Is there a small store to pick up a half gallon of milk at the Poly?

Is there a link to what the store has to offer anywhere?

If not at Poly, I think the CR has a store that sells that. I believe its called Sundries, but its on the 4th floor. Probably easier to get to than WL too

There's not much to offer at Samoa snacks except for single size servings. But there's a store at the Wilderness lodge that sells a lot grocery type items for the guests who have kitchens in their WL DVC villas. On my last tour of the lodge, I saw 1/2 gallon milk, bread, basically anything you wanted food wise and it's only a bus or boat ride away from the Poly. I'm sure it's more expensive than a regular grocery store, but it is an option to keep in mind. I myself used Gardengrocer.com and had it delivered. They kept everything cold and I had no issues with them.

Does the fridge hold a 1/2 gallon of milk?

If you turn it on it's side it will. On my last trip I had put my favorite coffee creamer in there along with a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk for my son, so it will fit. Heck, I had all kinds of stuff in there and you just have to be creative.;) I found out one thing the hard way though and I would like to share a tip to everyone here.

At the Poly they have decorative wooden doors on the cabinet that holds the refrigerator and if you turn down the fridge's temp it naturally causes the fridge to work harder and produce more heat inside that cabinet. I found things weren't getting cold at all and I talked to staff at the front desk about it. One CM told me off the record that they know it's a problem and it will be fixed in the next room redesign. She said the best thing to do was leave the cabinet doors open so the fridge could breathe properly. I always left them open and the fridge worked great from then on.

Which building were you in?

Samoa Snacks should have it...(Housewares, sodas, liquor, wine, beer, snacks). I don't know if it would be a half gallon... may be smaller... and may NEED to be smaller to fit into the room fridges... I'm not sure about the size of the fridges, I haven't been since they have included those in the rooms.

I just spoke with a lady at the poly and she said the dimensions of the fridge are 18h x 25w x 22d and that you could get "maybe" :confused3 two half gallons of milk in there :sad2:

I was thinking that they were going to be bigger

I was in the Hawaii building on my last trip. I had a garden view room on the first floor and I think it was room 1522, if that helps. It was one of our best trips ever and the memories of it will always be with me. I'm looking for pictures as we speak.

Another fridge question- does it have a small freezer at the top? I'd like to freeze ice packs.
BTW- I love this thread. It is getting me so excited about our stay. I tried to use the code today. I could have saved 1000 by switching to BC or YC, but just can't see not staying at the Poly after reading this thread almost daily. Thanks for all the info!

Quick parking question...I know we have to enter the Poly through the MK Parking tolls to check in , so do we just present our reservation confim at the booth to bypass the parking fee?

I remember it having a small freezer at the top and here's the picture I found on Allears.net. I left both the doors open as I was recommended to do and the fridge worked fine and experienced no more overheating problems.

I don't think they have the selection food wise, that the store in the Wilderness lodge does. I'm not saying this to be argumentative, but to be helpful. I just don't remember the CR having that big of a selection and is more geared toward single servings. I may be incorrect, but I want everyone to have the most info possible.

When I was at the WL resort last summer waiting for dinner, I went walking around and was wondering why that one store was carrying big food items. They had pounds of bacon,1/2 gallon milks, juices, lunch meat, frozen dinners, etc. It looks like they cater to the Wilderness campground guests and the WL Villa guests who have kitchens in their rooms. I just pointing it out in case someone wants more than just a single serving of whatever beverage they need in their room. Not everyone has a car or wants to spend the money to use garden grocer which I believe has a minimum amount you need to spend.

For anyone curious about the refrigerators, there is a thread titled "Fridge@the Poly" started on 08/07/08 that has a pic of a fridge holding 4 1/2 gals of milk.

Sorry, I'm not good at posting links, but if you search the forum you can see the pic. I'll try to find it and bump it up for everyone to see.

When I drove on my first visit to the Poly in 2002, I was told on these very same boards, to get in farthest right lane when approaching the toll booths. I told the attendant that I had a reservation at the Polynesian and he barley paused, told to keep staying to right, keep going straight, and watch for the signs. He then waved me straight through. It's that easy and no toll was even mentioned. I hope that helps.

Do you have any pictures of your view from Room 1527?

I just checked my account of Shutterfly and it appears I have a few. I made a mistake though on the room number, it was 1522, not 1527, my bad, and let me see if I can get it to show up here.

Here's a beautiful gift my wife and I received for our 10th anniversary. The front desk staff at the Hawaii building along with a DIS'er who was at the fest last year, gave us this lovely gift.

There are other photos of the room, but they're all the same, so I didn't see the point of wasting the bandwidth.

FWIW -- The resorts that have DVC properties attached to them have a bigger and better selections of foodstuffs in their sundries area of the gift shops.

I like the gift for your 10th Anniversary. DH and I stayed at Poly. last Oct. for our 10th and all we got was jackhammer noise outside our room:headache: . I like flowers and champange:rotfl2:
