Thanks for the drink suggestions & menu. I usually consider ordering one of the creative cocktails, then go with the boring wine flight. Since we aren't going for a full meal, this weekend will be a good time to try one of the cocktails.

Traveling in May to the Dolphin, wondering if there is a height requirement for the waterslide at the Grotto pool? We have a 3 year old that will want to go down the slide for sure!

Never actually been down it myself, so not sure if there's a height posted. But, it's a long windy path up to the top, so you couldn't take your child to the top AND catch them at the bottom. But it's just a winding walkway up the hill, not stairs to climb (although in or standing next to the pool, you can't see a child walking up it). But it comes out right in front of the lifeguard chair . Sorry if that's completely no help! LOL

Pretty sure there is no height requirement. My twins have been doing that slide since they were 3. If your child can't swim, you can wait in the water at the bottom of the slide to catch it. You can't go down the slide with the child.

There's also a fairly new play structure on the Swan side you child will love.

Actually, you can walk up with your child, slide down first, and catch your child at the bottom. The lifeguard at the top of the slide can help the child get set to go.

Correct. No DME. You can take a Mears van for $19/one way; $36/round trip.

We just booked a trip for BWV and trying to convince my sister and family to tag along! Dolphin would be so convenient for them!!

No DDP either -- but the location, cost, and accommodations (both at Dolphin & Swan) more than make up for the loss of those benefits!

And if it would be a family going to Dolphin, a town car might be more economical than the Mears van. It would certainly be more comfortable!

Also, if your party is 4 or more I would look into a Towncar/Limo service. Once you hit 4 people the cost basically becomes break even, or even cheaper, plus you get a grocery stop!

When I answered, I was under the impression AimKo was going on another business trip to Dolphin!

It absolutely makes more sense for a family to get a town car -- the grocery stop is a definite plus!

I though you answer was very useful, I just wanted to add on to it. Also, when I pulled the tread up you following post on town cars wasn't posted yet and I didn't refresh it before I responded. How dare work interfere with my posting on the DISboards!!!

We have our first alcove room with balcony booked at the Swan. Where is the best location to request based on your experience?

Let me preface this by saying we've only stayed once

We were in the east (?) wing and all the food, busses, etc... are in the west (?) wing. (Someone please correct me if I reversed the two wings!) My sister and I have an amazing sense of direction and it was like a maze to get from our room down to those areas. Every hallway looks the same, and there are little mini lobbies amongst the floors that also all look the same My mom doesn't have as great of a sense of direction as we do, so she wasn't allowed to go anywhere alone! If you have directionality issues, or pre-teens who might be "on their own" to go to the pool/arcade/food areas, I'd suggest the west wing to make it easier

Thanks. This trip is just DH, our youngest grandson and me. I've stayed at the Swan 3 or 4 times in the past, but have been at the Dolphin for that last several trips and am having a brain block about which wing we preferred in the past.

The alcove rooms are terrific. They're the last rooms in each of the 'wings' that jut out from the main section of the Swan. We stayed in one at the Swan in 2010 - Room 592 in the West Wing - and absolutely loved the location, and the view from the room. Besides the extra space, I really liked that the room had windows on two sides, allowing for lots of extra light and several different views.

One of the best things about the Swan (for me, anyway) is that it's much easier to navigate than the Dolphin. Even the alcove rooms weren't much of a walk from the elevator, whereas the Dolphin hallways seemed to go on forever! And once you hit the lobby, the bus stop is a few steps out the front door, and the boat launch is a short walk out the back door.

For the best views, I would request a Boardwalk/Epcot view, on a higher floor (5 through 7).
