I hope you get the chance to meet Conc on your next trip! :)

I hope we meet soon too.

BCV, I'm sure you have seen me, although I've been trying to figure out who you are too :lmao:

:rotfl: Well, one of these trips we'll figure it out!

We will be staying at Poly in October, and I've asked this question before but got no answers. We have a garden view room. Is this a decent type of room? I'm not expecting a room, like you would get overlooking magic kingdom or the pool, but are these rooms on a relatively quiet side? One of my biggest peeves are rooms overlooking parking lots.

Any input is appreciated.

Gardenview rooms at the Polynesian are beautiful! A large majority overlook the courtyards, pools or marina. Even the relative few that face the parking lot in Rapa Nui have pretty landscaping in between. There are also rooms in Raratonga that face the parking lot but the monorail and a well landscaped hill are all I noticed the one night that we spent in one. I agree with PNOTE4, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Oh, and the rooms we've had that face the respective pools have not been loud at all.

OMG. We are planning afternoons for rest/pool time, although the kids are intrigued with the idea of swimming while watching fioreworks. We have all of Sunday as a "free" day. We are me, DBF, DD 14, DS 15. Breakfast at Kona Cafe and then I'm hoping to at least all start out at the pool for a bit of down time, lunch at the Rose & Crown, then I suspect the kids will be off somewhere at least till dinner. Since the weather channel says it may not be a great pool day. I may use the afternoon to do some shopping in Epcot. We have a 7PM ADR at the Wave so we may be back for Wishes. I'll keep my eye out! This will sound stupid but what is "LGMH"? We are hard to miss--me in my ECV (on the beach it's a cane) and short, my short daughter, short boyfriend and then my very tall son towering over us all!

We plan to come back to the hotel everyday and do naps and pool time - we will be the ones chasing a 15 month old around who won't listen- oh wait that is probably half the poly...:lmao:

DD has a tinkerbell outfit I think I'm going to bring but can't decide when to put her in it!

Less than 3 weeks to go :yay: I got a nice surprise this morning-i called to transfer my disney rewards $ to my rewards card- I must have earned some bonus $$$ at some point because I ended up with 181.00 to spend :cool1:

BCV23: I really hope we meet some day too! :sunny:

ConcKahuna: Am I going to be banned from the Polynesian now?? Are you serious that someone at the pool heard me scream when I saw you?? That is too funny!! :lmao: (And just wait till next time!!! :rotfl: )

lillykat: Are you doing any character meals at all? If so, that'd be a cute time for your DD to wear her Tinkerbell costume. :tinker:

Kteacher: $181! Woo hoo! Have fun spending your rewards!! :woohoo:

I am honestly missing the Polynesian so much!! I keep looking at pictures of the resort and it's extremely beautiful but it always makes me want to cry.

momatater, sorry I couldn't chat more as you were leaving! Darn busy mornings, getting in the way of my socializing!! :rotfl:

Yeah, what's up with that?? :rotfl2:

You guys at the Poly didn't get rid of me forever...we booked bounce back and will be back with you next Sept!!! And I'll have to come by and say "hi" when Tim and I are on our "no kids allowed" trip in Jan. as well.

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to stop in and tell you I will be finishing my report soon. We arrived home yesterday and I have been busy busy with mounds (and I mean mounds!) of laundry and trying to get the children back into the everyday routine before they head back to school in the morning. I will try and finish my report tonight, and hopefully gets some pics posted as well.

I hope all of you there or going soon have a WONDERFUL trip! Can't wait to hear all the reports!!!

Be back soon!

That outfit is too cute! Actually, your 15 month old probably listens at least as well if not better than my teens! My DD 14 loves Tinkerbell and has her shirt ready to wear in MK. She hopes to be able to wake up Tink, although I have sworn to never tell any of her friends!

Is anyone else going to be at the Poly in October???

I am so excited to be able to say we are going "next month!"

We will be flying in Oct 9th & departing Oct 13th!
Our (DD9 :cheer2: & myself :wizard: ) 1st stay @ the Poly!~!

LOL - just did a preview & saw that OLD ticker from almost two years ago - going 2 update it right now!:rotfl:

I got one of the parking lot view rooms when we were there in August. All of them (I think) are in Rapa Nui. It wasn't too bad. I posted pictures of our view on the old version of this thread, and I think SeaSpray linked to them on the first page of this thread.

There are many more GV rooms at the Poly that have wonderful views of gardens and greenery than ones that face the parking lot. If you are concerned, add "non-parking lot view" to your room request.

Have a great trip!

We are doing Chef Mickeys for dinner than extra magic hour so I was thinking maybe that night?

We are also doing breakfast at Ohana and dinner at the end at garden grill.

So I think probably chef mickeys - but do you think she might be cold?

I got back from the Poly about a month ago from my honeymoon. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it was easily the greatest trip of my life. Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Fay did everything she could to ruin our trip. The staff were all extremely nice and helpful. When we got to our room, there was a gift basket with many neat treats waiting for us. The concierge in the Tonga building was somewhat limited with food, but they had plenty of cookies, cupcakes, and chips to hold my wife and I over until our next meal. One thing that I found really neat was that the concierge guy, I forgot his name, knew who I was before I even opened my mouth. He was very pleasant even though every time I needed help he was no longer there. I think he only stayed until about 1 PM. In the middle of the storm, it was nice to have a totally covered walkway to the Great Ceremonial House. We didn't get wet at all. All in all we had a great time. It was very expensive, but it was an amazing trip and a wonderful way for us to start our married lives together. I will try to post pictures in the future if anyone is interested.

definitely post pictures. we might have been there at the same time as you. we were in hawaii bldg. concierge is awesome!

NavyDotz- we'll be at the Poly the same time as you :). Are you going to MNSSHP on the 10th?

OK. The suitcases are packed, measured and weighed. Phew. On to carryons. Helping me through this marathon is knowing that 72 hours from now, I will be dining at 1900 Park Fare!! My too-cool teens are finally excited, and it is extra funny seeing them trying to be cool while practically jumping up and down!

I would say that in the restaurant she'd be fine. For the park, maybe just bring a sweater/jacket to put over her Tink costume incase it's chilly or, if she's in the stroller, then a blanket to throw over top of her? She looks SO cute!

Congratulations :flower3: Many Happy Years to You Both:goodvibes . Would love to see pics.

Hi all,

Dh and I just got back from the Poly last night and I wanted to post to thank all of you for your wonderful tips! We had a wonderful time. The resort is absolutely amazing . . . so beautiful! I'll post some pics later after I get everything unpacked and the pics are downloaded.

Our only complaint was with Mousekeeping. I hate to say it (it didn't ruin our trip), but it truly was terrible. The rooms I've stayed in at a Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn were much cleaner than what we experienced at the Poly. Our breakfast dishes would sit for days, surfaces were not cleaned AT ALL, beds barely made, etc, etc. For a deluxe resort, we found this to be very disappointing. The good thing is that is our only complaint! We were fortunate enough to have a 40% off code, but if we had paid rack rates we would have been disgusted.

I don't want to dwell on that though . . . the resort itself is fantastic. The caast members (other than Mousekeeping!) were wonderful. The convenience of the monorail and TTC was great.

We were in Tokelau, so we could just walk to the TTC and we were at the very end (by the beach) so we had a great view of the fireworks from Illuminations right from our balcony. That was magical pixiedust:

All in all, it was an amazing trip that DH and I will never forget!
