FinFan....lucky you! My ds doesn't like exterior doors either! My dd liked the location of the s/d better (than csr, which was our other choice too for dp reasons). They also don't like the busses if they can be avoided. I called them resort snobs! Anyway, the S/D worked out for us, even if we had to pay for our meals. And we got 2 rooms, connecting. The Blue Zoo was awesome.

Turn down service when we had it was automatic and an unexpected surprise. I didn't think to request it on subsequent trips. I guess I thought we shouldn't be getting it...

We'll be checking in at the Swan in 17 days...now I am getting excited!

Your trip will be here before you know it!

There is free dining in December? I thought it ended Oct. 3.

We received something in the mail about it maybe a month ago. My sisters also received something but theirs was good for about a week or two longer than mine. Mine was only good through the first week of December.

Now I'm thinking I'm glad we moved our trip to January. They seem to be releasing lots of deals for December and I bet it will be very crowded like last December.

I know a few people have been asking about upgrades. I checked in this afternoon for one night at the Swan with the $119 special rate. I originally had a reservation for a room with two queen beds.

I didn't ask for an upgrade, but when checking in, I mentioned that my SPG membership number should already be on the reservation. The woman asked if I would like to have a king bed instead of two queens. I told her that it made no difference.

She gave me the room with the king bed on the 11th floor of the west wing. When you get off the elevator, there is a sign that says Preferred Group floor (or something similar). I assume this is an upgrade over my previous reservation. I don't have a balcony, but I have a very nice view of Disney's Hollywood Studios. I can also see part of the Boardwalk Resort including the pool area. If I'm very near the window, I can see parts of World Showcase from Mexico around to France, so there should be a nice view of fireworks if I don't go to the park to watch them this evening.

Could you post some pictures for us? Sounds like an awesome view!

So after reading about half this entire forum thought i'd post a question that maybe was or wasnt asked or answered yet... sorry if its a repreat...

Looking to book a trip in Feb 2010 for the 13-21st (the weekend including presidents day) at the swan or dolphin for my parents, my husband and I... I am a teacher and want to use the teacher discount and was hoping it'd be somewhere under 150 a night - anyone have a clue as to what prices with the discount might be at this time of year? Also crowd levels? On dreamsunlimitedtravel they are not listing any 2010 prices yet, but on the swan and dolphin site I can only see full price... Any ideas?!?!?

Thanks ;)

Welcome to the boards and to our crazy thread. I have no clue when the rates will be released or anything about the crowd levels then, but someone here can help you.

Welcome to the DIS, akp.

Here is another stand..........

I will see if I can figure out how to post a couple of pictures when I get home. I forgot to bring anything with me to move the pictures from the camera to my laptop.

I also forgot to mention that this was my first use of the Starwood Preferred Guest program, so it's not like I've built up a lot of points. I would guess that only staying a single night and the fact that I only needed one bed increased my chances of an upgrade.

I have seen those there the past several times I have been there, at checkin.

The lemonade stand was opposite the check-in desk at the Swan when we were there last summer. It was there every day while we were there.

We are a family of five, and therefore have a limited number of options at Disney. The Dolphin says that it can accomodate 5 people. Has anyone done this? Do you rent a roll-away or do they have a couch like the Disney Deluxes? Were you crowded with five in the room?

TIA!

I tried skimming through the thread and I am sorry if this has been covered somewhere I missed, but can anyone tell me what types of coupons are in the booklet that they give you? We may be staying here in October and I am curious.

TIA. :goodvibes

Booklet? :confused3 anyone?......

We've stayed at the Dolphin four years in a row and haven't received any coupon booklets...

ps: I miss the Adventure's Club, too! :sad1:

Nope, we have never received a booklet and we have 4 stays dating back to 2002.

Interesting. Maybe it's just a FL Res thing. If you click on their link for Florida Resident offers, it was listed there. I tried to link here to it but it wouldn't link directly to the offer. Here is where the FL res link can be found though.

The cot fits very well between the quen bed and window/siding glass door with at least 1-2 feet on either side of the cot.
Not a poblem at all and housekeeping will make-up each bed and the cot in the AM. :goodvibes
