Thanks, Robin. I have always enjoyed our stays at the S/D. You can't beat the location with, of course, the wonderful teacher rate! :goodvibes

I found the customer service outstanding.

I tried this link with my info which would include the nurse discount, 3 standard rooms for 6 nights.

I have been calling Swan/dolphin all week & they keep telling me not possible for those days and no discount?? :confused3

Mom Poppins... please confirm :)

We just returned from a wonderful 7 day at the Swan. Our alcove suite had a beautiful resort view. We were on the 3rd floor east wing.

An unusual event occurred one afternoon around 3:00 pm. We had just returned from the pool when there was a whole resort announcement coming through our room stating there was an emergency and that we needed to leave our rooms and the building immediately and to not use the elevators. The exit door was right outside our room. So outside we went. We saw the housekeeping staff already outside. It took about 10 minutes before we were allowed to go back in. We never did find out what was wrong.

We were granted a request for a late check out which was a help as we were not being picked up until 2:30 for the airport.

Our room was cleaned everyday by the time we requested each morning before leaving for the parks.

The only minor negative was that the conventioneers took over the Fountain, the Cabana Restaurant, and Fresh at the lunch hour. We have never seen this happen in all of our stays. It wasn't a problem for us as we usually eat lunch in the parks.

Happy you had a good time! Welcome home! :cutie:

Same thing happened to us one evening as we were enjoying a nightcap in the Dolphin Lobby Bar...
At first, we thought they wanted to clear the area we were in to close, but very calmly, we were asked to evacuate the building....

Apparently an alarm of unknown origin (that amused me for some reason. :goodvibes) went off and they were trying to investigate, but needed to evacuate the entire hotel.... we took our drinks down the escalator and outside to the Dolphin fountain, and met another family and we had a very pleasant conversation. We looked around and it seemed we were the ONLY ones who had heeded the warning.

DH decided to "investigate" and found that the majority of the guests were out the front doors. :rolleyes1

After a few minutes, we were invited to return. Never found out what it was. :confused3

What is the difference between the "A La Carte" mini fridge in the Swan rooms and the "Refreshment Center" in the Dolphin? Do the Dolphin rooms not have a mini-fridge included?

The Dolphin used to have mini bar "refreshment centers"... they are in the process of changing them all out to be mini fridges.. Probably the switch is completed by now - week of June 23 the new fridge was in our room, but not in my parents' room as of yet...

Thank You very much. I just booked the Dolphin for 7/2010 so I wanted to double check.

LoveKermit - Let me know what you find out!! I am getting anxious to book our trip but of course will wait it out for the price to DROP!!

So I finally called and am somewhat disappointed.

First, the Swan only has King Rooms left for 1/28-2/1. The teacher rate is $219/night. And since I'm a math teacher, no really, I did all the other adding--tax, parking (no comment), resort fee, it's almost $300 a night.

The Dolphin is $209, yada, yada. But at first her computer showed her no discount. She put me on hold for 3-4 minutes and came back with this.

I may still call CR and ask for their best rate.

Swolphin must not be suffering too badly. I realize there may be a convention--especially with the limited availability at the Swan. But they sure don't seem to want the military or gov't staff there in Jan.

What, you have to pay to park there?
How much?
Do all the hotels charge?

The lady today said $9 per day, Post #1 says $10 per day to self park. I think valet is $16.

This is only at Swolphin. The Disney Resorts do not charge for you to park.

And DH hates the busses, so we rent a car (hence, the no comment).

Self-parking is $9/day plus tax ($9.59) for resort guests and it is added to your bill. If you park in the lot as a day guest, the fee is a flat $10, but there are no in and out privileges.

Have a question about connecting rooms... does anyone know if the connecting rooms will both have 2 beds or will one have a king and the other 2 beds?

You could have it either way, which ever you prefer. Let them know when you make a reservation.

We are going during President's Week 2010. My husband is a teacher so it's the only time we can really go.

Has anyone ever received a teacher's rate during President's Week before? Just wondering how much the discount would be. When I called, they said that rate isn't available yet.

I'd make the reservations anyway. My husband gets an employee discount (his company actually "owns" the Dolphin) The rates are never available when I first make our reservation, but they will adjust when they ARE availalbe. You can always cancel the reservation before you arrive if it doesn't work out for you.

Well the time is almost here....

Here's to hopefully another incredible experience at the Dolphin and the vacation too! I will have my laptop during the experience, hopefully I'll add a few pictures each day so you can all see how it is going!

We are excited to stay in the Executive Suite, lots of room for five adults/young adults and a baby!
