The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

Good Morning everyone!

I just found something new to stress about, when I tried tcheck my ADR's
on-line only 2 out of 7 were still there!:scared1: I know there is a hugh thread of others who are having the same problems and I have posted there too. I just wondered how all of you are coping with this new stress?

This is my Disney Nightmare!:scared1:

Yep...same here...and Le Cellier is one that doesn't show up!:scared1:Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon they will have it fixed.....
Hello!
We just booked a trip for November 7-12th on Friday! I had been toying with the idea for several weeks and finally got the DH to bite.:rolleyes1 This trip is bittersweet for us, because my husband is leaving for a tour in Korea the day we get back. We didn't know when he was leaving until last week, thus, the late planning....

We canceled a trip for last December, because we thought we would be able to get command sponsorship (Army permission for dependents to accompany) for Korea, and figured we should save our money for traveling in Asia. *cough*Hong Kong and Tokyo Disney*cough*
Anyways, over the past few months command sponsorship has become unlikely.:headache: The waiting list jumped from nonexistent to 100 people and we're still not on it, even though we turned in our paperwork months ago (we could only submit it 180 days before his report date, and that's about when the waiting list appeared). I decided that we needed to spend some quality time together without distraction (dishes, laundry, other family members etc), and what better place than Disney!?

Soo...we booked 5 nights at Caribbean Beach Resort with one of the many pins Disney has sent me since canceling last December.

It will be me, my husband, and our 3 month old son. (oh yeah...did I mention that I found out I was pregnant the week before we were supposed to leave on our trip?!)

Anyways...Hello! I'm sure I'll become familiar with many of you before we all leave for our trips.

hey Becca!! Glad you came over!!!
Sheila and Jessica~ I am sorry for both of you that you are definitely going to cancel:hug: And Jessica...how crummy that someone hit you and didn't tell you!!!!!!! WOW..that's bad...Sheila, I hope your repair is quick and painless and a lot cheaper than what you are expecting!!!!

Shelia and Jessica :hug::hug: I am so so sorry that you both have to cancel your trips.. I wish there was some way some pixie dust could come your way! But I understand about being responsible.. it stinks! Hope you guys are able to get back down soon and that everything else works out okay.

As far as the ADR's I really wouldn't worry if you can't see them online. As long as you have your confirmation numbers you should be fine!

I can't believe we have 18 more days left!! :cool1::cool1: But it goes by too fast.. my friend just got back from Disney yesterday... and that's the part that stinks.. it will be over before we know it. :sad2: wish we could just live there.:rotfl:

Sheila and Jessica, so sorry.

Some of my ADRs were missing online, I called yesterday and they're all listed.

4 weeks from right now I'll be getting ready to hop on the bus to the MK! :yay:

I just got caught up on all of the chatter here!

To those who recently lost loved ones, I am so sorry.

Sheila & Jessica - it stinks to have to be a responsible adult :sad2:  Maybe we can all hit the lottery so we won't have to be so responsible? :rotfl:

Parades? - not really, until DS came along. He loves them! Does anyone know if the nighttime one with the lights (ashamed that I don't know the name ) will still be around in November?

Where to sleep?
MK - the castle, of course
E - gardens in Canada - at least I think that is where they are
HS - under the big hat
AK - dino play land - where you dig up the bones!

I love the mouse school excuse! I sent a note in on the second day of school that we would be gone, but I think I am going to need to follow up with the mouse note. DS's teacher is very nice, but not quite as communicative (is that a word??) as the one last year. We got lucky with the school schedule. They will have off Veteran's Day & the following day, so he'll miss 7 days instead of 9. Only 1st grade, A student, don't think there will be much of an issue. Found this cute journal in the DISsigns forum that I will show the teacher. It will help with practicing writing, sentence structure, punctuation, etc...

NJMermaid - We stayed at the Dolphin for 4 nights last November and loved it, it got us hooked on the benefits of staying on property. The pools are lots of fun and the proximity to the Boardwalk was great. We almost booked there again this year because the price is so reasonable, but I really wanted to try a monorail resort. I think you will be happy with your choice, although it won't be quite as good as AKV.

Travel documents came yesterday! Woo hoo, less than 30 days to go!

Well there are two that light up at night, both at MK. Spectromagic and Main Street Electrical Parade, it's going to be one or the other.

They brought back MSEP this summer and have decided to leave that one running, indefinitely I believe, instead of Spectro.

I would never dare ask this anywhere but here (I know you people wont flame me!) what is the difference between the 2?

Hello from a fellow Army spouse! This is an R&R trip for us, but the the last one was a pre-deployment trip. I cry at the drop of the hat anyway, but I sure did spend alot of that trip teared up! One thing I was glad we did was take a couple of pics of just us.

Have a great trip!

I figure crying at Disney is better than crying anywhere else.

Qotn: are you a parade watcher?

Before my son we never watched but he loves them so now the plan is to see them all!

Nope. We're afternoon breakers, so we aren't usually in the parks during the parades. If spectro or msep is going on while we're there, we might stop for a minute, but not usually. Maybe when I have older kids I'll do the parade stake out, but it will be a while.

Yep...same here...and Le Cellier is one that doesn't show up!:scared1:Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon they will have it fixed.....

Hey Shawna!

