All I can say is ahhhhhhh. . .

How was the Wave? It looked interesting when we checked it out in June--thought about hitting it next May.

I know Tess! For people like you and BCV23, who have SO many Polynesian CL trips under your belts, photos like mine must really remind you of "home" :cloud9: It is amazing. I really don't need to leave the building! :cool1:

The Wave was good. VERY friendly staff, from the people who greet you to the chef who was at the podium when we arrived at 11am and encouraged us to wait around 'til they started serving lunch at 12 (we checked out the lobby, new Fantasia shop in the Concourse, and I took those new construction photos). I liked our server a lot too.
My daughter had a cheeseburger (whole grain bun I had to coax her into trying  ) and I had the special - a marinated, grilled chicken salad with goat cheese, herbs and garlic spread. Both served with potato wedges (we could've had slaw instead). It was yummy and half of it is sitting in the fridge right now! Here's a (blurry) pic:

The restaurant is good looking - very lounge-y. Felt like I was in a nice hotel in Las Vegas or Atlantic City :rolleyes1 Looked great though. I also had a (big!) glass of pinot gris that I enjoyed. I want to go back and have breakfast at Wave :thumbsup2

:wave2:

I'm totally enjoying Johnsonet's live report! Thanks for taking the time out of your vacation to let us live vicariously through you.

Does anyone know....at Captain Cooks, when you get milk or Juice, etc...does it come in a cup (from a fountain machine thing) or does it come bottled so you can take it and drink it later? Reason I ask is b/c if my little girl has a refillable mug (which I understand Apple Juice is included for the refillable mugs???) then she would not immediately need the juice and/or milk that would come with her meal....so I'm wondering if it can be saved for later...kept in the fridge in the room?

Anyone know what time Wishes starts in early Dec? What about Spectromagic parade? (Is that the one that replaced mainstreet electrical parade?) Can you see the parade at MK and then make it back to Poly for fireworks??

THANKS!

Ah,.....:cloud9: Loving your pictures. They make me sigh just as we always do when we enter the GCH.

Tess, you took the words out of my mouth. I was going to ask about the Wave but you did and johnsonet answered already! Would you order the sandwich again?

That is amazing that the hub was that empty, johnsonet. Have fun today.

And Aloha!

Picabo, juices (other than the apple juice in the machine) and milk are served in individual containers so you could take hers back to the room for later.

Thank you :cutie:

I've not used the refillable mugs in a while but when I have, neither apple juice nor milk were included. Those items are both sold separately in separate containers. NOT from a machine into a cup.

Thank you for your pictures and live report!
We'll be at the Poly next month.
You got me thinking of Wave. Did you make an ADR for it?

Thank you BCV23  I just answered the apple juice/milk ?? at the same time as you, too ;)

Yes, I would order the sandwich again. Our meal was good. They had a some-sort-of-encrusted chicken salad that I would like to try, too. And I like how they have trios of desserts - so you can sample small bites of different things without ordering more than one dessert. We didn't have room for dessert but I hope to try them next time.

I'm enjoying some computer time while I let DD sleep in :surfweb: I woke her up early yesterday and am trying to alternate with the drill sergeant routine ;) since we ARE on vacation :rotfl:

Hi MUFFYCAT :)

No, I did not have an ADR. We arived at 11am and I just went to the podium and they put me down. I definitely RECOMMEND having a ADR for just about any Disney restaurant but in this case, it was spur-of-the-moment and I didn't want to call from the monorail, so we just went for it. My daughter wanted to check out the CR lobby and shops and it all worked out for us...

The restaurant was busy but definitely not full yesterday at noon/1pm.

LOL, I'm the drill sergeant in our family. :goodvibes I've been getting some resistance lately though. Then when we go to lunch, my DH says "why aren't we getting as much done before lunch as we always did before?":rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a reservation for dinner at the Wave for our next trip but maybe I'll change it to lunch. For the short time California Grill served lunch, it was fun to have a MK morning and then monorail to lunch before heading back to the Polynesian. Hmmm....got to rearrange some plans I think!:surfweb:

Picabo, I forgot the second half of your question. You can check out hours and showtimes here on the DIS:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm

The official WDW site lists them too. Just click on the little calendar icon. For parades and fireworks, click on an individual date....on the number itself.

