Is it true that you can see the fireworks from either resort?

Technically yes. But watching from your room is nothing like watching up close and personal. I always tell people it's so worth the 15 minute walk to Epcot.

Cheers,

Even if you stand on the bridge from the Boardwalk. It is a nice view and a pleasant stroll! The Swan/Dolphin's location just can't be beat! <3

Roughly how much are the alcove rooms? And do all have kings or do some have 2 doubles?

Hello!

We are staying in a deluxe alcove in three weeks. We booked it for $231 per night not including fees and taxes. We are SPG members and used AAA to get that rate. I think the alcoves have many different set-ups. I have seen photos of them and they do not all look the same. But they do have some with 2 doubles and some with kings. Usually, there is also a pull out sofa also. Hope that helps!

Yay! Enjoy! And be sure to tell us all about it when you get back!

My family will be there three weeks from today and it will be our first stay there. We stayed at BWI last year and kept ending up at the Swalphin for meals and walking the grounds there. We liked the BWI, but felt it was not the right fit for us.

Have a great time!

Thanks Dan! Your posts have been so helpful in our decision to book the Dolphin this year.

You shouldn't have to. I can't remember the exact cut off number, but 7 people were no problem for the one room executive we have booked for June, we ended up with 5 people. I believe that it was over 10 people if you got a 2 bedroom executive suite.

It's really hard too say what kind of rates you could end up with, so your best bet is to check regularly, because prices can very from day to day, hour to hour or person to person. On our first visit to the Dolphin, June 2011, we ended up getting an a 1 BR executive suite for an incredible price of $309 a night, but it took about 6-8 calls over a few week period to get that price. We initially booked our executive suite for June of this year for $399, but after a few call we got it for just under $370, can't remember the exact price. I was quoted $359 on one call, but when my brother tried to book it a few hours later that price wasn't available.

Thanks for the tips! We will book very soon and then I will probably start calling weekly in September. It seems very early to book at a year out but with 4 rooms I don't want to chance them filling up with a conference before we do.

We booked October 2012 thru SW Vacations - a 7N stay = 4N @ Yacht Club. Booking this way included the air, gave us $100 credit on the room plus an upgrade and eliminated the parking and daily rm chg for internet, etc. You might want to price it out.

We are driving this year to save a lot on transportation. We drove for the first time on our last trip and stayed in a hotel one night both ways for $800 ($3.75/gal avg) Out of Wichita we can't come close to matching that with airfare for 4, even after we pay S/D for parking. We don't mind taking the bus to MK and AK but will have the convenience of driving to DTD! Great tip for others though!

Before I call Dolphin, does anyone know how many rooms can be linked to 1 AAA membership?

1 more question!
Is there a link to find what conferences are scheduled at the Swan/Dolphin? I've tried to google but haven't had any luck. I'm pretty sure Las Vegas has a link with conferences scheduled a year out so hopefully they do to somewhere.

Hi there...It's our last night here at the Swan (awesome trip)!

If anyone is at the swan or dolphin and would like to have 8 or so waters, we would be happy to give them away in the swan lobby sometime before 10 tues. eve. We stopped on the way in and picked up a case of dasani, and with the 2 daily complimentary bottles, we have the extras.

Heading home early tomorrow and again, we had a terrific time :)

We usually book resort view with balcony but we were once upgraded to the alcove room and we loved it. Since then I have not been able to book it myself - either to $ or sold out.

Did you book the alcove room on the SPG site - I am having trouble finding a decent rate even with SPG and AAA. Is the deluxe alcove under suites or rooms - Thanks :)

We booked by calling directly. I kept an eye on the rates online, but was able to get a little better rate by calling direct. They also gave me a free rollaway b/c they could not guarantee me a room with two doubles. They do a lot of conventions there, so the earlier you can book something, the better. I think the alcoves in particular go pretty fast.
