Thanks Mrslane for all the fun info. And thanks for sharing.

We were at WCC just last weekend after the DIS meet at the WL and it was just crazy. We sat down for dinner around 5:30pm. That was the most fun I have had there yet. Good group of CM's. I laughed until my stomach hurt. It was the first time I ever saw someone receive the "bucket" of soda because he was soooo thirsty. The best part of it all was that the CM's got the customer's to participate in everything they did. So much fun. I love it. :D

hi, after a small windfall we have been able to book wl, very excited as this will be our first time staying on property, i hope that you dont mind but we have a couple of questions, i am sorry in advance if these have been asked before but there are so many pages to read just read the basics, we have booked a woods view, do any of these rooms have bunk beds, also do you have to make a ps for breakfast every time you want breakfast ( sorry if that a stupid question) only the resturants have ps recommended next to them, can you just turn up in the mornings!!, once again sorry if these questions have been asked before but we have no idea what to expect, we are going the 5th dec till 22 dec 04 thanks in advance for any help, susie2

 Welcome Susie!!

This is a great thread! The first few pages have most of the 'meaty stuff about the WL so you can focus your attention there.

I stayed at the WL last October and with some luck and pixie dust- I'll be there again the same time you are in Dec- just shorter- from Dec 9-13.

We were in a Woodsview in October and had bunkbeds. I believe all types of rooms (standard, courtyard and woodsview) have bunkbed options. You should just note it on your reservation. Room requests aren't guarenteed but they do their best to accomodate the requests.

I'm not sure if you were talking about the restaurants in the WL for b-fast or all through WDW. WL has Roaring Forks which is a quick place to grab a bite to eat- sort of cafeteria style and that is a good option for breakfast when you want it fast. Whispering Canyon Cafe is a seated restaurant and having a PS is helpful because it does get busy. It also depends on the time of year. In October, we didn't have a PS for WCC and just had to wait 10 minutes for a table. If you are interested in any Character Breakfasts in other resorts or around WDW- those definitely require PS. The time you are going in Dec is not as busy as other times of the year so you could probably get away with not having PSs for regular non-character breakfasts.

Hope that helps!!

Happy planning!

thanks campinggal, thanks for your quick reply, sorry didnt make that very clear, i meant just the resturants in the hotel, we have been looking through the first pages the info is great, have made a list of rooms to request, thanks again susie

I'm giving DH a break from listening to all this Disney stuff (I'm going to try to make it a week ;) ), so I'm going on about it to y'all.

Have a wonderful day![/COLOR]

:wave2:

How funny. Last night at dinner I mentioned the "D" word to DH after giving him a break from all my planning. He just laughed and said "Here we go again".
Maybe they should start a club - SSDD (Suffering Spouses of Disney Diehards).
In truth he's glad to see me so excited about our vacation, he just thinks that I'm overplanning. All I'm trying to do is gather what info I can to ensure that we have a relaxing family vacation. When we travelled without little ones we were commando vacationers. We can't do that anymore. Who wants a meltown?

As an added bonus, as I've been searching for info, I've found some very nice people.

Hey folks, quick question, has anyone used the late check out at WL? How late is it and do ask at check in or anytime during your stay?

:p I totally agree that they should start a club--can you imagine what they'd say about us in the presence of their kind :teeth:!

I feel the same way about the people here. . .they are so kind. . .I feel very comfortable :).

julybride, campinggirl, tooboyz, babybunrab, s&k'smom-- Looks like we're in the same boat. . .our DHs are annoyed one way or another. I've been pretty good so far (How long has it been? ;)) I promised myself that I would not talk about Disney unless someone else brings it up--that's really hard :teeth: !

Some good questions were posted that I'd also like to know the answers to :

How early has anyone managed to get into their room at WL?

has anyone used the late check out at WL? How late is it and do ask at check in or anytime during your stay?

Have a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend everyone! I'll be working and visiting the DIS!

