Just wanted to share my excitement! We will be staying at the Swan for the first time in June. We had CBR booked (2 nts preferred for $330) and I saw elsewhere on the DIS about using Delta SkyMiles for hotels. We had some miles just sitting around since we haven't flown Delta in years. Well, low and behold, I ended up getting 2 nights at the Swan for miles and cash--a little cash. $13.03!!

So, we are staying 2 nights for $13.03 + taxes, resort fees & parking fees. Less than $75 for 2 nights.

Beats my $60/night rate with Starwood! :worship: Good for you.

Speak for yourself, Miss Thang. I do not have an AARP membership.

I got ticked when they sent me a thing in the mail before I was old enough to join. So, when I got old enough, I refused to. :rotfl:
They did the same thing to me  so I never joined either ;)

That sounds like a great deal. Do you mind saying what the exchange rate is for Skymiles? Or are you exchanging them to SPG? Thanks!

Does anyone know if all the rooms at the Dolphin have been refurbished?

I was under the impression that they were, however we had an Epcot Fireworks room in February that had not yet been refurbished.

I was told about 70% finished--that was about 2 weeks ago.

I am in love with my 2 rooms for 10 nights, already upgraded to a suite for $0.

Of course the real cost has been the 200 nights a year in a hotel as a guest of Mr. Sheraton for the past decade. The real reward is $12K worth of hotel rooms at no cost. Everything has a price I guess.

Most hotels the size of the Dolphin never really finish refurbing......they always have projects going on. Once they finish one area; there is always a new area of the hotel that receives work next.

Exchanging Delta miles to Starwood miles is one of the worst exchange rates in all the mileage program.

A room at the Dolphin runs 10K points.....Delta converts at a 1:1 ratio even though they were offering a 20% bonus last quarter.

Therefore to get 2 rooms it would cost 20K Delta SM.

20K SM could buy a domestic coach ticket worth well over a thousand dollars depending on the route and dates. 2 nights at the Dolphin could be worth $400 tops. 20K SM could also could score an upgrade on a US to Europe flight worth easily $3K minimum.

Any time you change from one program to another you lose most of your value.

I'm going the 2nd week of November. Is it usually busy then?

NPSA 8th Annual Conference and Trade Show at the Swan/Dolphin Hotel in Orlando

Sorry if this has been asked recently...

I did the search and only found 2008 posts?

Can we do dining reservations 180 + 10 in advance? Or just 180 days exactly?

Heading out to the park now, thought I would add the AC 'code'. I called engineering to set it.

It is a different system than in the past. You hold the 'Display' button down and while holding down, push the 'on/off' button and then the 'up' button. That will put it on manual operation for 3 days. You can check if it worked since if in auto mode, temp can only be set down to 65, if manual, can go to 60.

When engineering left, they gave me two small boxes of chocolates, for my 'inconvenience' (of which I really had none). Another nice touch by a great resort. :thumbsup2
I checked in a bit earlier, this is still the way to manually set the A/C. :cool1:

have a wonderful stay Dan :goodvibes

Gotto love the little extra touches ! The one that comes to mind for me is the free popsicles we got as we got off the boats back at the S&D on a very hot July day :cloud9::cloud9:

Hi,

We are from the UK and are looking at staying a few nights in August.

Can someone advise on the differences between the rooms at the Swan and Dolphin, I have seen floor plans, am I right in thinking Dolphin rooms are slightly larger?

Thanks

There is no noticeable difference in the size of rooms. The Dolphin is a larger hotel and is the "busier" of the two but both are fantastic.

Thanks for the response, the prices for August are very reasonable and the location, with Boardwalk, Beach Club and EPCOT all closeby is excellent too. :)

My family and I are soooooo excited to spend two nights at the Dolphin June 17 -18. We are hoping to be pleased with our choice. The highest level of resort we have stayed in prior to our stay at the Dolphin would be the moderates. I'm hoping this executive suite at the Dolphin is dang nice! :cool1:
