Can someone PM me the email address for the Polynesian IPO? The one on Tikiman's site is coming back as undeliverable, and since they haven't contacted me yet, I'd like to touch base with them.

TIA!!! :goodvibes

ETA: Got it, thanks DisneyMom92 and Grace&Carolinesmom!! :goodvibes

OMG I totally agree! I've heard a lot of people make negative comments stating how the Poly looks like "Brady Bunch goes to Hawaii".

For me, it's a selling point!! :rotfl2:

The mysterious tiki, Alice and the girls in hula lessons, Greg's surfing accident, the spider... Ahhh, the memories. :lmao:

Yes, but my DH is going to be making the "tiki" noises/music from that episode while we're there -- I can already tell. I loved the Brady Bunch, so it's not a problem for me!:)

We do, I should have said that differently :) That's a good point though because it really doesn't matter what we request because we're checking in the Monday of Memorial Day so I'm sure they'll just give us whatever they have. We started out with our reservation being a park view and now I'm kind of wondering if we should have kept it... however it was a $700 difference from our res. now! But like I said we're just excited to be going so we'll be happy either way!

;) Glad you knew that! I often wonder if our requests (and we do make a few) even make a difference with our room assignments.:confused3

Ahhh, but if anything goes wrong you can just blame it on the tiki  (I couldn't help it;) )

That is hysterical!! :lmao: I'm having flashbacks!!! :rotfl: I have to agree, it's part of the charm. :hippie:

I have stayed at the POFQ, WLCG, and GF but I am looking forward to my stay at the Poly more than i did staying at the other resorts. I like the other ones alot but there is just somthing about the Poly that makes it diff. I was wondering i know this is kind of a generic question but does anyone know if they run the bus earlier for the early morning extra magic hours at AK?

Uh, YEAH 'cause that's why I love this resort! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: Plus it also reminds me of the episode of The Jeffersons when they went to Hawaii.

Ahhhh the 'kitsch'...gotta love it! I especially love it now since I just paid off my Dec Poly trip today. Woo hoo!

In general, the buses start about 1 hr/ 1/2 hr before the Early Hours.

I have been enjoying this thread and need to thank all of you for helping me make the biggest money decision in my life next to buying our house and getting married :rotfl:. I booked a room at CSR, then switched to ASMu family suite and minutes ago, emailed :surfweb: our TA at Dreams Unlimited to switch to Poly GV AND add a night for 12/4/09 - 12/11/09. I used AAA for 15% off but the sticker shock :scared1: and pit in my stomach  is still there. I wonder if there may be a bigger discount offered between now and then that we could use.

This will be our first family trip (our b/g twins will be 3yrs2mos) and may be one of maybe two trips we'll make to WDW (I can hear the gasps from all you frequent World visitors) so why not do it up right the first time??? I am trying to justify paying more than double for the room by focusing on the ease to MK and Epcot, watching fireworks from the beach, options to eat, etc. My DH even agreed with me (actually you) on all the pros by staying at the Poly and not out in hills. Also my girl has been recently diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), has many food allergies and may be better off at a place that appears to be a little more relaxed, has no Pop Warner and won't be over stimulated. I write all this b/c I just want you all to tell me that we made a good choice and I know you will since this is THE POLY thread ;) . Thanks for reading this, I'm excited :yay:, nervous  and can't believe it's still over a year away.

I just realized we only have five weeks till we arrive at the Poly for the first leg of our land/sea Christmas vacation:santa: After waiting a year and a half time is now flying! I am so excited, yet am beginning to stress out over packing.:hyper: This will be our first flight with the new luggage restrictions, and I am one of those who had no problem filling the old two bags per person:rotfl2: I have been reading DISboards for the past 18 months, and it seems as if everything I learned has flown my brain:confused3 Got all our ADR's Got our waitlisted upgrade to Club Level Lagoon View. Passports are ready, and online check in is ready to print out. Yet I still feel out of sorts.:sad2: Am I just spazzing out, or have any of you ever gotten this way when it gets down to the wire?

Welcome to the Poly board!

I think you made the right decision. As for the $$$, it's a long time between now and next Dec. and hopefully a better code will come out that you can use. We always book AAA rate and then look/read here carefully for a better deal.

Staying on the monorail is SO convenient with kids, especially little ones like yours. We took our DD when she was 3 1/2 and she fell asleep in her stroller on the way out of the MK. We were able to roll her stroller onto the monorail and get her to our hotel room without waking her up. It's such a luxury for anyone, but with 2 little ones you'll be so glad that you made this choice!:)

We also dont go to WDW often, and so I try to make our few trips more memorable, longer, and more relaxing. (We can drive to LA and go to DL, so those are our "quick" trips!)

I think you will be very happy with your choice. You are staying at a wonderful, wonderful resort. A good friend of mine took her daughter who also is ASD and they stayed at the Poly for the same reason - to be on the monorail and close to MK. Her daughter had a much better experience that trip than when they had stayed off-site the trip before... The pools and beach are great too.
I think the difference in price will be worth it for you and your family. You will LOVE the Polynesian :cloud9:
Not sure about getting a better price, someone else can help, I'm sure.
Have fun :cheer2:

Way back when, on our first visit to Disney (7 days at CBR) and when our kids were young, we came to the conclusion that staying on the monorail was worth every penny spent. After our first visit, we came to the conclusion that at Disney time is money and you pay loads of money to gain the time.

The next year (and after that first visit we weren't even sure there was going to be a "next" visit) and after much thought about vacationing, we decided we were headed back to Disney and staying at the Polynesian. Through happenstance, we were upgraded to GF, but that visit validated our belief that staying on the monorail with young kids was a smart move IF we were able to afford it. The following year we did stay at our beloved Polynesian and have done so nearly each and every year since.

As you can see from our sig pic, those kids are not "young" any longer, but we have not been able to give up our favorite resort. We no longer try to justify the cost--there's no way to do that--but we can afford it and so we do what pleases us. Now, I will admit that over the years we have tried the other resorts on property for a day or two here and there--but the bulk of all of our trips are spent at the Polynesian.

You may be able to get a better deal down the road, just keep your eyes open on the Codes and Rates board. . .I'm sure there have been some offers this year for that time period. :thumbsup2

Who knows, maybe you and your family will love the Polynesian as we (and a good many others on this board) do. :lovestruc Don't second guess yourself and don't try to justify the expense, just save for it and enjoy your vacation!

As a mom of an ASD child (she's nine now), let me reassure you that the Poly is WONDERFUL! Much more relaxed with less people and a more sedate atomosphere. It was easy for us to get back to our room when she got overwhelmed at the parks. With the soft music, the beach, the much-less-hectic-than-the-parks counter service restaurant (Captain Cooks) an on-site child care center which has been wonderful for my ASD child (Neverland Club). Regarding food allergies, when I took my nephews with us to the Poly, the restaurants were very good with helping us get food selections that didn't aggrivate his allergies. :thumbsup2

Am I just spazzing out, or have any of you ever gotten this way when it gets down to the wire?

As a Type-A personality, it isn't a trip to Disney World unless I have a few 'spaz sessions' before we leave. :lmao: And when we did the Land and Sea with the Poly, I had even more of a spaz attack because passports and other necessities were involved. Don't worry, you're normal and you'll have a wonderful trip. :thumbsup2

To Tess, johnsonet, MsStinkerBelle and mmears:

Thanks for the encouragement, support and advice :grouphug: . I notice each of you are veteran DISers and visitors to WDW so I am feeling less stressed!
