The Sunset
Always searching for a fleeting image of a true experience, the Sunset personality is living in the world as it exists, but also in a perpetual quest to find the new, the exciting, the cusp of a changing day.

Emotionally volatile, this personality is known for sudden changes of opinion, of appreciation, and behavior. Following rules and established methods is difficult for this type of personality and the difficulties of higher education are usually quite daunting. Experience is the watchword for the Sunset. Knowledge is best gained through an intimate association with the matter at hand. Because of this, these personalities make excellent musicians or athletes.

It's been a long time since I've thought about what teens read - since I was a teen I guess - so whether The Da Vinci Code is appropriate for a 12 year old I can't say. It starts out violently, with a murder. The rest of the book takes place in about a 24-36 hour period trying to figure out who and why. It questions some christian beliefs, introduces some pagan ideas, and references a lot of religious artwork - clues to the murder. I admit I looked up some of the art pieces on the internet to see what was being talked about.

Maybe you should read it first, then decide if you want your son to read it. Just an idea...

alright the book has my attention! cant wait to read it!:)

how long did it take you to read?

Hello everyone!!!

Sorry I've been away for the last couple of days. Normally on Saturday & Sunday I am able to stop by a bunch as I am normally by myself at work (on Sunday I am the only person in the building for most of the day), but there have been some changes at work, and now there are 3 new people that have had there desks moved near me & I spent much of Saturday training one of them. Apparently the DIS is not part of training at the cable company, so I was not able to check in with you guys. Since we were expecting an ice storm, our company had all the Customer Service Representatives come in on Sunday (the calls are normally forwarded to a call center in Louisville on Sunday, which is why I am usually all alone) so, again, I was surrounded by people. Anyway, it was a bummer as Sunday is usually the only day during the week when I am all by myself. OK, I realize this is extremely exciting, so I will change the topic....

OK, the ice storm! Not even close to the Ice Storm we had last year. Last year our power was out for 4 days. This year, 1 hour. Our house is about 50 years old, so the trees in our neighborhood are just as old, if not older. Lots of falling branches, etc. Last year, I don't think the electric company had trimmed back the trees for a couple of years, so we had hundreds of downed power lines, etc. Wow, another extremely exciting topic....I am 2 for 2.

Well, our power went out as Michael Douglas was receiving his award, so I missed all the biggies. But, power came back in time for me to watch the Post Show on E!. Also, Bravo is going to replay the whole broadcast later this week, so I'll catch the rest then. I am so glad Peter Jackson & ROTK won. It was way overdue IMHO. I know you don't agree, Depplyinluv, but I am so glad Bill Murray won. I love him & his speech was hysterical. BTW, I hope that when Johnny ditches his wife & marries you, you will smile while on his arm. His wife never cracked a smile on the red carpet. Also, I didn't like her dress, I am sure you will pick something much prettier when you attend events with him.

Looks like everyone had a good weekend. I am working tonight for a few hours, so I'll try to check in later.

Have a great afternoon!!

Hmmm, I wonder...

The North Star
Fond of tradition, but attached more to the joy of human interaction, the North Star is often a beacon of hope to those members of society who have lost faith or who are in need of succor. Powerful personalities, North Stars are often in charge of the workplace and yet are not so rigid in their functionality that they can't take time off to play once in a while.

This type is often emotional, and this emotionality is rarely held in check. Kind and helping by nature, when affronted the North Star will usually explode, and just as suddenly when the pain has passed return to normalcy again. On occasion this quick and vibrant emotionality is translated into a life on the stage or screen.

I'm pretty sure he's not married but he does have a long time girlfriend(a French actress)

OK Bichon Barb, I did the test and I got -

The Lightning Bolt<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_6_8.gif' border=0></a>, just like you. That was a crazy test, I'm feeling a little weird now.

We got out of the house finally and did a little birthday shopping for my hubby. Then the kids and I shoveled the 1/2" of ice, with sloppy wet slush on top, off the driveway. I can barely type, my hands are fatigued. Breaking ice is tough! It's 50 degrees out now, but the driveway is always shaded so it's not melting much. Holly asked for an apple for a snack but I couldn't even peel it, so I talked her into a Ho-Ho. I'm such a great mom!

It's been a while since we had a question to answer so I thought of a fun question that anyone can answer. How tall are you?

