In 8 days I will be staying at the Poly which will be our first Deluxe stay ever!

I am so excited!!!!! I am happy to be staying there, but I already warned my family that if we are upgraded in anyway or if we have a view of the castle I will definitely cry. I got a big eye roll on that comment!

We request Tokeleu or Rarotonga, but I could be in the closet and still be happy.

I hear ya sista!! I have no idea how I am going to wait til next October!

Good luck and here's hoping you get a little pixie dust:wizard:

Now, I've never stayed at Poly, but I did just have an experience there.

My fiance proposed to me on the beach last Thursday. :bride: He did it right before the fireworks started at the water's edge.

We watched the fireworks and they were still very amazing. In fact, the fact that the castle is small made it even more shocking of how HUGE some of those chandelier ones are. WOW!

You can't really hear the music, at least from where we were sitting. We were in front of the Hawaii building.

Congratulations!!!:yay: I was sitting on our patio of the Hawaii building watching the fireworks at the same time!

Congrats!!
It is a very romantic place.

We came back last night from our week stay. My dd6 and I came down with Strep the day before we left so I was a little worried to say the least. It all worked out:thumbsup2
When we arrived we were told us we couldn't stay in Samoa as we requested because we paid for MK view. I said we didn't and then said I shouldn't have said that. The cast member member said she has it down we paid for MK view so we get it. Somehow we got upgraded to Tuvalu with a MK view. It was farther out but a great view!:wizard: We had a nice stay. My dd8 and my dh had a ball on the little motar boats one day. Any questions about the stay let me know.

Good question! I was under the assumption that you could not make reservations for the Sea Raycers. I hope I'm wrong! Although it wouldn't make much of a difference at this point anyway since we leave in 5 days....

:surfweb: I don't think you can make reservations for the Sea Racers (formerly named Water mice). But I've rented them many times and there were always some available with no waiting.
They are a lot of fun! :cool1:
One suggestion though...they go pretty fast :car: (I'm thinking about 20 mph....could be wrong about that), but they slow down significantly with more than one person in them. If you can get a boat for each person, that's much more fun. But if you just want to cruise romantically  with your sweetheart, there is just enough room to cuddle. Although, the cruise will not be a racing one. You'll see them all around 7 seas lagoon :beach: and once seen, I promise you will want one too :hyper2:

What a beautiful way to get engaged!! :goodvibes Congradulations! :flower3:

I was outside at the same time too.

Well, we got email 2 pin codes last week and our May 2009 trip is now Dec 2008!!!! I am so excited that I cannot quit smiling. We were so lucky and still got the MK view. We will be at the Poly Dec 13-20 and going to MVMCP on the 16th. I requested Tahiti, 3rd floor. We are NOT telling our triplets and will try to totally surprise them. I got approval from my new job (NICU RN) last night for the time off, so we are good to go! Now I've go to scramble and try to plan some dining. This is going to be so much fun!

That is very exciting, Denise! I know you didn't think you would be back to WDW for quite a while due to your new job. :goodvibes

Does anyone know the price of renting? They sound like fine and might be something my sons and hubby will enjoy!!

I'll see you there! I'll be the Mom being dragged around by 4 kids at once (DH is staying home for this vacation)!

The only request I made was for a balcony - I'm leaving the rest up to the Tiki Gods!

Thank you JRDMAN, Shell54, BCV23, and lovemy2boys for the help. I read on another site that you needed to prebook them, glad thats not true! This should be a fun addition to our "pool day". And to be honest I'm glad the Sea Raycers won't go so fast with both my teens - but don't tell them :rotfl:

We arrive at the Poly in 10 days!! Can you tell I'm slightly excited??
We actually arrive at CSR in 9 days but day one is extra and we plan on relaxing and swimming that day. Then that night we will probably go to Downtown Disney to get a jumpstart on the shopping. :rolleyes1
My questions are, what is the typical price of a nice Polynesian t-shirt for the three of us? We will have our DD (7), my DH and myself. I like to have a shirt from our resort. Also, what is the current cost of the the refillable mugs? One more thing - key chains? Are there special Polynesian keychains as well? I am just getting an idea on the price of our must-haves.
I am also looking for ideas for my DD's 2nd grade classmates. There are around 20 of them. I don't want to spend a lot but I wanted to be able to take a little something back for them.

Granted we're not staying at the Poly this time, in a few hours DD8 and I will be dining at Captain Cooks for lunch. I'll try to get some detailed pictures of the items for sale, the menu and my personal favorite, the "stuff every cranny" Dole Whip. :lmao:

We're also having dinner at Kona so I'll post a review of that and some photos of the grounds as well. :thumbsup2

MsStinkerBelle, when you walk into the GCH, can you breathe a big sigh for all of us?:goodvibes

Have fun at WDW!:cool1:

Hi there,
Can't wait! It can't come fast enough!

I have a question, we have booked a lagoon view room. Not club level though. Are there longhouses with lagoon view rooms that you can see the fireworks from? If so, what location should I request for this?
Thanks,

This thread is awesome! Getting me more pumped everyday for our trip!

I'd like to see the menu! Thank you!

Enjoy! A day at the Poly is better than no days st the poly!

Was wondering if the parks are empty due to Kay? I heard a rumor that Disney was offering huge discounts to rooms this week due to cancellations:confused3

:surfweb: You will find a number of Poly t-shirts available at Boutiki in the GCH and I'm sure there are also a lot of different keychains also available at one of the Poly stores. I'm sorry that I'm not sure of prices, but I have seen photos of t-shirts and prices posted on this thread.
I have a possible no cost suggestion for the 20 classmates. Again, I'm not sure where I read it. But, there are a number of places such as the town hall in MK where CMs give out free:woohoo: stickers to the children. I suggest asking a CM at Poly and CMs in MK on main street. Again, I know they are available, but my memory is soo full of all the wonderful suggestions I've found here, that exact details are escaping me at the moment. I think disney character stickers might work out fine for 2nd graders and the price (free:cool1: ) can't be beat.

 Here's another thought. I know that trading pins can be expensive for 20 people. But...you might try stopping at one of the pin kiosks (there is one at each park) you might be able to strike a deal there for a discontinued item. Pin collectors and traders are always to be found at the pin kiosks and it's possible to get a good deal from one of them.
Good luck and have a wonderful time!
Once you go Poly, there is no other place. That's just my opinion of course. But I value my opinion above all others...just ask my kids! :rotfl:

:surfweb: I found the pages I wanted to refer you to:banana:
Poly t-shirts are $24.95 and photos os them can be found on page 201 of this thread. Also check out the photos on page 202. Or is it page 202 and 203? OMG, it's tough getting old!:confused3 :lmao:
OK, you can't go wrong if you check out pages 201 thru 203.
Have a wonderful vacation and know that I'm sooo jealous.

To you WDW veterans, what are the crowds like the first week of Sept?
From what I've been reading, this should be one of the slower times of the year. Is this correct? And still quite hot?