Hey! Take it easy on us husbands will ya?!?!? You can talk Disney to me anytime. :) ::yes::

How early has anyone managed to get into their room at WL?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have been able to check in as early as 1pm in the past. I am sure this varies by day of the week depending on how busy the lodgekeepers are.

It is available I am sure to anyone who asks. It also depends on the load the lodgekeeper taking care of your area currently has. If too many people have already asked, you may not be able to do it. This happened to us during our recent stay at the Polynesian. I would recommend that you ask at checkin.

Congrats on your new job. As always, you have my best wishes and thoughts for great success! I hope this works out for you.

Kim
Sorry about the lack of a trip report. I haven't really had much time and to be honest, have been less than enthused to write one. I need to be able to gather my thoughts. When I can, I will put some words down so you can all see why we won't be doing the Poly again any time soon.

Fred

Thanks Fred! Didn't mean to husband-bash--mine is the greatest (next to you, I'm quite sure). Only so much Disneytalk the poor man can take however!

Thanks for the early check-in info. I've officially lost my mind and decided to get to the airport at 4:00 AM with DS to try and get the 5:35 AM standby (I figure really early is likely to be have more seats than a later morning flight)..This will get us into WL at about 1:30, so I'd dearly love a room!

Thanks again for speedy answers.

Hey babybunrab??
Just an idea here, but you could call and book a late lunch at Whispering Canyon. That way, just incase your room is not ready yet, you'll at least be able to sit down and relax with a meal ;-)

We are thinking about doing that ourselves ;)

Chris

Oh, that's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. I probably won't have eaten (I get way to excited before big events to eat) so I think I'll do that.

Thanks Chris :D

I'm sorry if I offended anyone  . I must not have worded it right (I should not have used the passive tense in that phrase)-- I wasn't talking about DHs in general; just ours (or MINE ;) ). And I meant that we/I are the annoying ones (in varying degrees); I know am . I tend to annoy him when I talk about our Disney trip--I'm excited about it RIGHT NOW, and he isn't. He is just thinking about work right now--not fun in October. I don't think that he likes to be reminded that we're not on vacation NOW. He's really wonderful, patient, and generous, but I understand that there is only so much Disney that a man and non-"Disney freak (like me)" can take in a day ;) .

BTW, thank you, Majestic, for answering those questions; that helped a lot.

mrslane, it sounds like you had a magical time working at WCC! Let me ask you something? When we are in Disney, we always think it would be so much more pleasant going to work everyday. Does it really make a difference? Is it easier going to work in the "happiest place on earth"?

If you ever have a chance to take a year or summer to live and work at WDW, do it! The job wasn't always pixie dust, but driving through the MK gate AND driving under the monorail AND seeing Cindy's castle on the way to work EVERY DAY was incredible! I wouldn't trade my time at WL for anything. If you like being treated like a guest, try giving back! Working at WDW also came with great perks, like free park entry. At any time a CM felt like getting the magic back, we could drive over to a park and go in. I spent time just sitting, watching and listening (I'm not weird) to see guests encounter things for perhaps the 1st time and feel honored to be a part of the magic.

Thanks to everyone for saying "thanks" to my post. I'm glad I can still make WL fans happy after all these years... :)

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful memories with us!! Yes, we all "waved our napkins" during our dinner last Sept! Your *tradition* lives on!

Can you answer the long puzzeled question that plagues so many of us on the DIS? Why did the swimming stop in the lakes? So many "theories" abound... ;)

Glad to hear napkins are still waving!

The lake issue has to do with algae. I know that there has been problems, especially in the hotter months, with excess algae that will create rashes on people. Do a Google search to get some facts--it's not just a WDW ploy to keep guests out of the lakes!

Awwww mrslane, that gave me the chills!!I just love the magic feelings that WDW invokes in me.I even cried as we stood in line waiting for MK to open and the opening of the park ritual began!I still get goosebumps when I listen to my MK CD too!
