The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am!

We have stayed in both rooms with 2 queens and rooms with bunks. You definitely get more walking space with the bunks!...and yes the rooms are the same size no matter what configuration you get(2 queens or queen w/bunks)! We did use a crib on our last visit...so the extra room helped!

We will be staying in a standard room. Is there more room for a crib in a room with bunk beds, or are the bunk bed rooms proportionately smaller than the rooms with two queens?

Thanks,
Kim

I'll be going to the Lodge this June as a 1st timer to WDW :teeth:! I see laundry was kind of mentioned on this thread so I hope you guys don't mind me asking. I'm one of those that while I'm on vacation I DO NOT want to do laundry if I can shell it out. I'm thinking we'd like to use the hotel's service at least twice while we are there so we can pack light and I'll have virtually no laundry to do when I get home (at least that's my plan)? How much do you think that's going to set me back for a family of 3? I just want to completely relax if its possible - can you blame me?

Thanks Folks! :sunny:

Hi, while I have never used the Laundry Service while staying at WL I do know it's expensive, and total price would depend on what and how many items you send out, just call Housekeeping for details and pricing.

Have a great trip.

Thanks, Magicinmyheart! I'll call them to see what they say.

Hi,

Just back from WDW and I did check on a few items while I was at the Wilderness Lodge:

All smoking rooms are located on the Sixth Floor, North Wing.

King Size Rooms: In addition to the 37 Lodge rooms with King beds that double as the barrier-free (handicap-accessible) rooms and have a large shower with no tub. They have 17 additional King Size Rooms with standard bath area, with tubs.

The Family Plans have been discontinued with no information as to if they will be offered again anytime soon.

*Recreation Family Plans:
Plan includes the Water Mouse, Pontoon Boats, Canopy Boats, Sailboats and Bicycles, (Cruises and Surry Biles NOT included)
Captain Plan: 4 hours of rental per Group $115 plus tax
Family Plan: Length of Stay Plan (Weekly Rate for Use of Equipment Listed Above) $199.00 plus
tax (Up to 5 Guests per Plan)

Can anyone give me information regarding Internet access in the rooms at WL? Is there a dataport? What is the charge?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I posted a new thread but meant to post here. We are Disney first timers (going in May) and staying at WL. Had no idea there were so many special discounts offered. Changed reservations from PO to WL due to discount advertised in paper.

Once on the park buses - what is typical travel time to AL, to Epcot and to MGM? Do buses stop at other resorts before going to parks?

What is quickest way to get from airport to resort? Have only 3 days and want to maximize our time there. Thinking of taking a cab. Heard that Mears is a long trip.

Staying in a woods view room. Can anyone offer comments about the rooms?

What about general comments on WL? Looks great to us, but we've never stayed there so I'd like to hear from the vets.

Welcome!!

WL is a great resort, you're going to love your stay.

Most people take a limo/towncar service. We've always used paylesstransportation.com. I'd suggest going over to the transportation brd, lots of great ideas there.

Boat & bus transportation from WL is great. 2 boat routes, large boat goes WL/FW/MK (any order), small boat, WL/CR/FW, any order. We loved to hop over to Trails End or Concource Steakhouse for dinner. The bus to Epcot or MGM, is around 20 minutes. (Estimating) In the am, we made a stop at GF, and in the PM, we'd stop at FW. (The only resorts who don't share a bus and/or make mulitple stops in the resort are AKL and Pop.)

We were in a courtyard room, so I can't help you with your woods.

Enjoy your trip!

I have heard many good things about Andy at FLtours..
http://www.fltours.com/

I usually drive so I have never used him, but understand he is great!

Woods View..ask for 5th floor, North wing..that might get you a castle view. Look for Majestic's post..he has a pic link with many balcony shots to choose from. You can also ask for an upgrade. I paid for WV in February and asked for Interior Courtyard and got it for no charge.

Enjoy!!

When I am in Orlando or traveling out of state, I use a company called MyFreeI.com for dialup internet access. They provide up to 10 hours a month of up to 56k dialup internet service for free. Each additional hour after 10 is billed at a $1 per hour with a max of $10 per month.

They work great and I have not had a problem connecting yet.

Take note that local calls at Disney are billed at the rate of 75 cents per call flat rate. There is no per minute charge AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT DIAL A LONG DISTANCE NUMBER. (This information was current up to January 2004 and may have changed since. Please check with the resort prior to your stay.) I emphasize that because I have read stories of people staying at Disney with $500 to $600 phone bills because of this!! Make sure that you ask the operator or hotel desk to confirm your dialup access number is in fact a local call FROM THE HOTEL. Local calls may or may not be different depending on where you are staying.

The number I use for them while staying at Wilderness Lodge is 407-641-4014. As of January 2004, I was not charged long distance for this number. I cannot promise you anything after that date.

Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for any bills or long distance charges you may get simply for providing you with this helpful information. :) Double check your dial numbers!

We have used Tiffany Town Cars and love them! Won't go any other way. They also offer a $5 discount on their website. They were always waiting for us on time and picked us up on time to return to the airport. Cars were clean and air conditioned. Drivers were very friendly.

Are they still doing this at the WL? Anyone know the time of day it usually happens? I have read about it several times and in the last three trips we have not done it. This trip we are taking a more relaxed approach (we'll see if that happens) and might try to work it in for DD.