Ok ... so I'm not the most up to date on the parade differences, but from what I can recall (it's been a long time since I've seen MSEP) but I know the music is different and that some of the floats are different.

I seem to recall their being little bugs during the MSEP that scooted around. I don't think they were part of Spectro.

Can anyone else give some more details please... Cheers.

I had to laugh when I read your idea about winning the lottery since yesterday while DH and I were out we stopped at the convience store for a water and he came walking out with 6 instant scratch off lottery tickets, as he handed them to me I asked him if he was crazy and he said they were only two dollar tickets and maybe we would win and not have to cancel the vacation, I put them in the glove box and forgot about them, I did all my cancellations this morning and boy oh boy will I be upset if when DH rubs those tickets off he wins  yeah right what are the odds

Yes yes yes!!! I love the parades, I am one of those nuts who stakes out my stop 1-2 hours before it starts to get my prime spot. We use to head down to Disney for Easter and go to the televised Easter Parade , I had my special spot and was there 2 hours before it started, Regis Philbin always came to this place and talked to whoever was standing near this trash can on Main St, my DS :littleangel: had the trill of his life when Regis came and talked to him on live tv, I only wish I had had the forsight to set the VCR to tape(yes it was that long ago) it so I would have a copy.
Last year I was walking backwards out of DHS filming the parade since my Ddil was having a panic attack due to the crowds and making her hasty retreat, DH was laughing at me saying I was going to fall and break my neck because I was walking backwards filming the parade.

I have already begun priceing out rescheduleing our Vacation for next year. Just not sure about if I want to go again in November and do the F&W or later after Thanksgiving so all the Christmas Decorations and activities are in full swing. I am leaning towards the later, the resort priceing is the same Nov- Dec is no longer value season and lower than Nov but prices are lower than the regular season prices for Nov 2010. No Discounts out yet but I may just go ahead and schedule it now anyhow so I have something to look forward to and plan, cause I am kinda depressed right now over having to cancel after planning this trip since February. Just not sure where I want to stay Maybe the Beach Club?

Need to change my tickers too :sad2:

Sheila and Jessica, I am so sorry you all will not be able to go :sad2: I know well how that budget cutting goes and I am so thankful for us we were still able to go by camping instead. (Had my tickets not already been paid for, I probably would have cut the trip for another time as well.) I wish you both the best and hope your next planned trip is above and beyond what you hoped for this one.

For me, I guess you could say I am a bit melancholy. I am definitely looking forward to getting back to Disney, but it really seems to be hitting me now that it will also be the 1st anniversary of my mom passing that week and I find I am missing her more and more each day. :guilty: (I don't know how much longer I can just pretend she is up in the mountains on a really long vacation :confused3) I am holding out hope that Disney will do what I was hoping from the beginning it would do and help make those days a lil more bearable and leave me less time to dwell on it. But I guess we will see.

What I guess I am trying to say is if I don't post much over the next lil bit, please forgive me.

So sorry to hear about those who have had to cancel your trips. Such a big disappointment. We had to cancel ours last year, too. We were supposed to go with my mom and my brother, but DH couldn't get any more time off and then I lost my job... so it was just not meant to happen. This year we're finally getting to take our re-scheduled trip! So I know how you feel... sharing some pixie dust for your next try! pixiedust:

Thanks!!!! My biggest question is its shutter speed. Im tired of my p&s taking pics of DS turning away because it is so slow taking the pic. I was curious why the blue was cheaper. Its my favorite color so that works for me too. Thinking about getting one for DM also since the price is right. Looking forward to the review. popcorn::

Hello Alexensmom!!!!
Ok.. got the camera. Easy to use. Pictures came out nice - when not playing with wrong scene mode- oops!:rotfl: As to shutter speed... it seemed pretty good on normal mode. When I changed modes it seemed to slow down... I was at a baby shower over the weekend and party mode or food mode (don't remember which :confused3) was slower... I will try and play some more this week and let you know. I will try and get some opportunities to check out the shutter mode more closely.

Thank You everyone for the well wishes but we decided after much going back and forth to cancel and just try to reschedule in 2011. DS and Ddil decided to pull out so DH and I went over all our options with staying at a value or mod but we decided we probally would not be that happy and I know he was going to be worrying about the spending $$$. The boiler is going to run us between $2000-$2500 :scared1: It would not be so bad except a couple of months ago we had to replace the bladder on the well pump and then DH ended up having to put $1500 into his car begining of summer.

Jessica- that is just awful that someone hit you and did not leave their name and number, that saying about when it rains it pours is so true. I also hope this is the end of the bad luck for the November travelers

I will keep an eye on this thread too, if I left I would probally go into Disney Withdrawals :rotfl:

I'm so sorry Sheila. I was hoping to run into you at WDW.

I hope you will continue to stay and chat with us!

I am a parade watcher. The rest of the family could take them or leave them. I would like to see MSEP if it is still running since we have never seen it.

Jessica and Sheila, I am so sorry to see you have cancelled your trips. Very understandable on both accounts. Being an adult while planning a not so adult trip is hard. I have been a poster and lurker on this thread from day one and have read all the planning you to have put in to your trips. I have gotten a lot of good advice from you too. Avid trip planners really do have some great ideas!!!!! All works out in the end and like one person said "sometimes God needs to do the driving". I loved that.

As for parades.. I love the spectro magic parade the best.
