The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

8 more days
Anyone do early check in? Is there really any advantage to it?

I have done it a few times now and it really does save you some time. Especially on our last trip where we stayed at the Fort. We did not even have to get out of the car. We simply drove up, told them who we were, got our package and drove straight to our site. :cloud9:

QOTD: Drive or Bus
We are staying offsite *gasp* for the first time so we will be driving ourselves around for the first time as well. I am really curious to see how it compares. In some ways I think it will be great now having to wait for a bus. In other ways, like days we are park hopping between Epcot and DHS, it might be a pain as we will have to boat back to the park where the van is parked. We shall see!

One week from today we will be arriving in Orlando. Hard to believe!
My DS got cut off the 7th grade basketball team after 3 days of tryouts yesterday. I know in the grand scheme of things it is such a SMALL issue but boy was it hard to be a Mom yesterday and see his face fall as he realized his name wasn't on the list. Hopefully Disney will cheer him up fast!
My other DS is having a CT before we leave next week. He has some hearing problems that thus far have been helped by the several sets of tubes he has had placed. However, his hearing is failing again, this time more noticably to us so his ENT wants a CT just to check things out. I'm praying that will go well and there are no issues beyond his eardrums.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Will you take Disney transportation or drive?

We have taken the buses in the past and are not really opposed to taking them again, but I am one of those people that once I am ready to go, I am ready to go and don't care much for waiting. :rotfl::rotfl: Now I do like however taking the boats from the Fort to the MK. There is just something about being able to jump on a boat and be delivered right to the front steps of the MK :cool1:

Here's hoping that all goes well with your DS's ears. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about the other's BBall tryouts. I'm sure Disney is just the cure for any sadness he may be feeling. :yay:

Can we link both numbers to the same online account and put them all on one CD, or do we need to take all of our pictures on the same card?

Yes you can use both Photopass card numbers on the same online account.

QOTD: We drive down and then drive to the parks. We did that for our first trip and loved being able to leave when we were ready and not being at the mercy of the buses.

We will take the busses from CBR. My husband doesn't exactly drive for a living, but is a mobile tech for Safelite Auto Glass, so he spends lots of time on the road. Coupled with the fact that we're driving down, once we're parked it's not moving!

Just a quick check-in before I'm off for the weekend. This has truly been the week from hell; Trackey I totally feel your pain on the unexpected expenses as we've had nearly $1000 worth this week. First our flat-screen TV went out, had to replace. Then the whole family got strep, so copays plus medicine for all. Then our A/C went out, though thankfully we have a connection who is charging us materials only, or else it would have more than doubled the repair bill. THEN I saw an unusual charge from my mail-order pharmacy; apparently one of the new prescriptions I submitted was written as name-brand only, so what should have been no copay was now quite expensive. All of this is biting into our Disney spending budget, and was going to eliminate our church retreat this weekend, but thankfully the church is putting up the money for us to still go. That coming through, plus the birth of our new niece :lovestruc on Tuesday is truly all that has gotten us through the week.

Tomorrow morning we're going to DD's Halloween party at her preschool, then her uncle is bringing her to his house for the weekend. We'll try to stop by DH's other brother's house to see the new baby (haven't met her yet since we've all been sick) then we'll be off to the retreat. We're already in single digits, so whenever we get back on Sunday, full-on Disney panic mode will begin! Lots of unpacking and re-packing to do! Still undecided whether or not to online check-in; what is the benefit?

I talked to my mom (who is coming with us) about splitting the cost of a pre-paid Photopass, and she agreed. One thing we're curious about: we both received Photopass cards since we booked separately. Can we link both numbers to the same online account and put them all on one CD, or do we need to take all of our pictures on the same card?

Sorry about all the woes you have had this week! Isn't it amazing how they all seem to come at once!!! :headache: I am a firm believer though that God does not give us more then we can handle, even if WE don't think we can handle it! So just think of it this way, we must by mighty strong!!!! :thumbsup2:lmao:

QOTD...BUS! After driving longs hours from IL to FL, we are ready to not have to drive for a week.

