The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

I've been told by our agent at Small world that standard rooms @ WL only overlook the main parking area and that if I want a north wing room with a possible fireworks view I would have to book woods view. Our standard rooms on our previous 2 trips were both north wing 5th floor with a view of the service area below and a straight ahead view of the Contemporary and Wishes - does anyone know if they dropped the rooms in that location from the standard class this year? Thanks for the help - I am so looking forward to going back "home".

Actually, it is not construction at all, but the Lodge is refinishing the wood floors of the lobby. They were blocking off sections at a time so that only a small inpact would be felt.

That would make sense for all the "noise".

Should be all completed soon.
That's good to hear...I got nervous there for a bit.
The panting is just normal maintenance and will not effect the Lodge. This will only be over at the Villas.

The post over on the AKL thread was that the guest who is a WL Vet said she saw more work being done at the Wilderness Lodge then she did while staying at AKL where major construction is being done but is blocked off from view.

Hope we receive additional information this afternoon about the Lodge.

Beckie

Thanks! We requested Inner Courtyard, so if we get lucky and get that, we'll never even know!:thumbsup2

I'm getting Sooooo excited! Even DH has started asking how many days left:thumbsup2

Couple questions for the Lodge experts -

How long does the boat to the Contemporary take? How much travel time should I allow for travel to breakfast at Concourse? Kona?

Is the Wonders of the Lodge tour still offered every Wednesday through Saturday? I know sometimes the info on Allears isn't 100% up-to-date, so I just want to be sure what days it is available as I rework my plans around our resort change. How far in advance do you have to book this tour?

How is breakfast at WCC? As crazy as lunch/dinner? Right now I don't have anything booked there because the antics are totally unappealing, so if breakfast is the same way, we'll just stick to in-park and monorail resort restaurants.

I've actually heard lunch is the most quiet meal at WCC.

WOW is your agent way off, the Standard View rooms are located over check-in on the 4th floor. (9 rooms) All the other Standard View rooms are located in the North Wing overlooking the service area where your rooms were before.

STANDARD ROOMS:2 Queen Beds Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks.

Below is a room lay-out of the lodge that shows you the general room locations:

Traveling from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary Resort only takes about 10 minutes once your on the Blue Flag Resort Boat you must also add the possible wait time for the boat which could be 20 minutes. If you are planing to visit the Poly you have to add the time spent walking from the dock area through the CR lobby up to the monorail station 10 minutes, then waiting on the next train and traveling around to the resort. It could take up to an hour but also could take as little as 25 minute. :confused3

The "Wonders of the Lodge," is offered to guest on various days beginning at 9:00a.m. Please call the Front Desk for the schedule of the tour days and availability. (Guest should meet in the Lobby of Wilderness Lodge.)

The Breakfast at WCC is fantastic (food) but the shenanigan's are in full swing during this time. I agree with tinkgurl and Wish_I_Was_At_WDW breakfast can be crazy (I love it) but lunch is usually quieter.

Thank you all for your quick answers!

We're going to try an early lunch at WCC rather than bother travelling for breakfast that morning. The menu looks worth putting up with a little lunacy! LOL

I called the Lodge and learned that the tour is still offered on the days Allears reports (subject to change, as with everything Disney, but for now it fits into my plans).

Now, for an odd question that maybe someone heading down in the next couple months can check on for me if no one knows off the top of their heads - What kind of inputs, if any, do the TVs at WL have? I've read on other threads that some of the TVs have inputs for a DVD player or such, and it sounds like it is the flat panels that tend to have them. So I need to know 1) if the TVs at WL have them and 2) what format they are so I bring the right cords to hook my laptop into the TV so the kids can watch a movie to unwind in the evening.

I don't know about the AV receptacles but can check on our trip next month.

Unless someone else can answer...Jeanne I'm sure BOB knows this answer. :rotfl2:

I KNOW Bob knows the answer. I am trying to get in touch with him to find out. :) As soon as I hear from him I will let you all know.

I do know that the inputs are on the front of the TV which makes it easier than trying to reach around the back and move the cabinet like we used to.

Can anyone recommend a good Woods View location? I just booked our trip for April 2008. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :)

Transportation Question? If I want to arrive at the parks before rope drop(9:00), what time would I need to catch the bus for each park?

Best woods view with possible views of the castle and Wishes request North Wing, 5 or 6 floor, overlooking the otter pond near the elevators.

To make absolutely sure you're there at rope drop I would say 40 minutes before opening. This would include any wait time for Disney transportation, then travel time and security.

MAGIC, thank you so much for replying to my question on the standard rooms - that's what I had learned in the past when I planned our WL trips, glad to know that those North wing rooms are still standard and affordable (kind of) for us! I always notice that you are so generous with your time and info on this thread!

We try to be at the bus stop by 8:15 at the latest. We haven't been late yet....but we haven't gone during busy times of the year either.

Thanks so much for the information MagicinMyHeart. I did request view of the otter pond. I think I will call back and add 5th or 6th floor. :)

What is going on with the room database that one of the vets was putting together? Is there a link to it?

I have a courtyard view booked for January and have requested the main courtyard on my reservation. I'd love to know more about the views. We've booked woods view before, so I am not as familiar with the courtyard views. Any suggestions for getting a good courtyard view are appreciated!

:dance3: Just wanted to say that we are leaving in about an hour for our first stay at WL. I am so excited!!!! If you could see me right now, I am dancing just like this banana!

We are considering returning to WL in January and doing club level (we were there in 02 before they built the new lounge). We would looooove a view of the fireworks and I've seen references to 4th and 5th floor rooms on the north side/woods view. Are there CL rooms in the same locations? And would I go through IPO for room requests or CRO?

Thanks to everyone for providing so much great info in this FAQ!