OK so it IS true that (at least for now...) apple juice is in the machine and you can use the refillable mug for it? That is PERFECT that the milk comes in a container that can go to the room! The Rumor is that there's a new dining plan coming up with 2 CS/2snacks and a refillable resort mug. So I was thinking that if you had the mug and opted to have a CS bkfst at the resort...you don't get full USE of your mug. :confused3

Picabo, last I noticed apple juice was in the machine as well as available by individual bottle. But we're past that stage in life and it may have changed again. We haven't been there since May and I don't think I was even in CC that trip.

I hadn't seen that rumor. Is it on the DDP forum? It wouldn't be our cup of tea as we enjoy TS meals but it's fun to learn the latest...or at least the latest rumors.:goodvibes

BCV23 - under DIS Discussion Forums there is a place for "Disney Rumors" near the very bottom...lots of "interesting" things there. I may have also read something in the Disney Dining forum...if you can't find it let me know. I'm sure i have it saved somewhere! haha

From what I read, someone said that somewhere on a UK website for Disney World travel it shows that the regular dining plan will be about $10 higher next year. And this new, counter service only plan, will be about $26 I think. (But who knows if that is only offered to UK residents or what the true story is) However, new rates and plans will be out on Sunday, Aug 3rd so we'll all know the real story then. There was a thread somewhere by a CM who confirmed the CS plan but couldn't devuldge details, of course.

I honestly don't know what I'd do....I wish there were a 3meal a day plan! 2CS and 1TS. I don't even care if they have a snack in it or not. Don't most people eat 3x a day? haha

Has anyone gotten room service? I figured out that we have more dinning plan credits than what I initially thought. So I came up with the idea of using room service for our departure day breakfast. So if you got it, was it good and what's on the menu? Thanks

Allears has the room service menu listed I believe...

We tried room service last November and really enjoyed it. The staff was great, and so was the food. We had way too much food for the 2 of us (Tonga toast with jumbo sausages & the kids pancakes)....

About the dining plan for counter service, I read it was 2 CS meals, 2 snacks and a refillable mug. I read this on the CBR Pirate themed rooms thread this morning. In there there is a link to an Orlando Sentinal article about the new room themes which also discusses the new dining plan.

Just in case anyone wanted to read it...

Sorry, I dont know how to link to it, but it's on pg. 1 of the resorts board right now!

johnsonet,

Thanks for posting the beautiful photos! And thanks for sharing your trip online -- for those of us who have a really long wait, it brings WDW closer to us!

Hope you have a great trip!:)

OMG that tonga toast pix is making my MOUTH water! if you have the dining plan, is it just ONE TS credit or TWO?

Also...is the tonga toast SUPER banana tasting? I LIKE banana but do not LOVE it THAT much so I wonder if it's overpowering banana flavor? I'm sure my girls would LLOOOOOVE it!

Wanted to share that I met TigrLvsPooh and her husband in the CL lounge a little while ago :) They are so fun and friendly and just the cutest couple :lovestruc I really enjoyed chatting with them. (Have fun guys! :cool1: )

Also - Picabo there IS apple juice in the fountain machines in Captain Cook's :thumbsup2

Picabo, thanks for the info. I just saw the thread mmmears mentioned. Here's the link to the Orlando Sentinel embedded within it:
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/business_tourism_aviation/2008/07/pirates-of-the.html

I can see a plan like that appealing to people who want to maximize park time.

Room service is two credits on the DDP and deluxe. But you can order Tonga Toast for one credit at Kona Cafe or a QS credit at Captain Cooks. No pancakes at CC though.

Edited to add that I saw johnsonet gave you the word on apple juice.:thumbsup2

How fun to meet another DISser!:surfweb:
