Thanks for the vote of confidence johnsonet! :)

Lilmattie13
There are no king beds at the Polynesian but for the suite in Tonga. The likelihood of being upgraded to the suite--:rotfl:--just kiddin' it could happen. You never know what type of magic you could receive! :thumbsup2

The regular (nonsuite) club level rooms are the same as the other longhouses queen/queen/day bed.

Hope your anniversary trip is wonderful!

You're welcome Tess ;)

See, Lilmattie13?? Told ya!

What is the depth of the quiet pool? the shallow end in particular? Thanks!

The shallow end of the quiet pool is all stair steps into the pool. From there it is around 3' and slopes to 8' beyond the rope. The shallow end runs from around 3'-5+'.

Last year we booked bounceback free dining for the Poly. My family has started this big debate tonight that they want to try something different and do a split stay at the Contemporary/Grand Floridian! :scared1: WHAT??? NO POLY???? :sad1:

Here's the vote....DS12 and I want Poly and are willing to do a split stay with the GF. DH, DS10 and DS7 all want to do a the CR/GF split. How in the world am I going to convince at least one of them to stay at the Poly. I'm frustrated because I'm out voted and it's not looking good. Thanks for letting me vent and wish me luck!!!!

I don't mean to suggest that you would point someone out as a poolhopper  I just mean that if I am staying at the Poly and cannot find a single chair then I would ask a lifeguard for help in finding a chair - I'd be hesitant to move towels from a chair but hopefully they wouldn't! Actually, I would move a towel in a heartbeat. But people have started leaving magazines and sunblock too as "props" to make you think they're really around when they aren't. IT'S TRICKY, I'm telling you. It's a big problem and it's not just at Disney World! If you were to voice your concern about not being able to find a chair then hopefully that would jump-start a "crackdown", even if that meant a security guard going chair to chair asking to see Poly room keys. It was just an idea for one way to deal with it if it becomes a problem during your stay...

:rotfl:That is funny. I WON'T be the pool hopping police, but I WILL take your your advice and ask a CM for help if I can't find a chair ;).

Now, I have a question about our room...I understand we'll be in the Hawaii building for CL. We've got GV reserved. Can you suggest a certain part of that building that I should request? We'd like to be close to the lounge and maybe the elevator. Is it possible to be close to both? I can't imagine even having a "bad" room location, but I've never stayed at the Poly.

Oh man, I feel for you. We did do extensive research on other resorts for our next trip but we kept going back to the Poly. If we do stray in the future it will be an Epcot resort.

I have to say, our last trip we walked around GF for a while to get a feel for the place to maybe possibly stay there and while I love to visit GF and take in the hotel and grounds, I felt more at "home" at the Poly.

Good luck. Bribery works well in my home ;)

Well, if you're doing all the planning & the work, I think you should get an extra vote!;) A Poly/GF stay would be really nice!:)

If you want to be by the water then I would request Fiji for sure I have seen some views from rooms on the marina side of Fiji that were awesome!
Thanks Johnsonet! I think I'll be happy with Fiji. I'm a Pisces and I like to be around water (too bad I can't afford lagoon view ;) )

What date are you checking in...we are checking in on the 25th!! This was a last minute trip so I have no ADR's at all...just called GC and the night I want is completely sold out..no surprise but I was hoping.

MJ

Hi MJ! I'll also be checking in on the 25th! What time will you be arriving? Our plane lands around 10:30 and I'm hoping to be standing in the lobby by 12:00...we'll see. Keep trying for your ADRs, if you're persistent, it will pay off. I booked all my ADRs a while ago, but since have upgraded from AKL to Poly and have kept trying to get Park Faire for bfast and dinner. It took a few days, but I got both of them :) If only I get an O'Hana breakfast, my DD would be on :cloud9: . Maybe we'll see you around!

I agree with the "feel" of the Poly compared to the GF. We've walked around there many times and it's just not the same, but I'm willing to give it a try. What I'm really trying to get them to do is dump the CR...stayed there before, it's not bad, just not my favorite....the Poly!

Bribery might work, but it will have to be a really good bribe! :rotfl:

Now that's a card I just might have to play.....even though I would hate too, it might come down to that. Poly/GF would be better than no Poly at all!

I stayed at CR before and it was OK. Granted this was back in 95 or 96 before the room renovations. But I just didn't feel the CR felt like Disney. It didn't have the same magic as some of the other theme hotels do. I'd definitely prefer a Poly/GF split than a GF/CR split.

which side of Fiji has a better view? The marina side, or Luau Cove side?

I have stayed both and they are equally nice. On the Marina side (3rd floor room) we were able to see the Electric Water Pageant from our balcony and the volcano pool was cool at night.

the Luau side had the most beautiful view of the GF and the wedding chapel.

I think you will be happy on either side. I feel like for GV rates you are getting a bonus in Figi. Again, we were on the third floor both times so I am not sure about other floor views.

Tell them it has to be Poly/CR or Poly/GF. And if it's CR, you have to have MK view tower rooms. I'm not a fan of the decor, but the view is amazing.

We've started our countdown....I am over the moon excited.

can you view the fireworks/EWP from all of the beach areas? Is there one better than another? I thought I read somewhere that they pipe in the music on one of the beaches???

Thanks! I requested Fiji 3rd floor so I'll cross my fingers and hope for some pixie dust!

Hubby and I are actually flying into West Palm Beach on the 24th to visit FIL and then want to be on the road by 5:30 am to get to Poly early (about a 3 hour drive). DD is flying into MCO on the 24th and staying at the Hyatt in the airport. She is either going to take ME to the poly or maybe we will pick her and boyfriend up at MCO...still not sure. We hope to check in by 10:00.

Anyone know if you can upgrade to Concierge at check-in (or is it strictly based on room availability). I have been trying but no availability each time I call.

We have done concierge at the Yacht Club and it was awesome (that is my second favorite resort after the Poly).

Hey, next month is my 50th birthday and hubby and I will be married for 30 years this year...I can splurge a bit right!!!!

MJ

Why not subtly remind them that "If the Momma ain't happy - no one is happy!" ;) I hope you can convince them to see things your way! :goodvibes

Thank you for that! I requested patio or balcony in Fiji myself. I'm actually going to send a fax over three days before we arrive (which I have never done) asking for a Marina view. That would be my dream view! :lovestruc

I hope you get it! Those views look wonderful. Of course, the pics that DearDaisyinDurham took of Samoa also look tempting! :goodvibes

kaffinito, I hope you get your dream room!:cloud9: I've made requests, too, but with the crowds that week and how full WDW is right now, I'm not expecting them to be met (but I'm still hoping;)).
