"Posted" pool hours are 9 am - 9 pm... a few years back a front desk employee told me the pools were open "24 hours a day - swim at your own risk" but I guess that was either changed or they don't "announce" that anymore.

Yes! It can't hurt. Show your card at check-in and it's always good to call and add it to your confirmation/reservation.

As for the pool - I can't imagine getting back to the hotel before 9 pm - what are they thinking???? LOL!

Well, we'll either swim at risk or not at all, because I'm not wasting park time swimming in a hotel pool.

Great photo of the Grotto Pool - although I still haven't used any of the pools at the S/D. Maybe if I spent a week there when it's hotter than Hades, as you do, I might be tempted!

Re: the Java Bar - We stay at the Swan. I would go to the lobby bar in the morning for coffee and pastries for DH, DS, and myself. It generally cost about $17-18 for 2 coffees, a juice, and about 5 pastries. Some mornings I would have my coffee and croissant at the small tables in the quiet of the early morning. It is the small things that make a vacation a vacation, imho.

I am always up early and the one to be at the lobby bar when it opens for breakfast foods. I need to get my family up and moving...after all we are in Disney World!

When I was a kid, the most important thing about choosing a motel when on a family vacation was that it had a pool! I'm not anti-pool, just anti being seen in a swimsuit!

I planned a WDW trip for the last week of June, and I had a reservation at the Swan. I've been to WDW the past few years at that time, but this year the locals were complaining more than usual about the heat! I booked a December trip about 2 weeks before I was supposed to fly down, so I decided to cancel the June trip and save my money for the holiday season trip - which is one of my favorite times to visit.

Oh thanks so much for the info and pics! Yes, the pool looks amazing but unless they are going to let us swim after 9 we won't get to use it since we only have 3 full days at Disney. If we could be there a week, we'd have time to take off.

Oh, us too! Had to have a nice, clean pool. We have a lovely inground pool at home, so DD just doesn't "get" how important that was to us growing up. She's got a little "diva" in her...
As for "anti being seen in a swimsuit", I have gotten over that. I figure there are many people who look worse than I do and they aren't fazed either, so why should I be?

This June was REALLY HOT in Disney. And I think we noticed it even more so because this June in New Jersey had been very cool. Even today - it's only in the 70's. (good thing my pool is heated! )

I would love a winter trip to Disney, but DD is in high school and just CAN'T be pulled out of school!

Have fun in December!! I'm sure the Dolphin & Swan look lovely during the holidays!

Yes, with only 3 full days, there is too much to see to waste time swimming! We stay 8 nights, so we build in a water park day or two and at least a half day at the Grotto Pool - so we have a little break from all the park touring.

We will be staying at the Swan Nov. 21 - 28 (Thanksgiving is the 26th). Will the Swan be decorated for Christmas by then. Do they go all out like the Disney resorts do at Christmas?

When we arrived at the Dolphin the day after Thanksgiving in 2007, the Christmas tree was in the process of being put up. It wasn't finished until Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. However, Thanksgiving was on Nov. 22 that year, so the decorations may go up earlier this year. The Swan will have decorations, but nothing like the HUGE tree in the Dolphin's rotunda.

I read that the Swan and Dolphin have launched their own dining plan for $89 per adult per night. Has anyone used it yet? It lists that you order from a prix fix menu at the signature restaurants but I can't see any listed in the menu pages. Also, does anyone know if you have to use purchase it for every night of your stay?
