The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

Hello all!

So how funny is this: DH was on the computer last night, and he tells me that lately he's been afraid to go in the office b/c I've got Disney stuff all over the desk! :rotfl:

Placed our final order from the Disney Store this morning: two t-shirts each for DH, DD, and myself, plus a zip-up hoodie sweatshirt for DD.

Thanks everyone for the input on the birthday dinner issues. We will see if they can fit my mom & dad in at Chef Mickey, but if not they have ADRs about 15 minutes later at The Wave. But here's the weird thing: my mom has done everything through her TA at AAA. I showed Mom the menu at The Wave and the ADR times it was offering me (6:55 or 7:25) and she agreed it sounded like a good plan, so after she dropped me off at my doctor's appointment she went down the street to the AAA office to book it through her TA. The TA looked, and didn't find anything at The Wave around those times. Got back from the doctor, pulled up the reservation system again, and there they were, so I created her a login and booked the ADR for her myself. Anyone else ever had a TA not be able to book something you could see at home??

Did get a touch of bad news yesterday though. I've been fighting lower back pain for months, and back in July an x-ray taken for unrelated purposes showed some deterioration of one of my discs & the surrounding vertebrae. Since then I've had multiple dr. appointments and tests done (MRI, disc aspiration, myelogram) and yesterday I got final confirmation that I will need a single level fusion of those two vertebrae (L2-L3). Now I pretty well already figured it would be needed, so no surprise there, but b/c of the bone spurs pushing pressure on my spinal canal, my dr. said no coasters for me at Disney. :sad2: I agree with him that it's not worth the risk (even though I am paraplegic from damage higher up, damaging those nerves could result in permanent pain, or affect the bowel/bladder function I still have), but am bummed at the same time. I've never ridden Everest, and was looking forward to doing so this time, esp. since it'll be a few years before we get back. Oh well. At least the surgery can wait a few weeks; I'm hoping to do it right after Thanksgiving so that I'll be through at least the initial phase of recovery by Christmas.

Anybody else still having trouble seeing your ADRs? When I click 'my reservations" it says I have none, and when I search by res. # it still can't find it. :scared1: I thought when it came back up it was supposed to be fixed?

Today is our 3 week mark -

I'm debating when to start packing only because when I pack I make a mess in my room because heaven forbid I close my suitcase when not packing... Also I'm starting get my small "freak outs" like we do have 7 day park passes right? They are park hoppers right?

Also I have a question - So Magical Express did not send tags to our TA for our bag. I was told just to keep the luggage receipt and give that and a description to the guys at Orlando airport and they will get our bags - I was going to use to yarn to ID our bags as well but any other suggestions to make sure they find our stuff? I am also advising everyone to pack an extra set of clothes on their carry-on just in case!

Can I pack yet? Can I pack yet? Can I pack yet?

I already packed the shorts. :rolleyes1

And I put the activities for travel time for my son in a bag. And the swimsuits are in the bag. :rotfl:

I have to work right up to the day we leave so when I have time to do something I just do it. I really don't want to spend much time doing anything but taking a shower the morning we leave!!!

Can't believe it's just weeks away! :yay:

Yep .. still having issues. When I had called after the first update they were able to find them on their end.

But we'll see if they ever get back on line. I may need to cancel a couple but I'm not sure it's worth the LD charges to make it happen. I don't like having to wait for 15 min on the phone.

I just called to make my final payment!!:cool1: The CM asked if I had my dining reservations yet, I said yes but they aren't showing up. She said as long as I have my confirmation # I have a reservation!

Sorry to hear you need back surgury and won't be able to ride EE, but it is a good thing you found out about the risk before you went to Disney and maybe rode EE and caused extensive damage. I sat out last year while everyone rode EE I am not a coaster person. Good Luck with the Operation

I checked mine today and it shows nothing for me, I tried to pull them up with the conf# and nothing , it said call to verify. I wish now I had dug out my conf# and cancelled them while I was on with Dining cancelling HDDR the other day. I will wait a few more days just in case they should reappear online

I have read here on the DIS of people calling and they express mail the tags etc to them when they have not arrived, I doubt you can call since the TA owns your reservation but if it were me I would call the TA and tell her to call and get them express mail the ME stuff to you.

This is me too. It is KILING me. I feel so unprepared, but I cannot pack clothes we need to wear! I am getting all the "pre-packing" done this weekend. Everythingh that will not be needed before the trip is going into the rubbermaid tote!!

I have the tickets to get onto ME (the ones they scan), I just don't have the yellow tags for our bags is all

Ah ok, seems odd you did not get the bag tags then since they come together in the mail when you make the reservation yourself :confused3

I'm sorry to hear this. I hope you don't suffer with too much pain while you are at Disney.

I haven't looked since you ladies have been talking about all this with them not showing up. I am afraid! :scared1: I think I will wait until you all say it is back up and running properly and then I will look! :rotfl:

I did make a few more ADR's last night online and that worked fine. :goodvibes

Sounds like she's ready to go!!! :cool1:

No packing until the day before... right Shelly!!!!!

I might actually get the suitcases up stairs this weekend... and have the boys find their travel bags for their golf clubs.... maybe...:lmao:

Yep, my kids are ready for sure and we have been packing. We have started a bit and will be doing a bunch more this weekend since we don't have too mcuh going on.

We are at 29 days today and I have not started packing, probably will wait another week or two.
Shelly- I liked the tiny fine print at the bottom, we can still read it though!
What a yucky day! I am so hoping for good weather this trip!
