I have to put in a vote for Tokelau. The location is still close to everything and it has very large rooms with balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors, plus some of the rooms you can see the castle from the balcony. I requested and got Somoa last year then saw my sister's room in Tokelau and wished I had gotten her room. Next time I will request Tokelau pool side for sure.

That's good to know. I've been trying to decide on a room request and I think I just decided. I had it narrowed down to Tokelau,Tahiti or Fiji. From what I've been reading on this thread, any Poly room is pretty good. :goodvibes

So...we leave in four days. Yea!!

We'll have a car (grandparents leave Sunday to meet us on Tuesday when we fly in), so do you suggest driving to AK and HS? What about Epcot? Other resorts? When should we use Disney transportation and when should we drive ourselves?

My opinion is use WDW Transportation when going to the parks, however when going to Downtown Disney use your own transportation. As for visiting other Resorts I say driving would be faster, although since your staying at the Polynesian it's easy to take the Monorail or boat to the Magic Kingdom to get on a bus to another WDW Resort.

HAVE AN AWESOME TRIP!!!!

Use your car for HS and AK. We just came back and the buses were REALLY slow this trip. For MK, take the boat from Poly or the monorail....both are short trips. For Epcot, take a short walk to TTC and take just one monorail to Epcot. You can also catch the monorail at Poly and transfer to another one at TTC. I hope your trip is as magical as ours was. Have fun!

Okay, so all of you who vote for Tokelau, you must forgive me, but when I call to request, how do I pronounce it?? :confused3 I know, dork, but I really don't know! Also, I've heard people talk about room size, and are they really bigger? I can't remember the size of our room in '05, but at the BC last Fall, the room seemed a tad tight. Is it bigger than that?

Thanks! :goodvibes

See if this helps-

Tow-ka-low maybe?

If you go to that forbidden site- T#I#K#I#M#A#N (take out the #'s)- google it and polynesian- he pronounces each longhouse!

I second this. Especially with the kids, if you have a car definitely use it for DHS and AK. I remember being at AK and having to wait for a Poly bus telling myself I could have driven back faster.

Has anyone had a cake from the Poly Bakery? I am thinking of getting one for my husband for Fathers Day at either Kona for dinner, or Ohanas breakfast Fathers day AM. Will a cake box fit in the refrigator?

Ok we are going for our 1 year anniverary and I had asked earlier about room requests. I'm still a little confused - our rooms are garden view - can we only request the best biuldings that are garden view or can we request other buildings that are more expensive than garden view? If you request a higher more expensive room if they give it to you - do you have to pay more for it or is it like a freebie? Thanks in advance! :yay:

I think you can request any Longhouse with a Garden View, expect Hawaii because they have Club Level rooms and Tonga which has the various suites.

Can you request a lagoon view without paying extra if you get it?
You need to make a reservation for a Lagoon View. The only way you could get it without paying extra is if they gave you a free upgrade to that view when you check-in, although you should not go there thinking that will happen because chances are it won't. So my advice if want a Lagoon View then try to make a reservation for it before you arrive at WDW this way you won't be dissapointed.

Also are there microwaves in the rooms and can you request them if they are not in there?
There are no microwaves in the rooms, however I believe you can request one. If they still can't get one for you they have one at Captin Cook's which you can use anytime during your stay.

I agree any room at The Poly is good but I think Tahiti is kind of far from the GCH for me. I like Tokelau because of how close it is to the quiet pool. We use the quiet pool alot when we are there. I can't speak about Figi as I have never stayed there but the location looks very good. I can say I liked Raratonga.

Hi everyone! :wave2:

Wow, what a week! I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed, and I have a lot to say, and I don't know where to start! LOL

First of all, I want you all to know that I've risked life and limb to bring back some "info" to add to this FAQ thread. :lmao: I took the "Bounce Back Offer" flier, I took the room service menu  , I took the valet (laundry) service forms which list all of the prices for laundry and dry cleaning, I have the latest "Island Palm Press", I have the "May Recreational Activities" sheet that lists on a daily basis all of the extra activities around the resort and the times they occur, I have a letter they left in our room to warn about when they'd be testing the fire alarms, I have the "Phone Safety Tips" sheet which tells you to NEVER give out info over the phone to anyone claiming to be a CM UNLESS you were the person to initiate the call, and lastly, I have the room service breakfast door hanger that you fill out and leave on your door the night before. WHEW! Oh wait! I also brought home the coffee condiments packet that is near the coffee machine in the room because a lot of people ask what is included with the coffee! I'll open it up later and report. LOL

Secondly, I am blown away by all of the people who recognised me and came up to me!! :grouphug: My aunt now thinks that I am some sort of celebrity at the Polynesian!! :lmao: :lmao: I met "Cara loves the Poly" and her beautiful DD; I met "WoodysRoundUp", I met "luvsmarrypoppins", I met someone who's user name I forget (sorry I can't remember! You were the person who said you had your room changed to a better view!!), and I also met someone who recognised us while we were having breakfast at Kona Cafe on Thursday morning! She said that she doesn't post here but reads here, and a funny thing is, she said that her DH's legs are in the picture of my DH and I from our last trip where we're holding the Lapu Lapus! I just looked at that picture and I do see someone's torso and legs, who is standing behind a tree in the left side of the picture. That must be him! I was sorry that I didn't see BCV while we were there, but hopefully on another trip! (BCV, did you happen to be in room 1529 by any chance?? lol)

Anyway, it was GREAT to meet you all and I really wish we had time to chat more! This was a very busy trip for DH and I since we had our aunt with us and we did a lot more on this trip than on previous trips, since we wanted to make sure that she got to experience all of the highlights of all of the parks.

Thirdly, we got UPGRADED to concierge!!!!!!! :yay: :woohoo:  :cool2: When we were checking in, the CM said something about "the Hawaii building...." but she was looking down towards her computer monitor, so I said "Excuse me, did you just say Hawaii building? Is that where our room is? Is it just 1 of our rooms, or both???" And she said "BOTH rooms are in the Hawaii building..." I wanted to SCREAM but instead I started to punch my poor DH in the arm!! :lmao: I did say "oh my goodness! Thank you so much!!" and then I explained to our aunt that we were being upgraded to the concierge building!

A CM took us and our luggage on a golfcart to the Hawaii building, and as we were about to walk in, a CM named David whom we met last year came out to greet us! THAT IS WHEN I SCREAMED!!!! :yay: I was SO Happy to see him and I think I hugged him a little too tightly, and a little too long, but I was SO excited!!! I also got to see another wonderful CM named Allison  I got to chat with David and Allison a couple of more times on this trip and I was so glad to have the opportunity to do so :chat: They are both so friendly and helpful. Also, there's a CM in the Hawaii building named Brian who was also very, very professional and friendly during a room mis-hap, which I'll explain later.

Anyway, we're back, it was an excellent trip to both the resort AND the parks, and I'll be back later with more info! :sunny:

WELCOME HOME SeaSpray

So glad you had a great trip. Can't wait to hear all about it. How nice of you to bring back so many items to help others plan their trips.
We are headed to POLY CL this summer and SO excited!!

Terry, It was really nice to meet you, even though it was very briefly. My dh always thinks Dis'ers really dont exist until he meets one. I too will write a little report and guess what, we were upgraded to conceirge when we went to the Yacht Club too. after leaving the Polynesian. We had a wheelbarrow full of pixie dusting!!

You realize, Terry, that you're not allowed to rest because I need all of the dirty details before we leave Tuesday morning!! Haha!! Kidding!

Glad you had a great time and got some of that great Disney magic. Can't wait to hear more!!