I have decided that I’m not packing until 5 days away from the day I leave:scared1:, I just attempted to pack and realized I’m packing for all four seasons, it’s insane! Shorts jeans crops t shirts sweatshirts, bathing suits?!?!?!?!?!?!?:sad2:

Oh I hope the low on the 11th goes up. That's when we're going to MVMCP and Girly!Roommate and I are making shirts that will look MUCH better if we're not wearing coats (going to do a trip report hopefully and trying to figure out how make a difference between my two roommates so maybe Girly!Roommate and Boy!Roommate...)

Oh and we're at 12 days till we leave and 2 weeks till my Birthday :dance3:

And for the QotD -

Disney Transportation for us! Never had an issue and renting a car means I'll need to navigate to Disney and back and more importantly I'd need to pump gas to fill the tank before returning it and this New Jersey born and raised girl does NOT pump gas :rotfl:

:cool1:21 DAYS OR 3 WEEKS :yay::cheer2:

We got Mickey Mail yesterday..woohooo!!! I do have a question though..We opted for the Disney GC discount and it says in the packet to bring confirmation with you for the gc..Does that mean that packet or what?? I have printed off the email that i received that breaks each thing down and whats in our package but i never got just a confirmation of the gc in the package??? Anyone know?? TIA :)

i KNOW THIS A LITTLE OFF TOPIC. Can yall do me a favor? Go to facebook. Search Hydro Flask on pages and Like my pumpkin. Jessica Mitchell Wilkinson. Trying to win an orange Hydro flask. Thanks in advance. :cool1:

QOTD..we always drive. We don't like waiting for the buses or lugging our stroller on it. I am thinking about doing 1 bus ride for our arrival day bc we are checking into the boardwalk then heading directly to MK...but then heading to EPcot for dinner. If we bus, then I don't have to worry about getting the car later.

Also, I decided to rent a stroller agin for this trip. I considered just bringing an umbrella stroller for my 4yo but I really liked the double we got last time from magic strollers...so much storage and cup holders galore. I also know that by mid afternoon my 6 year old will be happy to ride;)

Will you take Disney transportation or drive?

We always take the buses. My husband drives for a living so for him vacation is leaving it to someone else. Now this is our first trip with a toddler and a stroller so it will be interesting!

We'll drive this time because my DBiL likes to drive all over the place. I've done Disney transportation before and I don't mind it at all. If there's a wait for a bus or it's crowded, I just look at it as part of the Disney adventure. The 1st time I went to Disney with my DS he had just turned 3. My DSis went with her 3 kids ages 5 -3 and 1. We stayed one night for the parade so it was late when we left the park. My son and my 1yo nephew fell asleep so it was a challenge for the 2 of us to get on the bus with a single stroller, a double stroller, 2 sleepy kids and 2 other kids but we did it and 14 years later we still talk and laugh about it . You'll be fine with 1 toddler. :thumbsup2

BUS! BUS! BUS!

The hubby drives a long way to work and back each day, and is driving us down there after working all day, and he wants to park the car when we get there and not look at it again until we leave! :snooty:

The buses may take longer, but to us, its a trade off for not having to find your way around, not having to remember where you parked, not having to pay for gas to drive around, and being able to have a few drinks with dinner, etc, and still be able to get "home" safely! :rolleyes1

Looks like Sunshine so far for our arrival day on the 12th. of November, but I see the temps are dipping. We have been for the past 2 years this same week, the week prior to ours was in the 80's our week was down right cold in 2008! I was hoping for a warm week but we will see!

Look at this in 2008, We were high in the 60's and one night we even got down to 39! So be prepared for cold, it can turn very quickly. The day before we arrived it was 82 and sunny!

My husband also drives for a living so anytime we have vacation either I drive or we take other transportation.

Does anyone know what the limit is to charge back in a moderate, we usually stay deluxe... but we stayed in a moderate on our first visit ... and this is our 20th trip and we wanted to go back to where it all started for us, we have not stayed in POR for 10 years. Thanks :)
