Depending on where you stay (which wing) in either hotel, you could be very close, or very far, from The Grotto Pool. Techincally though, The Grotto Pool is adjacent to The Dolphin, not The Swan. I'm sure someone here can recommend which part of either hotel to stay in to be close (or far away if that's what you're looking for!) to that area.

Thanks, I would like to be as close as possible since I know my little girl will want to be there as much as possible. I would like to stay at the swan for the queen beds. Can I make a request to be in a wing closest, if so what is that? Does anyone know if placed in the farthest wing away how long the walk is?

I love this thread! I am thinking about changing from CSR to Swan or Dolphin. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get to the grotto pool from either?
Thanks
My first floor room last year was down the hallway from the fitness center in the Dolphin and it was literally steps from the grotto pool. I was also really close to Picabu and Camp Dolphin. Can't remember the room number, but it was a lovely quiet hallway with a patio facing the Swan.

The room number was 1170 but it had a king bed, not two queens. It was so quiet at the end of the hallway! Sigh, wish I was there right now! :)

From the Swan to the Grotto Pool - walk out the back door by the Friendship boats (boats to EPCOT and DHS) and turn left towards the beach. Walk across the beach, at the end of the beach bear to your left and the Grotto Pooll will be there. The walk is no longer than 5 minutes - just about the same time it would take walking from the EPCOT resort view rooms in the Dolphin to the Grotto Pool. :goodvibes

Dan or anyone who knows...will a 15" laptop fit in the wall safe? Sorry to keep bugging you on your trip Dan....:flower3: If we can still manage our trip, DD will have assignments to deal with for school so she will need her laptop.
Yes - it will fit! But homework on vacation is no fun!

Director of Security says, "yes, they will fit, I have verified it and taken pictures in the past."

Hi SSB! Good to see you! :cheer2:

I thought I read somewhere that the double beds at the Dolphin were actually oversized doubles and pretty close to the same size as the queen beds in the Swan. Is that true?

I've never stayed at the Swan, but during our four stays at the Dolphin, we found the doubles to be almost the size of our queen at home. Definitely larger than an "average" double... and they are HEAVENLY!!!! :cloud9:

Were getting married at the yacht club next December, and are looking into booking three rooms from approx 3-10 dec 2010, do you know if AAA or annual pass rates have been released, and if I could book 3 rooms (two for other people) using this?

Thanks!!

Yes, should still be out there now ... Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings so will be sold out later...

Does anyone know where you can get a list of companies/groups having conventions, which book blocks of rooms at the Swan/Dolphin ?

We go Easter weeks 2010 and I was told all the rooms are sold/blocked out at the Dolphin.

We have a resort view room booked for our dates - but I was wondering who else will be in the Dolphin resort when we stay in 2010.

What I found so far:
Phi Theta Kappa. April 8 - 10, 2010 Swan/Dolphin resorts

Spring 2010 IDN Summit & Expo - April 20-22, 2010 Swan/Dolphin resorts

SAS Global Users Sunday, April 22 thru Wednesday, April 25 - Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin

NIA’s 55th Annual Convention - April 28–May 1, 2010 - Walt Disney World Swan Resort

The 2010 DiecastSpace.Com Collector Experience will arrive at the Swan and Dolphin Resort June 24-27 2010

How is the walk to Epcot and HS?

I know it's possible to walk, but does it involve crossing major streets? Is there a map of the area? (I haven't come across one yet.)

We're a family of 5 (my "baby" recently turned 3), so I've been looking for less expensive accomodations. I had never really paid attention because these weren't "Disney" hotels, but this might be a nice option for us. We always have a vehicle (we drive) so the airport transportation is not an issue, but we do like to just park our van and use Disney transportation throughout our stay.

There are no streets to cross at all, it's a wide walkway from the hotels right to either DHS or Epcot. The walk to Epcot is about 20 min at a slow-to-normal pace, the walk to DHS is 25+. Much quicker if you are speed walking. If your 3-yr old is in a stroller it won't be a problem, or if he/she is used to long walks. I walked to DHS once with my then 6-yr old & that was the last time! Last year whe it was just a GF & myself we walked it over & over with no problems. Don't forget there is also boat transportation to Epcot & DHS too.

We've stayed at value, moderate & deluxe WDW resorts & we prefer The Dolphin - mostly because it's SO much more affordable than any of the WDW deluxe Epcot resorts. We LOVE the Epcot resort location. My kids love the Grotto Pool at The Dolphin more than any of the WDW resorts we've stayed at.

Walk to EPCOT is just wonderful along a concrete sidewalk - easy for a stroller and no roads. no traffic to cross.

To DHS - take the friendship boat, best route and lots of cun. Not sure if you have to fold up the stroller before going on the boat or can just roll it onto the boat (we never saw a stroller on the Friendship boats and we have teen kids, so no use for one:rotfl: )

Thanks, TaraPA & pooh2001!

I knew there were boats, but I didn't know how busy or how much of a wait there would be. We like to go to the parks at rope drop/EMH and thought it might be easier to walk. We would use the boats when we take an afternoon break and head back to a park for the evening.

We think we need a (financial) break from Disney this coming year, so the kids will probably be 12, 7, and almost 5 when we go again. The strollers are already a concern. Our 5 year old used one this year since we were already bringing one for our 2 year old. She probably didn't need it, but DH and I like to walk at an "adult" pace and it was nice to not have to carry them if they fell asleep on the way back to the room. The big debate will be whether we need zero, one, or two strollers. :upsidedow We'll probably just bring them and only use them some of the time.

We stayed at CSR this May and loved it, but we would need two rooms to stay there now. We would rather do a nicer resort that could accomodate us in one room than two rooms at a value.

A little more than 24 hours until we fly to MCO....

10th Anniversary Trip...12-31 Dec 09 ;)

Happy Anniversary!

We arrive on the 31st celebrating our 1st anniversary (a little late because of my hubby's school schedule).

Does anyone know what the price is this time of year for their two bedroom suites? I am looking to go next year at this time and was curious about the price.