I'm 5'-5 and don't-leave-off-my-1/2". Almost 5-6", but not really.

I'm going to watch GH now.

P.S. This is for you RickinNYC<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_117.gif' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_120.gif' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_131.gif' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_9_132.gif' border=0></a> Feel better now? Just remember, you are making a difference in others lives everyday.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_8.gif' border=0></a> Not many people can say that.
AND you simply can't stay away from us that long anymore. You NEED us!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_206.gif' border=0></a><a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_206.gif' border=0></a>

Hi everyone! You all have been quite gabby from last night! It took a while to catch up on all the posts! Bichon Barb, yeah! I bet you laughed when I complained about the 45 degrees! I remember going to college in Northern Arizona where it was COLD<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_3_5.gif' border=0></a> and when the temperature got up to 38 degrees, my roommate and I went up to the top of our dorm and layed out in the sun!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1054.gif' border=0></a> I am sure you wish for the 45 degrees!!!!!

We have been busy getting DS's (13)done. We have let him pick his colors and we have been sorta like Hildi from Trading Spaces with the designs. First, on two walls, the color is THIS BLUE. Hard to get covered! One wall will have two giant white boards so he can draw whatever he want to decorate it. The other blue wall will have all those CD's from AOL glued on it. Another wall will be this THIS GREEN and we are going to get neon glow in the dark paint and splatter it on the wall. The last wall is THIS RED and we still have to figure out what special effects to do on it. Needless to say, we will have to repaint this room when we decide to move and put it on the market!!!!!

So, back to the room and continue painting. UGH!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1004.gif' border=0></a>

http://www.colorgenics.com/index.cfm?pageview=test_archetype

Give it a try and see what you come up with. Here is mine. I don't know about mental fluidity, but I do like the DB LOL.
OK, that was the freakiest test I've ever taken ("Which object wants to kill you"??? ). And keep in mind that my undergrad degree was in Psychology so I've taken many a psychological test.

Anyway here's what mine said:

The Catapult

Handy in the real world manipulation of objects and events, this personality type is easily enthused by practical projects. Once gaining the interest of the Catapult, a project will be quickly and sometimes manically dealt with. That energy however will be invisible to those not witness to it. Abrupt is a watchword of this personality.

Spontaneity is important to the Catapult because it never quite knows when inspiration will hit. Because of this, it often ignores or conveniently forgets rules and boundaries that limit its freedom. This need for freedom extends even to the personal sphere and though this personality is kind and gentle, it will often be hard to pin down to a monogamous lifestyle. When discussing their need for freedom, the Catapult will most often resort to non-verbal means to express itself.
Honestly, I'm a pretty self-aware individual and this isn't very accurate at all. I am not a very spontaneous person (I'll probably preview this reply 3 or 4 times before posting it ;) ). But I will say that I can become more spontaneous when I'm around others who are that way (but not usually if on my own).

Also, I am very much aware of "rules and boundaries" that limit my freedom and almost always adhere to them. Actually, one person who worked for me was always calling me "Rule Follower." I was always the goody-twoshoes in school. But, this doesn't mean I don't like to or know how to have fun!

Most importantly, and this may be TMI, but I am MUCH more of a "monogamous lifestyle" kind of guy! Trust me! I was never one to want to be with a bunch of people. I just don't get the whole idea of it. It doesn't appeal to me at all! I had a desire to settle down with someone even before I came to grips with who I was (most of you know what I'm talking about here). Afterwards, the desire was even stronger.

On the other hand, I took the "Are You A Misunderstood Genius" test and think those results were much more accurate:

Yes, you tortured soul; you are a bona-fide misunderstood genius. You are creative and a thinker; you see the solutions to riddles and conundrums; you enjoy games of strategy and skill. You are extremely well-read in the topics that interest you and will obsessively research an obscure piece of trivia or arcana if it tickles your fancy.
Hmmm...must have been a different person than the one who designed the other test! :teeth:

RickinNYC even though it is frusterating, at the end of the day.. you have done something good for people and made a difference in their lives..
How many of us can say that?? Is the world any better because someone bought software to help them predict which marketing will succeed or how to predict which visitor to a website will purchase and what?? NOT!!

At the end of the day, you have made the world a better place!!!

