We'll be at the Poly Oct 9-13 and I've tried many times to have any of the available discounts appiled to our reservation without any luck. It's not the end of the world, but it would have been nice. Anyway I've looked at the discount threads on the board and have noticed that there weren't too many posting about receiving a discount for the Poly. So I was just curious if anyone keeping up with this thread had received one. TIA

I was looking at that weekend too, b/c the kids are off school the 9th&10th..I was looking with the Disney Visa code, and the only things avail were Pop, POR and AKL....this was early last week...I think it's so tough cause that's Columbus day weekend too, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Stephanie, I love your photos! You have a beautiful family. The costumes are great. This past week while we were there, it was much fun watching everyone going to that. We were in MK that day,but weren't attending the party so we left the park around 6:30. Iam going to try and post my photos today. I looked at my Photopass photos and own photos and the ones I took at the Poly turned out nice.

Shell54, sounds like a great trip! Congrats on the upgrade....that's fantastic. Looking forward to your photos.

Views from concierge lounge, the pirate pumpkin I gave my DH, the beautiful Cindy bride we saw on our walk, views from our Room #3534 in Hawaii and some fun random shots (I got to meet a Princess!) I couldn't copy PhotoPass photos yet, I guess I have to wait til I get CD in the mail.

The wonderful views of the lagoon and magic kingdom were from the conciege lounge and the side views of the volcano pool were from our 3rd floor GV room #3534. The Disney florist did the pirate pumpkin and DH loved all the goodies in it. I loved meeting a princess:) I have a few more but they're Photopass, as you can tell, it was just me and DH on the trip:lovestruc

Shell, looks like a WONDERFUL trip! You had lots of Pixie dust, I can see!!! Way cool to have seen a Cinderella bride, too! Thanks for sharing your trips pix!

Thanks BCV23. Disney Florist was awesome. My DH got a huge kick out of the pirate pumpkin..we are big kids:)

BCV23 and Piglets Mommy - thanks for the replies! I thought the Columbus Day holiday probably had something to do with it too. This trip is a surprise for my HS senior DS. His favorite resort is the Poly (mine too) :worship:, so I didn't want to change resorts even to save some cash - which would have been spent elsewhere that week-end anyway!:rotfl:

Enjoy your trip BCV23:yay:

Hi Everyone. We checked in last Sunday at about 2:30 after our 11AM flight out of Philly. I had requested Tahiti or Tokeleloi 3rd floor on our reservation. The very sweet lady who checked us in (we took the ME from the airport with no complaints) was very nice and I made no requests for upgrades or even enquired if my requests had been met. I just smiled at her and my husband and I admired the lobby of the Poly and waited for her to hand us our info. I almost died when she told us we had been given a complementary upgrade to Hawaii:banana: . Our room in Hawaii was 3rd floor garden view with a side view of the volcano pool. The conceirge staff was wonderful and we loved the goodies and drinks that were put out. The lounge was fabulous for viewing Wishes and we are now spoiled . We took a walk later in the week to the GF and saw a wedding with a bride dressed like Cinderella and the beautiful glass coach and white horses were out for her. I took photos and will post. I will also get photos up of our Hawaii room views when I figure out how to post. We had a great week. Highlights were..our upgrade to Hawaii at checkin , Tusker House lunch (delish!), seeing that magical wedding in progress at the GF..what a dress, and the congenial staff at the Poly. We met no one who was rude. Our room was very quiet. We were at the end of hall, so we only had one neighbor next . It was very quiet. The parks were pretty quiet and "do able" in our opinions. Both pools were great. We actually liked the quiet pool better. The volcano pool got very crowded in late afternoon.
Things we didn't like: Kona Cafe:sad2: ...the service was awful. The waitress forgot my DH's orange juice and never brought him a glass of water that he asked for. Compared to Boma (who had the best service of any place we went..Kona seemed even worse) Another annoying thing was one day we came back to our room after 4pM and our room still wasn't cleaned. We just told the maid when she came around to give us clean towels. That only happened once. We liked being on the monorail because The BUSES! We only had a bus issue once and that was at Animal Kingdom..we waited 35 minutes for a bus back to the Poly. The night we had dinner at Boma we took a cab:thumbsup2 Mousekeeping was great except for that one incident and I got tons of great H2O products and brought a lot home . The solar gel is great. Will post photos when I can. It was a great week, we love the Poly. We are seriously thinking of changing our June reservations from the GF to the Poly.

We just got back too and also received an upgrade to Hawaii..I was grinning like a fool for a good couple of hours after. The CM who checked us in (Chuck) was so nice. Everyone at the Poly was friendly . I'm so glad my Dad picked this resort but now I am spoiled. I consider myself to be a Poly fan now and will stay there in 2009 with my sis. I'm toying with garden view or going for lagoon or theme park view..I have about a year to pay this off so I may go for it. My sister will love this resort.

I too found mousekeeping to be pretty good, I think all the resorts have seen a slight downturn in mousekeeping quality so I tried to not let small things get to me.

We did Kona Cafe for breakfast 9/23 and found them to be OK. My Tonga Toast was good and the coffee was great.

Loved being on the monorail. Didn't have too much of an issue with buses, most came within 15 minutes.

I'll post pics as well- I'll be downloading them soon.

Me too!!! Love it, love it, love it!!! I have some really nice pics, but have to download them from my camera...then figure out how to get them here. Some of the pics I see-I can actually remember standing in the exact spot taking just about the same picture.

Can't wait to see your pics! Wasn't Hawaii great:cloud9: We only had the one issue with the buses..but it was annoying..45 minutes at AK..otherwise it was only 5 minutes or less everywhere we went. The monorail was great and DH will only stay at monorail resorts now after our week at the Poly.

Lots of wonderful information in this thread! We'll be at the Poly April 09, and just can't wait!:goodvibes
