jjsdad--I'm not sure if they still allow it, but at one time, you could order ala carte rather than getting the buffet.

I would call them and ask.

I'm going to give them a call later on today and I will let you know what I find out. We have done cape may in the past and do love it, but I would rather just pop into the garden grove downstairs and eat if we are up to it or just bail otherwise. Pluse it would be a cool suprise to the kids when they saw the characters in there. And the menu items under "heavenly" are exactly that!

Not sure...but are you talking about Garden GROVE or Garden Grill?

Garden Grill is in Epcot and has the character breakfast. please see below

Garden GROVE is in the Swan and doesn't have characters.

Just wanted to make sure that was clear...because it is confusing.

Just wanted to clarify: Garden Grill @ Epcot discontinued their Character Breakfast a number of years back - they are not open for breakfast. In October 2008, they also stopped serving lunch. Currently the only option for Garden Grill is dinner (and that does have the characters).

Well, not that large, but ideally we would like to have the two kids in an adjoining room. When I called to make reservations, I was told they could make a request to have two rooms next to each other, but there would be no guaranties. It also did not appear that any of the suites would have two separate sleeping areas.

Anybody have any ideas?

Was this for the Dolphin? I just made a reservation for two connecting rooms at the Dolphin and I was told that they were guaranteed. Now I'm worried!

AH! I stand corrected! :rolleyes1 :thumbsup2

Woo Hoo for the DIS!

I love the DIS - I would have had NO idea that the Swan had a character breakfast on the weekends!

:yay:

I've got 2 quick questions for the experts:

Do the showers at the Dolphin have those curved outward shower rods? I know our room at the Swan didn't, but I can't remember about the showers at the Dolphin (it's been a few years since I've stayed in that wing).

Also, I noticed that valet parking is $12 per day, self-parking is $9 per day, and overnight is $16 per day. So is it the same $16 per day for overnight parking whether you leave the car overnight in self-parking or valet it overnight?

We have guaranteed connecting rooms at the Swan. At least our confirmation says they are connecting.

The PP said "adjoining". Maybe that was what they couldn't guarantee?

I just got that as well...but today.

Go to this link and look at the Executive Suite.

Thanks! It sounded like a great idea, but unfortunately I was told that this room was not available with SPG points.

Don't worry. My mistake was not calling the right place. SPG reservations told me it could not be done. However, I since called the hotel directly and they arranged to have two rooms next to each other, with an adjoining door. Seems that SPG reservations cannot do this, but the hotel can.

Make it one more who received it, but I am holding on to 3 rms at that price already with my teacher discount. I even called and asked about some of the other specials they are offering, but none seem to be available for my dates. Persistence has paid off in the past, so I'll keep calling. Thanks for sharing! :)

Hi everyone,

We are doing a split stay at the Dolphin for a few days and then the Swan on the tail end of my daughters Make a Wish trip.

Can you tell me what kind of activities we can expect for the kids at the hotel and/or poolside?

We will be there from 4/30-5/5.

Thanks.

these are the rates I was offered over the phone. I guess it was actually $149 and the dolphin was actually booked on the friday night(our last night) so we had to go for the swan which was even more.

Oooh, this was exactly what I was looking for, except for next year....what do you click on off the swandolphin main menu to find this? I'd like to keep checking it over the summer when they offer the rates for next year :thumbsup2

And BTW, I ended up booking a fireworks view room, and over the phone the price I got was $30 less a night than what was posted on the internet...seems like it's best to call directly for the best rates!

One question for you veterans...why is it more expensive to stay at the Swan?

Swan is a "Westin", therefore a bit more luxurious than the Dolphin, which is a "Sheraton". I love 'em both! :goodvibes

It varies - but make sure you check the conceirge desk for a printed list of poolside activities. In June we have had a DJ running games, contests, etc. There is hair braiding and tattoos, snow cone machine, and dive-in movies at night.

Others will be better at suggestions, but their is mini golf within walking distance, BC shows movies on the beach every night and all are welcome free of charge. You can rent Surrey bikes and small water crafts at BW. That's just what I could think of off the top of my head.

I'm guessing another reason is b/c their beds are technically queen sized where Dolphins are supposedly double (I know, falls under the luxury category). That's all I could think of, but I always thought it funny Swan cost more because I like the Dolphin more.

Welcome pnutallergymom!

We love to just stroll on the Boardwalk with the kids, which is right next to The Swan. In the evenings they have street performers (magicians, etc.) that are excellent. There's also lots of snacking all over The Boardwalk!

Here's my question - does anyone prepay beyond the first nights deposit? If you do, how do you do it?
Thanks in advance!

I do it every trip. I just call the hotel directly and tell them I want to make a payment (or pay for) my room(s).
