I thought I would add a Bing map here to help folks on this thread get a a bit of the layout and perspective.

(I see it says Bay Lake there on the left. It is not Bay Lake, but rather Crescent Lake)

Did you use a discount or anything? Because I am getting 189 as a rate without the resort fee.
Yes, my dh qualifies for the govt rate and I qualify for the teacher rate. Nurses also qualify, that makes the rate 149.00. Good luck!!

Now my turn....what is zero entry? :confused3 Does that mean you need a key to get into the pool so people can't wander in off the street? Thanks! heather

Zero entry simply means no steps - the pool floor gradually slopes down into the water.

LOL I thought he was asking about the other poster who also said "persistence pays off" for the ESPN discount. Oh well - glad to see lots of discounts going around for S/D!!!

5 more weeks for me!

I just booked at the Swan - Boardwalk view with balcony. What are my chances of seeing fireworks at night? I've seen some pictures of fireworks views from Dolphin rooms, but none from the Swan. I have a feeling I just paid for a view of the back of the Boardwalk Inn and Boardwalk villas.

It depends on what floor you're on. Lower floors can have the view blocked by trees, so ask for a high floor.

Dan, that map is awesome! Thank you! Remember my dumpster view picture? Well now I can see exactly where it was. It was actually a front-facing room - I thought I was looking out the side of the Dolphin towards YC. The Convention Center was in my way though - the back side of the convention center & all of it's dumpsters!

It looks from the map that all of the rooms facing out the front of The Dolphin won't have a good view. Maybe not dumpsters, but no chance of seeing anything YC/BC Epcot, BW or DHS. No? Looks like you'd just be looking out across Epcot Resorts Blvd to World Drive. Does anyone have any pics of that view?

I've seen posts from rooms on that side in which you could see AKL and MK in the distance.

What area of the Dolphin is considered desirable? This is in regards to current renovations and view. We're staying in a standard room with two beds (2 kids 2 adults). Any suggestions on which sides of the hotel, floors, etc? Distance from elevators etc are not an issue. Thanks :)

Thanks! We aren't going ESPN weekend so there goes that code, and we don't qualify for any of the other rates-- govt, nurses, etc. So hopefully something will come out to help with the cost-- I got the second room for 119 based on the promotion they have, but we need three rooms. So any help I can get (crossing fingers!)

The Swan has "queen size" beds, the Dolphins are listed as 'doubles" - but I have to tell you, they really aren't true doubles - more like "almost a queen". :goodvibes We have a "queen" at home, and we really don't find the Dolphin's beds any smaller - but oh my, SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE!! :cloud9:

Again, everyone has their personal preference, but I sort of side with that description of the Swan being more couple-like. I don't know that I'd call the Dolphin "family" as much as "hussle and bussle" energy like. I feel very "up" while I am there.. there is an excitement in the air. :cool1:

Yup,that's what I always say about the Dolphin, there's a "buzz" in the air that other hotels don't have. Some don't like that level of energy. My family thrives on it! Wherever you stay, enjoy!:goofy:

Do you belong to AAA or AARP, have an annual pass, have an Entertainment Book? All of those qualify for a discount at the Dolphin, but you have to call the hotel directly for the AP discount.

Could this map be included in the first post?

It gives me a better sense of how far the walk to Epcot/HS/other resorts and they layout of the property than the drawn maps. I think it would be helpful for others planning their trip.

Thanks for posting it! :goodvibes

AGREED! This is so great....I just spent so much time looking over all of it and I've been to the Dolphin three times already:thumbsup2.

LOVE IT!

If the map is included, this maybe would be a better starting point, rather than the dumpsters, LOL......

A note maybe added to both click the < on the left side of the map to move the 'welcome panel' out of the way as well as to use the navigation items at the bottom of the map and use the mouse 'grab and drag' method to move also.

The photo posted some posts back might also be useful in the OP.
