kerryk74 - what great service you had - so glad they were able to accomodate you in so many ways! I've never had anything less than stellar service at S/D.

I have the 2BR Executive Suite booked for March - did you have any attached bedrooms, or just the suite/parlor? If you took any pictures of it, could you post some please? Did your balcony face The Dolphin and beyond, MK I'm assuming, since you said you could see part of Wishes)?

So it is official, DH and I are staying at the Dolphin in May/June.:cool1:

I have read this very informative thread (thanks to all who contribute:thumbsup2).

I could not find a picture of the refillable mug. Does any one have the link if it is already posted? TIA!

Keep all of the great information and trip reports coming.

Can you tell me what rate you got? the best i am seeing is AAA rate of $169 for Dolphin. Anyone getting anything better?

thanks

I have a teacher discount of $159 for the end of May - keep calling each Friday when rooms go back into the system to see if there are any further discounts. It has happened before, hoping for success again.

can anyone tell me what those rooms are if you're looking at the Dolphin from the boat dock, on the wings that jut out, there is a row of rooms with balconies that come out in a semicircle and it looks like it's either one big balcony or maybe a few different balconies that are separated? I hope I'm explaining this so it makes sense. I was looking at my pictures that I took when I visited last year and I was wondering what room category that is and if you can see the Epcot fireworks from these balconies? From what I can remember, this part of the building is a teal color and it's in the wing that juts out toward the boat dock and there's something on the top of this wing that looks like a giant bowl or something....I hope this sounds familiar to someone! :lmao: Thanks if you can help!

I'm not 100% sure I understand, but I have stayed in "end rooms" that are at the end of the wing that face Epcot and they have extra large semi-circular baclonies. They are not suites, but just regular rooms that might be a tad bigger, but have awesome balconies. Luck of the draw to some extent.

I'll try to look back on this thread so I can show you a picture...I know I'm not explaining it correctly and I apologize...the bigger balconies sound nice...maybe that's what I'm describing??? Thanks for trying!

I also have the teacher rate of 159. They allowed me to add a second room for 119. We have friends that are planning on joining us, so I grabbed the extra discount.
The promotion is listed on their website. I think it is called "stay connected".
Great deal, if you need 2 rooms.:thumbsup2

Okay, I went over to the S/D picture thread and found a great picture of exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't figure out how to transfer the pic to my post, but here's the link:

It's post #19, the second photo down. Can anyone confirm what kind of room is attached to the extra large balcony on the end (the blue balcony that's a semicircle that juts out)? Is this one giant balcony or a few that are attached facing in opposite directions?

Those are king rooms, and some have 2 balconies: a regular one (see the rust colored section of the building) plus the large, semi-circle balcony. There are two semi-circle balconies in each blue end section for the two end rooms across the hall from each other: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b323/amcvicker/Dolphinside.jpg. There's a name for those rooms, but I don't remember what it is!

Thanks, at least I'm on the right track now :) If anyone can confirm the name of the room, that would be great. A bigger room and balcony sounds nice to me! I wonder if there are different views you can request for these rooms?

The room itself isn't larger than other king rooms, as I recall. I e-mailed someone at the Dolphin about the room type, and they are generally just referred to as “corner balconies.”

The view depends on whether you're on the east side or west side of the resort, and which direction you face. If you face west, you'll see Tower of Terror in the distance. If you face east, you'll see Epcot.

Silly question, but is there wireless Internet at the Dolphin?

I will find out. I have a contact who knows all.....:cool1:

Yes. You will be charged a "resort fee" per day which includes access to the health club, internet, (both wireless and DSL), pool towels, and I think a bottle of water per day. Maybe a few other things. I am sure that their website describes what is included.

Edit to add:
Here is what the website says:

Resort Service Package is $10 + tax per day and includes:
Up to 60 minutes free local telephone calls, toll free and credit card access calls (.10 cents per minute after 60 minutes)
20 minutes of domestic long distance per day
Unlimited access to the resort's health club facilities
In room high-speed Internet access
2 bottles of water daily

I really can't remember if the internet is wireless or wired, but you will be charged extra for it, regardless of the type. I think it is something like $10.95 per day?

Last time we went it was wired. If there was wireless anywhere onsite we were unable to find it/use it.

Here is the official word from the inside:
"They are the most expensive non-suite rooms. The ones with 2 balconies only exist on every other floor. The request would be for a corner king. (AK room type) They are located at the end of the fingers facing the Swan. An “EAK” Faces Epcot but very hard to get. The ones you are looking for end in 015. (Epcot view). The best room is either 9015 or 7015. They can be requested but if there is a major client (Some VIP) in the hotel or someone willing to pay $400 or more for their room they are going to get those rooms. Also if one does make a request, call the hotel directly. Front office number. The request can be noted, but again, it is very, very hard to get this granted as there will almost always be someone staying at the hotel who is paying rack rate or above and money speaks volumes when assigning rooms."

The Alcove room are the corner rooms, I am not sure if this is the name of the room you are looking for... but they have 2 views.
