We're going to WL for the first time. We are on a package with a silver add on. By the time I was able to make my reservation the only thing available for my code is wood view. I used the Disney Visa but then changed it to the mailer code that came in my wife's name. Still only woodview available, but we paid $90 less than rack at CBR.

Thing is I don't care what kind of a view we get. We'll be there 4 nights. Between e-ride and EMH we won't be spending that much time in the room. If we are around the resort the kids (two teenaged girls) will want to be at the pool.

Is there some polite way to tell them they can give the wood view to someone who will appreciate it? We'd rather have concierge and wouldn't care if we get a poor view from there either. Is there something else that we can request in leiu of the wood view?

We did put it in our request that we'd like 7th floor if it's available. The CM didn't have a problem putting that in, and it showed up on our confirmation letter. According to the UG WL doesn't have concierge so I could always play stupid. My DW says I'm good at it.

It is also on our confirmation that we are guaranteed two connecting rooms but request that one have two queens and the other a king. Do these exist? I'd swear I read somewhere that the rooms with kings at WL are "special" and didn't think they'd be adjoining.

When I made our ressies last week, the CM told me that standard rooms are the only rooms at the WL that don't give the option of king bed rooms. So, I guess that form Woods View on up you get a choice of a king bed or 2 queens. I'm sure one of the experts here will correct me if I'm wrong.

Have a great trip!

As always I'm thinking of switching hotels again. WL is one of our favorites. Are all Junior Suite on the 3rd floor? And can anyone tell me a good AP rate they may have gotten? I had a dream we were at WL so now I'm thinking of changing! Thanks for your input.

Magic and Disneydmbnut....thanks for the info about the coffee. I will bring my own coffee and ask for a coffee maker when I check in.:wave2:

 Received my Disney Magazine Summer 2004 yesterday, the magazine's is titled The Readers' Choise Awards The staff had an indedendent firm specializing in on-line research, to administer a survey of their subscriber...(Disney Magazine)...many interesting questions, ranging from the personal (attraction you miss the most) to the pracitical (best place for kids to blow off steam) and covered everything in between.

What is your favorite Walt Disney World Resort?

Survey said the #1 Resort is...

1. Wilderness Lodge Resort
2. Polynesian Resort
3. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

s&k'smom,
The Junior Suites are located on some floors not just on the 3rd floor, but not on every floor. I received a Florida Resident rate of $139.00 for my trip in a few days. That is for a woods view, I have received a discount on the Jr. Suites but it has been several years ago, before I became a DVC Member (we stay at the Villas now when we have a larger group with us) so the rate I received wouldn't be of any value for current discounts.

Have a great trip.

Thank you MAGICinmyHEART, it is so tempting to switch. We don't go until Oct but man I have the hardest time deciding where to stay.

Off to the Lodge.:bounce: :hyper:

Can't wait to get there. ::yes::

To everyone else leaving soon, have a great trip!:wave2:

Hello again!

I booked WL last Friday, and the CM said that they would send me a letter. When should I expect to receive it? Do they usually do this when you book directly with them? I'm sorry if these questions seem elementary , but I need all the help I can get. TIA

:wave2:

Erika,
We booked WL beginning of the month, and our confirmation letter took about a week to ten days. But we booked the day before 7/5 started, so it might be taking a little longer now.

Thank you so much, j's m! I am really looking forward to getting it. . .it's like Christmas or my birthday will come early :teeth: !

(BTW, I told DH to not get me anything for my B-day, Christmas, anniversary---I'd rather save all the money we can to have a great time in WDW and the Wilderness Lodge! The time spent there and with him will be WAAAY more valuable than any object he can buy me!)

OK, Erika, enough with the cheesiness. . .

This was posted as a thread on the main RESORTS BOARD, and I just figured I'd copy it here since I thought there'd be a better chance of an expert seeing it.

Calling All Wilderness Lodge Experts
I have read through the WL FAQ thread and am very overwhelmed, well confused actually with all the responses.

I would like to know what anyones experience with the "Standard View" rooms have been. What was the view from the balcony of? Do they have stabndard room views that overlook the resort enterence?? I had only one request for this room and that was to have it located in the lobby area. Is this a possible request?Has anyone been upgraded from a standard room view at check-in?

Like I said, I know I have read the thread on the WL but would like someone to help me out with these questions if they wouldnt mind.

Thank you kindly in advance.

Take a deep breath and relax, I saw your question thanks to aesalsa, and will post a reply on both threads...The "Standard Rooms" Are All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds. Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks. No rooms look out over the front entrance.

When you make your reservations request a Standard Room Located off the Lobby and hope for the best.

Yes I have been upgraded when I had reserved a Standard View, The Wilderness Lodge gives updates often.

Hope you have a Great Trip.

aesalsa is correct about posting your questions on The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread... many times I will only have time to check a few threads and I alway check that thread first. ::yes::

Just wanted to pop my head in here and say HI, haven't stopped by in a while.

We're heading to WL in a few days, I hope to see some of you there!!! (I'll be the looney running around dragging DH w/ the lime green Mickey heads on my fanny pack!)
