Do all of the rooms at the Poly have a balcony or patio?

Good morning all - just a quick note to thank everyone for their help this trip. A few more hours and I will be at my happy place. Aloha.

Bye all my fellow Poly lovers, I'm getting ready to pack up the laptop so I have one less thing to do at 5am before we head to the airport.

I'll be back next week with lots of great pictures and reviews!! :thumbsup2

So the little boats are going the opposite direction of the monorail?

That makes sense!

Do you know if it takes longer to take the big ferry to the MK or the resort launches? (Just loading & transport time, since otherwise it would depend on where your room is).

Yes, the boats go in the opposite direction and it does make sense, doesn't it?

I've never timed the trip on the launches to the MK but it is quick. Loading/unloading is much faster too because of lower capacity. Returning to the Polynesian there's the extra stop at the GF of course. Overall, it's probably a wash.

For us, it's fun to leave the MK and pick. If the ferry is loading, that will probably be the fastest of all. But if a launch is approaching or loading we'll usually take it as it's so pleasant as well as fast. And if the monorails don't seem to be in a hold pattern, that's fun too. We love the transportation options at the Polynesian.

Hi - I am posting this question again in hopes of a response. We just booked Poly for this January( I am soooo excited) I am planning to make a room request since we would love to be near the GCH (have a 3 year old that we often end up carrying!) but would also like to be near a pool. Is there a longhouse we should request that offers both. We only booked garden view. TIA!!!

Raratonga is another good choice for you. It's the closest of all to the GCH (beating Niue by a few feet:) ) and is right by the quiet pool. It also is a larger longhouse than Samoa or Niue so you may have a better chance of getting that request. But it might be best to just request close to GCH and pool since then the assignor will know what you want. If you name a building and there are no rooms available in that building, the assignor has to guess why you wanted it as they put you somewhere.

Hi All!

This is a great thread.

We are going to the World for the first time in February and are staying at the Polynesian. Don't know much about it, so this has been helpful.

My DD is in a wheelchair, so I thought the monorail would be a good option for us.

Are there a lot of kid's activities during the day? My DD and DS are early risers, but will probably be tired by afternoon. So I think we will probably head pack to the resort for some downtime at that point.

DisneyLily, if mousse is sold, it would probably be upstairs in Samoa Snacks but I kind of doubt they carry it. Most of their toiletries are the basics and very small at that. Maybe one of the people who are checking in today:cool1: could check for you?

It's possible that the Spa at the GF sells it. There website is relaxedyet.com. The spa is a short and lovely walk. Oh, Ivy Trellis at the GF does sell hair products. It's easy to stop in there on a monorail trip as it's the second door on the left as you exit the monorail. Not sure about mousse though but the salon is operated by the same company as the spa so contact info is on that site.

Hi!
There are activities and I think Terry has a sample list at the front of the FAQ. But they do vary so it's probably best not to count on anything but check your newsletter when you check in. There are typically activities in the lobby of the GCH in the afternoon, activities at the Volcano pool. The last I knew the Neverland Club was open for families to drop by in the afternoon but haven't seen much about that lately.

Our DD is also in a wheelchair and grew up vacationing at the Polynesian. You will love it! The monorail is so easy but the big ferry at the TTC is another great option when using a wheelchair.

Have fun and happy planning!:surfweb:

Thanks for the information!

I am just so excited to go. We have been wanting to go for years, but never could work out schedules.

DD and DS really enjoy arts and crafts and activities, so thought this would be a good perk for them as well.

Do you have any thoughts on a longhouse with the wheelchair? I was looking at the map, and it seems like any would be fine.

Is your DS feeling better now?

Thanks for asking :) He has recovered pretty well from the mono, but we're dealing with other health-related problems with him now that will take a long time to resolve. :(

I'm so excited
We just used the buy4/3free deal and booked the Poly
This will be our first visit to Poly and we can't wait. We originally had a club level room at WL, but the deal couldn't be applied...so we went with the Poly! We've always said that we would go there if we ever got the chance! This thread has been very helpful already :cool1:

You will love the Polynesian Resort! :sunny: There is such a great group of people on this thread who are a wealth of information and who are more than willing to share their knowledge with us! :)

Aloha! Have a wonderful time! :sunny:

I always forget about the ferry right next door at the TTC becayse we love to take the launch and monorail. I'll have to try and remember to take a trip over to the MK via the ferry on our next trip! It's probably been about 25 years since I rode it! (That was the last time that I stayed off-site). LOL

Does the Polynesian sell any hair mousse?

Like MsStinkerBelle said, they might sell it up in Samoa Snacks. They might have a small size of it. I remember seeing a small variety of toiletries in a section near the cash registers.

Aloha, and welcome to the thread! :sunny: They will give you a sheet full of activities when you check in. It'll list the activities according to day of the week, and also will list the times.

The Polynesian is perfect for when you want to head back to your resort for some down time. Between the awesome volcano pool area and the beautiful walkways and tiki torches at night, you still feel like you're on vacation, even while not in the parks.

I've had to use a wheelchair while at WDW, and I agree that the Polynesian is an excellent resort choice. Not only do you have the monorail and ferry (not resort launch) options to go to the Magic Kingdom, but the monorail to Epcot is just a short pathway away! :)

Thanks for the information!

Do you need an accessible room? If so, then you'll need to call Disney and ask to speak to someone in the (yikes, can't remember the name of the department! :confused3 LOL)... anyway, there's a special guest assistance department that can help you with any special room requests.

If you don't need an accessible room, then maybe just request a ground floor room, because that would save you from having to go up and down the elevator each time you leave and come back to your room.

Do the rooms already have fridges or do I need to request one?

Did I see somewhere in this thread a hair wrapping station? Is that something that they offer all the time? My DD would love that! Anyone know what it costs?

Excellent thank you!! It's for my mother, so I just wanted to check.

February will be my first time at Polynesian, but far from my first time at WDW. I have a Poly bus question for y'all.

I have a MK view room and am requesting a room in Tahiti. IF I get that request, I know I'll be relatively close to the TTC. So my question is, when we want to go by bus to Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios, will we be better off getting a bus at Poly itself or walking to the TTC and catching an AK or DHS bus there?

The only time I caught an AK bus at the TTC (we were coming from MK), it seemed like a pretty long wait. Do you think the park buses at TTC run less often than at the resorts?
