The only unwritten "rule" we've agreed on is no duplicates. One other thing to keep in mind, light colors are hard to read. To see who's chosen a color and what that color is, you can go over to our color wheel. [color=FF66CC]llebrekniT[/color], I have secretly had that fear about the virus companies before, but they are publicly traded companies. I use Macafee's commercial scanning program (MaCafee Virusscan ASAP for the specific name to Gail). it is designed for a LAN, not a dialup, and is managed by them. It updates once a day. we have a seperate program that just scans every e-mail. I chose Macafee over Norton on the recomendation of a tech who rebuilds hard disks. I went with the commercial product because it does a better job and has better support. People have tried to convince me that freeware/shareware is better/cheaper, My answer is that you get what you pay for. We got hit by Code-Red on the day it broke out. half of our machines had updated, they helped me clean out the system. I do have another good story about how I got the budget (roughly $20/year/computer) passed...

About 2-3 years ago the president of our company got an e-mail from his daughter's best friend that said "I Love You"... guess what happened next...yup, he openned it... I really like being able to sleep nights without this kind of worry.....

Ohanafamily, so are you telling me I shouldn't use this AVG scanning thing? I was telling my stupid hubby (sorry didn't mean to call him stupid, it was an accident ) what the man at the computer store said about Norton and McAfee and he went and deleted the Norton from his laptop last night!Now he's cruising the net with no protection whatsoever! Sometimes he is such a bonehead!

I have an idea for a new thread over on the DB. "People with sick computers using the internet" Those people over on the DB think my family was out getting thousands of happy travelers sick, how sure are they that their computers aren't going to spread some nasty germ through the DIS?

Excuse me if I can't get all the colors right......the only way I know how to do colors is by the drop down menu. I can also only do bold, italics, underline or a color. Don't know how to do any combo of them.

I have just take Contac and some other cold remedies. The Contac makes me HIGH, but it dries everything up quite well. So I will be speeding around, better than cloudy head, huh.

Tonight is BUNCO at my house, I am passing around jello shots for everyone. Watermelon, Apple, Grape, and Watermelon/Apple combo's. Excellent. Also on the menu is pumpkin crisp, chinese chicken salad, cheddar bites, turkey and cream cheese wrapped pickles and pretzels with dip.

I would not run a computer without an anti-virus program; the same thing that happenned to your computer before can happen again with a worse virus!!! There are some virusses out there that can actually break your computer so that you need to replace the main board!!!!!

It am at the point where a bunch of my friends have me check out the e-mails that they get about virus threats because so many of them are hoaxes.....

Chicken Soup in the refillable mug of the Tagliarchy sounds like a good cure for you, I think Nieceosaurus picked some up at the grocery store for [color=FF66CC]llebrekniT[/color] when she was sick. Check out the pantry.

I would do a lot of hand washing, Purell Etc...

I like Actifed (before bed-time) it knocks me out and when I wake up I generally feel better. Dayquill is good for days, I also like Pseudofed. Clariton actually is supposed to work wonders...

OK, I'm not a Dr., but a lot of the liquids have Alcohol as the thing that knocks you out.....ask you pharmacist...and get better. there is nothing worse than flying with a stopped up head.....

Yes, this is much nicer than the DB. Thank you for the invite.
I would not run a computer without a virus protection program either. The new Norton for 2004 even alerts you to possible spyware when it scans. Gotta love that.
There is a site that will tell you what is a hoax and what it not, and there seems to be as many hoaxes out there as there are viruses. I have mine set up for automatic so every time there is a new definition out there, it updates it automatically.
We also keep our Microsoft updates updated and make sure all the security patches are in order and up to date. I also have a pop up stopper, which is wonderful. That way I cannot, by mistake, install something I don't want.

Lewski709, since not everyone's color is in the drop down list - not near enough colors there anyway - ohanafamily created a special page for us. If you click on the link to the "The Official Tagliarchy Color Wheel" that's in my sig it will open a new window for that page.

You can bookmark ("Add to Favorites") this page. When you're post a message here in the Tagliarchy you can open that page in another browser window. Then to use the color wheel, find the name you're posting to, go to the second column that starts with [b] and highlight the code. Copy it (CTRL-C), go back to your post, and paste it (CTRL-V) into your message. This way you don't need to remember anyone's color or the code for it either.

(You'll notice a lot of other information on the Color Wheel page, too.
