So how do most of you get to the Dolphin? I was considering Mears shuttle since it is the most cost effective, that is if we don't want a grocery stop which I'm really waffling on since it is a short trip. Anyone used Mears lately? Is it a pain?

We either rent a car or use a car service. Last year however my niece flew out to meet us and she used the Mears shuttle and said it was excellent.

I am waiting with baited breath for some lower room rates for Oct 7-8th. We are staying a couple days before our cruise and I am REALLY hoping for the Dolphin. If I can't find anything, I'll probably book at the Gaylord Palms. I know they just released some room rates for packages for their version of the food/wine festival, but I'm hoping for some lower room-only rates. Anyone else waiting? Do you think that anything will be released soon, if at all?

Back a few pages on this thread, not sure how many, there is a post with the actual form shown, but this is from "All Ears" (says Swan, but applies to the Dolphin, too)

Are refrigerators available?

Yes. Swan rooms no longer have a mini-bar; they include a small refrigerator at no extra charge. In addition, the hotel offers a service called Personal Pantry, which allows you to order snacks and beverages and have them delivered to your guest room's mini-refrigerator. You simply complete the menu provided and present it to the front desk agent at check-in. These menus are also available in your guest room so you can place your order at your convenience. Items will be delivered to your room at any designated time. Charges for the items are moderate, and they will be added to your room bill. There are no delivery or service charges. Personal Pantry service is available 24 hours a day. Sample items available through this service: Six 12-oz. cans of Budweiser - $6.00; Nutrigrain bar - $1.25; 4 oz. box of Wheat Thins - $3.00; 1 qt. milk - $3.00. (Prices do not include tax.)

Does the DOLPHIN have real mini cold refrigerators ?

I have rented from Alamo and National at MCO for drop-off at the Dolphin. I have also used Mears, but that is much slower.

we used Mears MANY moons ago, and I felt like I could have driven from NJ to Florida in the amount of time it took to fly and then take Mears. LOL:lmao:

after that, we started using a town car - more expensive, but quicker and more fun..;)

So true! I don't mind taking Mears TO the airport, because you have a specified pick-up time. Going from airport to resort - you never know how long it will take for the van to arrive, or how many others they will drop-off before you.

:cool1:

Thank you SingingMom telling me the Dolphin has real cold mini-refrigerators too, just like the Swan !

I just booked for us to go Oct 8-11 during the food and wine festival and the room only rate was still $169 Is anyone else going during that time?

Have you checked the rates through DU for the Dolphin? They are $169 with no discount. Check out their discounts because you may qualify for one. Here is the link http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/dreamsres/sd.cfm

Quick question. We're booked for CSR in November.

We just got informed that we could get Swan Dolphin for $119 a night ... which would make the price equivlant.

The only difference is that FD is included with CSR and dining would be out of OOP at Swan/Dolphin.

What would you do?

I am sure you mean the Swan/Dolphin @ $119/night PLUS food OOP = CSR with free dining @ $175/$185/night! I'd prefer to stay at the Swan and eat what I want.

Thanks guys for the info on Mears. The reported travel time to the hotel is worrisome. Maybe I should look at limo/town car service or rentals.

I'm not keen on standing around the airport for a while and then waiting on a bus for a while, etc. etc. I'll get enough of "waiting" while in line at the parks.

Does anyone know if the Dolphin/Swan charges for package delivery? I mean if I ship a box do they charge to hold and deliver? Also, what about a grocery delivery from an outside service (ex. Garden Grocer or WeShop)?

Thankyou! :flower3:

How often does the recipe club e-mail come out? I got one for June, but did not receive one for July.

Also, is the recipe club discount available for last minute travel only, or can you book in advance?

And the final question... Can I book now and apply a recipe club discount to my reservation later?

Thanks so much!
