Can someone help me do my laundry?:rotfl:

Can you please tell me:

-- where is the laundry room located?

-- how far is it from the Hawaii building?

-- is there only one laundry room?

-- how many machines do they have in there?

If anyone has seen photos of the laundry room, could you please point me to them?

We're going for 10 days and dont want to check our suitcases on the plane, so I guess we'll be doing lots of laundry!:)

I spent lots of time in the laundry room last May, so I think I can answer most of your questions! :rotfl:

There's only one; it's located at the front of the resort, in the same building as the Neverland Club, and near the bus stops. The most direct path from Hawaii would probably be past the quiet pool and Tokelau.

The laundry room is a good size ... not sure exactly how many machines are there, but I would estimate 8 or 9 each of W/Ds. There's plenty of room for sorting and folding. The waiting area is pretty small ... maybe half a dozen chairs, but there is a pop machine and a TV.

I actually have photos of the laundry room, but not sure if they're on my computer or not. I'll check, and if I have them, I"ll post them for you.

Hope this helps a little! :goodvibes

EDITED TO ADD: Found the photos (does it make me weird that I took these? LOL)

Question: LV Concierge is now available at the AP rate for 4 out of our 5 nights (not the 1st) in December. Would you book GV Concierge for the 1st night and LV Concierge for the next 4 vs keeping all 5 in a Theme Park View room? We are switching to the GF Main Bldg for our last 2 nights. We've never stayed at the Poly, so I didn't know if it would be worth changing rooms.

ETA: this is on-line. Would they have more rooms available if I called?
Even though my family and I enjoyed our Lagoon View in the Hawaii Longhouse I think you are already doing enough switching Resorts, so I would leave your reservations the way are.

One question....... am I going to need ADR's for breakfast at the Kona (?)Cafe? It would be great to roll out of bed and wander down to eat. I'm not looking for entertainment, just want my coffee!!!!

I so feel you on the coffee thing, especially since Kona has that pressed pot of 100% Kona coffee! :cloud9: While it's good to have ADR's for Kona, there is a chance you can be seated without one. I've never seen Kona extremely packed for breakfast (I think 'Ohana has that honor) but I'd have an ADR anyway because if you can't make it you could always cancel. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your imminent return to the Poly! :cheer2:

Anyone going in the next month or so that could do me a favor?? We have the Poly booked for March 7-14 (its our first time there- and probably our only as we now have 6, but youngest is only 1 now) and I wanted to suprise the kids on Christmas Day with the news.
I was hoping that someone could pick me up 3 post cards of the Poly- I guess they sell them- and mail them to me. I can send you the money ahead of time and a self addressed stamped envelope to mail them back to me in. If someone could do this and it wouldnt be too much trouble I would appreciate it. I am going to get leis from a party store here to wrap up with the post cards- if I can get them.
Just pm me if anyone is willing to do this. DH and I are SO EXCITED about staying at the Poly. I know the kids will be too and am about to bust to tell them!!!!!!

DiznEeyore,

Thanks so much for the laundry info!!! It's just what I was looking for. No, I dont think it's weird to take photos of the laundry area -- I was hoping someone on this board would have some pictures lying around.

:)

Hey everyone -- check out the new thread on this board called "Poly roof painting." It sounds like they're working to make the Poly look better (some people have been saying that is needs a good paint job) and that they might be changing some colors in the process...:)

This would be great, the good thing about Disney is that they are always spending money to fix things and they are usually for the better. When you look at something easy like needing a paint job, this will spruce something right up and give it a fresh look.

We don't arrive until the 21st, so I don't know that I could help you. I will be happy to, if you don't get anyone else before then. If needed, just pm me the address, I will take care of the rest.

What is the best house to request for either a patio or balcony and close to TTC and GCH ) if that is possible.

Do most of you request a building? or let Disney work their magic and see what you get? Which buildings have the larger rooms?

If you make a request, do you think that keeps you from getting a surprise upgrade?
Request 1st floor Raratonga and you won't believe how close you are to the GCH :thumbsup2 Your room will be nice no matter where you are at the Poly.

I remember your awesome photos from when you were there this summer. :) I hope we're lucky enough to get as great a view!

I was stunned when I found out dh was able to switch us. Everything but garden view has been booked up forever, but I guess it's true that lots of people are cancelling, because every category is available for the entire week we'll be there.

I have to say I'm sad for anyone who has to cancel due to the economy, but it does make me hope the parks might be a little less crazy over Christmas, you know?
Thanks.
Have you requested a 3d floor room???? ;)

I hate the thought that people are having to cancel too :guilty:

Personally, I would take 4 nights LVCL over 5 TPV. Go for the club level. You wouldn't regret it, especially when you walk into the room. Request 1st or 3d floor and GO FOR IT :wizard: Having the lounge will be invaluable...

I just booked our honeymoon at the Poly!
Congratulations. What a wonderful place to honeymoon :cloud9:

Checking in and subbing to this thread! We'll be staying at the Poly for the first time May 1-9! I'm so excited, as our kids will be 5 and 3 - I think the monorail will be sooooo nice!
You're going at a great time of year! You will love being on the monorail. Your children are adorable - they are going to go crazy at the Poly :dance3:

Thanks! Yes, the kids are going to go crazy - I showed them some of the pictures from this thread - mostly the ones of the pool - and they were literally jumping up and down! I'm thinking I shouldn't have shown them - they're already asking "how much longer till we can swim in that volcano pool?" :rotfl:

Whats the best way to get to WL from the Poly? Would u walk to the TTC and take a bus? Or would it be quicker to take a boat from TTC?

Anyone have any thoughts on how crowded things will be for us March7-14? We have never gone at that time, but now that oldest DD is in college, we have to go on her breaks or summer:scared1: or over the holidays. Yikes!!
What about the weather? Is it warm, cold, rainy? Thanks

Denise - I would stay put for the 5 nights in a TPV room before switching to the GF. The only way I would book GVC and then LVC is if I was staying the whole time at the Polynesian. Two extra moves in a 7 night stay would be exhausting! Have fun. We booked the Polynesian 7/4 offer for our Feb. trip and the GF SL for the first week of our June/July trip - then onto BC!

You can't get to ANY resort directly from the TTC, unless you count walking to the Polynesian.

Just to explain ...

TTC's only boat goes to and from Magic Kingdom only.

The monorails: a resort beam (TTC >> Poly >> Grand Floridian >> Magic Kingdom >> Contemporary >>> TTC), an express beam (TTC >> Magic Kingdom >> TTC) and an Epcot beam (TTC >> Epcot >> TTC).

There are only two Disney Transport buses at TTC: one goes between TTC and Animal Kingdom, and one goes between TTC and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Using Disney Transport, your best way to Wilderness Lodge is to monorail over to Magic Kingdom and then catch the motor launch (boat) to Wilderness Lodge from there ... all of this is outside of MK itself, so you don't need to enter the park.

March is a pretty busy time with Spring Breakers at the parks but it is still pretty manageable. Fortunately you're not going during Easter Week which is :scared:  :scared1: which rivals Christmas Week. You should be fine. :thumbsup2

What about the weather? Is it warm, cold, rainy? Thanks

Around March the rains shouldn't be a problem. The weather is usually dry and pretty warm (mid 60's - 70's). But I recommend people always bring clothing they can layer when travelling to Florida between November and April.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

But then how to guests from other resorts get back to their resort after spending the day at MK? Aren't there buses at the TTC for the different resorts?

There are bus stops outside the MK and buses that go to each resort. :) No need to even go over to the TTC.