AZKathy you are a way better MOM than I. When DS#2 wanted to paint his room in black with pyschodelic colors and put in a strobe lite.. we said NO WAY>> paint your own apartment when when you get one!!.. not in my house.. Obviously DH and I have no sense of humor at all.
.Please put some pictures up of your son's room so we all can see the work of art.. BTW my DS's are 12 ( almost 13 ) and 10 but he thinks that he is going on 20>>:teeth:

Very cold and snowy here.. in the teens and getting several inches of snow today and tomorrow.. but on WED am I AM OUT OF HERE!! AZ here I come.. and it may be cold to you and ibouncetoo but there won't be any snow..and no boots and ice...

well back to work.. I have to drive back from WIS tomorrow and get ready to go to Scottsdale..

back to llebrekniT I am 5' 3" and 1/2 inches..and look up to lots of people . DS#1 is the same hight that I am and DS#2 is soon to be there.. So how does one be the MOM and discipline people that are bigger than you???

Well I am not at home to cook, so how about dinner out somewhere fun??? Whispering Canyon??
TTFN

I did the test.. but this is NOT me.. especially since I am the one who runs from any type of conflict.. little peacemaker herself..

The Net
The Net reaches out to the world and pulls in experiences of all forms and kinds. Spontaneous, immediate and active, these people are natural racecar drivers, mountain climbers, skateboarders and skiers. Competitive to a fault, these personalities have a natural tendency to win, whether this is in the business world or on the freeway. In the right context this can be a positive encouragement to those around the Net. In the wrong context it can lead to a pathetic display of ego and misplaced pride.

These personalities at their most intense are always on the prowl for clues as to how to win, in an argument, in a simple conversation, in a placid walk along the lake. Usually this behavior is unconscious or "playful" but the sense of play can rapidly disappear if the Net is found to be losing in the aforementioned contest. If you do outmaneuver this personality however there are rarely any hard feelings. The Net believes in competition and a good competitor is someone to be respected. Only those who don't compete are met with derision.

Me? I'm 5'11.5"

HuggaBaloo, When Al Gore drafted and past the current legislation about polygraphs, we had to change to these written tests. The tests are supposed to be written so that they can be given to anyone. We gave a cross section of our best employees the test, and one of our managers failed it miserably. He was one of the most loyal employees we have ever had, and my boss made the comment that there is no way this person could have failed that badly. My boss commented about him not having any problems except that he had a similar lifestyle to HuggaBaloo. The tester promptly said that he needed to use another grading key (so much for the test crossing all lines ;))

Hey, RickinNYC, Office Max had some pens on sale that the ink smells like different coffes...And since you are having such a bad day, here are some Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans...

Chicken Pot Pie for everyone!!!!!

geffric, I don't think is being a better mom at all! His room has been totally white for three years and he has expressed no interest in decorating his room (except for doing the Monorail up on a ledge completely around the periphery of the room which never materialized) until now. It happened, and I jumped on it! DH was not there when we were at Home Depot getting the paint yesterday or we may have just had different shades of that blue! His eyes were real big when we showed them to him last night! (I had to remind him that his bedroom as a teenager was that color green) Have a safe trip to AZ. The temp today was up to around 54 degrees (burr!!!!)<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_3_9.gif' border=0></a>

I wonder what it means that both ohanafamily and I are "The North Star"s. Probably nothing, but I do think that I have some of those traits, just not the "life on the stage or screen" part.

:bounce: The floor is down. They just have to come back tomorrow to grout and then seal, as far as the floor goes.

Now I'd better go start dinner. I never got around to it last night so I promised tonight I'd cook. I've been so bad about doing the domestic things lately.

Hello RRBB and Ohana and All.

I'm sorry I'm jumping in on your conversation, but I love all the short talk!

I'm 5'0" short, and I'm a WISHER! I have recently been OUT of denial as to my weight/height ration! I am NOT overweight...I am UNDERtall!

That's my new saying!

Ibouncetoo (my sister) has told me I should colorize you when I speak to you on the tagliarchy, so I will cut and paste the correct colors to your corresponding name. And you can punish me if I forget next time. For the time being, ROCK on all us Shorties!

Good question! I'm probably going to have to face that too. I'm the same height you are; DH is 6'2" and his brother's about the same. DH's brother and SIL have a daughter (my niece, obviously:teeth: ) who is taller than I am and she's 11! Despite the fact that her mother is shorter than I am! I'm gonna have to get a stun gun or something if I want to keep any future child in line...
