Hi everyone
Just wanted to introduce myself.
We have our first Poly stay this month and I have to thank everyone here for providing such great info.
I'm done with my lurking and can't wait to experience the Poly and share with everyone!

We always love to get a newbie's view of the Polynesian! They are usually very enthusiastic reports and detailed too! If you are not as enamored as the rest of us, that's okay too--we politely accept all opinions!

Have a wonderful visit and we will look forward to hearing your thoughts. :yay:

Welcome to the Polynesian thread! We'll look forward to your report.:thumbsup2

Here's another couple of observations on the Poly while we are currently here:
1. Haven't seen anywhere near as many ducks at the Poly as usual. Don't really have a feeling on this one way or the other. Just wonder where they are.
2. I've noticed that the GCH gets pretty congested on nights when they have the Spirit of Aloha show. That along with the popularity of 'Ohana and Kona can really create quite a bottle neck in the GCH. Too bad there couldn't be a seperate area for the Luau people to congregate. Must say a large number of the attendees of the Luau really get into the spirit of things: lots of nice Hawaiian shirts and dresses! We have not attended the SofA show in years. Never really cared for the food there.
3. Don't think we are going to make to Kona this time. My wife is not an adventurous eater at all and considers the food there "exotic". Don't ask!
Tomorrow is our last day here and it feels like we just checked in! Time really flies here.:goodvibes

I'm sad for you. :guilty: Don't you hate the last day?!? Enjoyed reading your updates. Tempted to switch to the Poly in December...

huntconn add me to the list of folks who have loved your updates. I'll be staying at the Poly for the first time in Sept. and reports like yours really make me realize I've made the right choice. My DB was pushing me to stay at AKL or BC which are his faves (he goes every year)..but the Poly has been my dream since I first visited WDW in the 80's and stayed at the Disney Inn. Thanks for the live updates:)

Thanks huntconn for your live reports I am going to miss them:sad1:. You did a great job enjoy the rest of your stay:yay: . Again Thanks its been fun:flower3: .

:rotfl: :rotfl: You're funny. Well, I suggest drugging her and forcing her to go to Kona for dinner. Tell her you have to do some research for some DISers on the Kona salad, pot stickers and Macadamia mahi  Plus they have a really nice South African white wine there now :thumbsup2
(the drugging part was a joke ;) )

Hi.
I was wondering if someone could tell me how much the "specialty" boats are to rent at the polynesian.
Thanks.

Ha-Well, the good news is we will be having breakfast at Kona tomorrow morning. My DW made an ADR with the club desk a little while ago. Kona dinner will have to wait. As we always say each year when we realize we were unable to do something at WDW, "It'll have to wait until we get back here!" Gives us something extra to look forward to. :)

What a great thread! I'm just DYING to stay at THE POLY! Sadly I just can't see having the time/money in the near future. :sad1:

Are there any secrets to getting deals at the Poly? Any times better than others that could be feasible w/school age kids?

Well, for a start, Value Season is cheaper than other times of year. We're both teachers, so the fact that summer is Value Season works out nicely for us.

Then I started off with the AAA discount. During summer, it's 15% off the price of your accomodations. That saved me a few hundred dollars.

Then I was just plain lucky and received a 40% pin. No secret there-- just incredible dumb luck!

huntconn, safe and easy travels home. Thanks for all the live updates. It's been fun to read them every day.

So who's going next and will take over the job of "live from the Polynesian?":goodvibes
