What a great thread! I'm just DYING to stay at THE POLY! Sadly I just can't see having the time/money in the near future.

Are there any secrets to getting deals at the Poly? Any times better than others that could be feasible w/school age kids?

We got a Disney Visa code for last Oct and saved 1000.00 off of our 9 day trip. What a deal.

The last week of October is a great time to go IMOP. Lower crowds, nicer temps...

The Poly was worth every penny that my DH worked overtime to get.

Wow! That was a great code. That was just a regular code released to the public, not a PIN right? Do you mind me asking what type of room you had? We are staying 9 nights the last week of October and would love a code like that.

I might! It will be our first time in WDW. We are very excited about the Poly....it sounds wonderful.

We got a 40% off code last Nov - when I called to check, they said that there was a pin code connected to my name. I think it was around $230/night for 5 of us. That was our first stay in a deluxe, esp a monorail resort. I honestly don't know if I can go back to others now - just for the convenience alone. I'm typically a cheap hotel person - just need a clean place to sleep & shower. But, we did find ourselves using more at the resort - surrey bike, pool (1st time we went swimming in Disney). It was nice to watch the fireworks on the beach & then jump into bed one night without having to travel back to the hotel. It was also nice one night to come back from AK, then have enough time to hop to MK before their 8pm closing - without having to waste time for buses to show up. I really did get spoiled w/ that trip!! So, now I'm using the disney visa for everything to save up the rewards & also doing a rewards survey/shopping site to get disney gift cards - I figured that the money I'm earning there will justify me going back to the Poly one day

My hubby is in the travel industry and as you porb. know there are only so many rooms put aside for us at a discount. I have been calling everyday to get into the Poly (where we really want to be) and am having no luck. Any suggestions? Other than paying full price?
P.S. We are going during Columbus weekend which I know is a very busy time.

You might check into the AAA discounts or check the boards and keep calling and hope for a cancelation. But there is nothing wrong with CR. You will have a great time there too. Sorry to take away from the "Polyness" here, but check out the CR thread, lots of info there. But keep checking for your cancelation, I'm sure you will eventually find one.

We will be staying at the Poly from 8/24 - 8/31. We are coming there from a 3 day stay at POR (8/21-8/24). Does our whole party have to be present when we check in at the Poly? Didn't want to have to wake the kids up extra early unless I have to.

We're using our 40% at YC in December, and I'm already missing the Poly!!

As far as checking in, it doesn't even have to be the person the reservation is under as long as the person checking in is on the reservation (and a grown-up ). My grandparents drove, and I flew with my mom, DS and DNiece. They got there first and were able to check in and were waiting for us in the room.

Exactly... but honestly i really don't think you can go wrong anywhere on the monorail (but Poly and CR are better than GF, at least in my opinion)

Not to worry, the pin codes - which are personal to you - come by mail or email, a Disney Visa code - for all Disney Visa customers - usually also comes by email, but sometimes I have seen them in the little newsletter thingys they mail you. Don't remember ever seeing such a thing on the statements.

Hi - I checked these boards daily 3 times a day beginning August 1st and I was on the Codes thread for whose going in October watch. Someone posted as soon as they found it with all of the info needed which made it easy for me to call my TA in a matter of minutes. I loooove these boards! People are so thoughful of one another. That 1000.00 was a shocker. I was screaming at the pool while on the phone with my TA.
