After a 2-year absence from these Boards, it's great to be back...especially with the prospect of our first stay at WL in early August (35th anniversary celebration)

So, since I know a bunch of WL-savvy folks will read this post:

What are your thoughts on Standard Room locations? I've read a bunch of posts elsewhere, and my current impression is that all of the Standard Rooms are really quite fine if you won't spend gobs of time in your room (which we won't). I do have a few unanswered questions, though:

-I guess all the Standard rooms are on 4th, 5th, and 6th floors, with most facing north in the north wing closest to the Lobby. Do you think it's worth it to request the highest floor possible (further above the service parking area below, chance to see Contemporary or even MK)? Also, exactly what's the difference in the balconies on the top floor?

-People seem to be split on the entrance-facing Standard Rooms...some don't like the roof views, others like the Lobby view outside your door and the overall convenience. What do you think? Any issues that I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance, WL-lovers.

Ronald,
Last summer I requested just what you are asking, a standard room on the North side as high as possible. We had room 6060 and a clear shot of the castle from our balcony. Every night we would watch the fireworks from the balcony or even from bed.

Laura,
In Majestic's signature under his photo there is a line that says:Who's going when YOU are going? CLICK HERE to find out! Just click on the link and you can find out who will be at WDW the same time as you. Actually you have signed up your dates there I was just counting how many DIS'ers would be there and saw your trip posted...if you would like to meet some people you could PM them and try and pick a date and location...It is great fun. Tim I went to the 6th floor last week and the smoking rooms start right by the elevator that comes up near Roaring Fork North side of the Lodge room #'s are Woods View: 6034,6032,6030,6028,6026,6024,6020,6022,6020,6018,6016,6014,6012,6010,6008,6006, & 6004 Courtyard View: 6031,6029,6027,6015,6023,6021,6019,6017,6015,6013,6011,6009,6007, & 6005 there are no Jr. Suits on the sixth floor.
When we rode the elevator up from the first floor at Roaring Fork you could smell just a little of the smoke when you got off the elevator...after you walked around the corner back to the main building and lobby you couldn't smell it at all...so your room 6060 is still safe no-smoking and freash air.

Hope this helps.

After looking at your pictures I think I may have a problem if I tell DS he won't be visiting the cub's den. ;) What an inviting space!

Help please!!!!

I leave for WL on Thursday. I have a standard view room reserved but would be so pleased if I were able to get one of the standards that open to the lobby. View is not a factor because i believe the standards view is of service area. I wouldnt mind a view of the resort entrance either but again, my big wish is for a lobby room.

Can anyone give me the approx room number range that may open to the lobby?

I did have it notated on my res. Would it also be improper to request upgrades if I cant get a lobby view, at my expense of course?

I thank you kindly in advance. I can hardly contain my excitement!!!!

If you requested it on your reservations, I'm sure they will try and honor it. If for some reason none of the Lobby rooms are available you may request a upgrade (hopefully at no additional cost) it will depend on how busy the lodge is and what rooms will be available. Here's hoping you receive all your request. (I really am not sure of exact # of rooms that open to the Lobby that would be listed as standard view it could be as few as six per floor and only the 3rd 4th 5th & 6th floor have rooms over the lobby) 7th floor is Concierge and only the Deluxe Rooms (honeymoon suites) are off the lobby there.

MILEMRKR63-

Have a wonderful time at WL...we'll be staying there for the first time in exactly 2 months so I'll eagerly read your post-trip posts.

I'm especially interested in your experiences with your room, since I'm still on the fence about location---Standard room on the lobby, or Standard room facing the MK? Good luck getting what you want.

ALL:

Does anybody know where I can find a WL map that includes room numbers on it? It seems strange to me that WL is one of the only Disney resorts (maybe THE only resort?) where the map provided doesn't have any room locations or numbers. I know that elsewhere in the FAQ there is info on the general numbering scheme and locations...but I really want to SEE where the rooms are. Any ideas on where to look?

Does anyone know if the changes to concierge that Mark Newman spoke of will be done before Thanksgiving? It sounds like some great changes that will make a lot of guest happy.

MILEMRKR63 -
We leave Saturday for a 4 night stay! I can't wait either....and I am hoping there will be lots of rooms available so we can get a good view too. We have a Woods view booked.
What changes were made to concierge? The last time we were there we upgraded to concierge and loved it.

I am pretty certain this does not exsist. We were not given this type of map at checkin, only a map without room numbers.

Thanks for the info, however, I have a woodsview this time so I am at their mercy but I know they will do me right.

The "changes" discussed were not really changes. They were "plans" for "changes" to be made in the future. As of right now, there are no concrete plans that have been approved by senior management at Disney for the proposed concierge modifications.

Hope this helps.

Mark Newman is pushing very hard to get these proposed changes to happen. I look forward to them as well. :)

On a side note, not sure if everyone knows this or not but during my last trip down, I was told that WL has a new GM. Dan Cockerel was moved to one of the All Stars. (Not sure which one...) You can see who the new GM is as he was the one that Beckie mentioned for the 10 year celebration.

I noticed on the fire escape plan has the room layout on it and I meant to get a copy to post...next time I will remember!!

Hello all!

I just now called CRO back to adjust my ressies. I had originally wanted to book a standard room, but none was available at the time I first booked--so I booked a Woods View and requested king, lobby.

Well, I spoke to a very cheery and sweet CM, Shania Shaye, and she changed my ressies to standard room, king bed, lobby. I didn't have any wait at all while on the phone.

Thanks again for all the great advice you WL Vets shared with me!
See you later!

Hi everyone!

Your thread is full with wonderful information -- thanks to all of you. We are heading to WDW in two weeks -- this will be our first stay at WL, as we usually stay at the Poly, but have outgrown one room and two will be pushing the budget. So, we just switched over to two courtyard rooms at the WL as of yesterday.

Anyway ... my question is, is the Territory Lounge appropriate to take children (6,10,11,14)? I see that they have potato skins and wings, both a favorite of my children, but I wasn't sure if they would be permitted in this area, since it was designated a "lounge".

Thanks for your help!

This is my first time staying onsite. I will be at the WL and have heard about the resort media being the door key? Is this true? What exactly is this, a plastic card like other hotels? I will be getting an AP before I arrive for the $85 savings and assume this will be another card? Are there other things that I will have to keep up with? My family will have park hopper passes, can those be magnetically added to their room keys?

Thanks.
