We just booked Dec 5-10th 2010 at a base rate of $149/night at the Dolphin! With all the fees/taxes its only $888! Thats about the same as the mods Im sooooooooooo excited! We were looking at the WL, would have been $1680 in a standard view (i was hoping for a pin code but havent gotten one yet) Plus we are SPG's so hopefully we'll get a nice upgrade :thumbsup2 Our first trip to the Dolphin and our first trip with our soon to be baby boy :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks for the awesome pictures Dan!!! :cloud9:

We'll be spending one night at Swan in less than 2 weeks, before checking in to THV!

I can't wait to see the Santa exhibit. I was there last month when they had just finished constructing it!! :)

Heading out to the park now, thought I would add the AC 'code'. I called engineering to set it.

It is a different system than in the past. You hold the 'Display' button down and while holding down, push the 'on/off' button and then the 'up' button. That will put it on manual operation for 3 days. You can check if it worked since if in auto mode, temp can only be set down to 65, if manual, can go to 60.

When engineering left, they gave me two small boxes of chocolates, for my 'inconvenience' (of which I really had none). Another nice touch by a great resort. :thumbsup2
One additional item. If the room is unoccupied for some time it will go back to auto, but you can readily reset it, for up to 3 days, where it will stay where you want it while you are in the room. You just have to take it below 65, when it will read 'VIP', and then set it on the temp and fan setting you want. Sounds more complicated than it is, LOL.

Nice pictures, Rachel.

SWEET Dan! Thanks so much for the pictures..love , love, LOVE the one with the moon over the friendship boat! The tree looks amazing..the last Christmas we spent at the Dolphin the tree was red poinsettia, so the white is a nice change. Looks like the train has a new paint job as well. Just a little side note since talking A/C controls etc., it is 25 degrees out here right now ( Naperville) no snow yet, but on itls way just about when you return ( sorry) so enjoy all those beautiful palms and sunshine! Oh, and bring back some sun too, ok?;)

Thank you for the tip!!!!

And thank you for all the photos - they are great!!!

Hope you are having a lot of fun :) And can't wait to hear more about the trip and the resort!

Dan or anyone who knows...will a 15" laptop fit in the wall safe? Sorry to keep bugging you on your trip Dan....:flower3: If we can still manage our trip, DD will have assignments to deal with for school so she will need her laptop.

Some GREAT photos... thanks for sharing!

Raining like cats and dogs today, alas.

Director of Security says, "yes, they will fit, I have verified it and taken pictures in the past."

Ahhhh....Dan, thanks for the photos! :goodvibes

I love seeing my home away from home! The scenes are so familiar and I can feel myself there as I view the photos.

Oh Dan-I am back through your pictures - what wonderful memories you have given me. Roger and I loved the Dolphin!!! Have a magical time. Caroline

I tried to read through this thread, but, alas, it was too much. So, I'm sure my questions have been asked and answered before. Sorry.

1. What are the differences between the 2 resorts?

2. Is Magical Express not available with a stay here? I figure not, but just asking.

3. Is the government employee discount the same as the teacher discount. I'm a para educator, hubby is government employee. Which, if either, is better?

4. Were will I get a good theme park view? Or, better yet, what is the best view?

5. I know there's no dining plan, and don't care. Is there a mini fridge in every room?

Thanks and I'm sure I'll have more questions.
:)

1. The Swan is a bit smaller than the Dolphin. The differences, imho, are negligble.
2. No, no ME.
3. Government rate and teacher rate are the same.
4. Views of Epcot are usually listed as a resort/theme park view.
5. Mini fridges are in rooms at both resorts.

Thank you both for the pictures!

We will be there in 26 more days! I called just a little while ago to pay off the room. That makes it even more exciting.

Mouseteacher, thanks for the quick response. I'm booked at CBR in January. I didn't really know about these 2 resorts. I didn't realize they were so affordable (by Disney standards). If I had, I would have made a different choice. I love their location. I thought they were more on the deluxe side and, therefore, out of my range. We'll be going back in '11 or '12, so I'll probably book the swan (because of the queen beds). Thanks again.

Thank you Dan for posting the pictures. Looking forward to our stay at the Swan on Sat 12 Dec. ;)

10th Anniversary Trip...12-31 Dec 09 :)

I love this thread! I am thinking about changing from CSR to Swan or Dolphin. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get to the grotto pool from either?
Thanks
