The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

We are here at the POFQ and pwDebbie is two doors down from us... saw her turnkey in the window today!!!! She is in 6323 and we are in 6319 and 6321

No Christmas decor here at the resort. But they are up w/Christmas music at DHS and MK. Kind of overwhelming to leave a park one day and there is no sign of Christmas and come back the next to be greeted by Christmas decorations and music. Amazing what they do overnight.

Your two doors down from us!!!!

10 days and we will be in WDW! First night we are at CSR and then move to the YC. I plan to do on-line check in tomorrow for both. I cannot believe how quickly the last couple of months have flown by!!
This is our 4th Thanksgiving trip. We love that week. I can't wait to see all of the decorations, the people, my dgs's faces when they see Disney World. Regardless of cost, this trip is priceless for that sight.

Have either of you guys been able to see what is going on with the refurbs in building 7? I have seen some reports that they are putting in queen beds, and that some of those rooms may be ready for guests by the time we get there at the end of next week. I woudl so LOVE to get a room with queen beds!

3 DAYS LEFT!!!! AKV HERE WE COME!
we will arrive at 10:55am and have a 1:30 Teppan Edo lunch scheduled. Is it wrong that I'm way way more excited than my DH and kids? Or, is there something wrong with them?

When you say you're arriving at 10:55am, what do you mean by that? You mean your plane is coming into MCO at 10:55? Because a specific time like that sounds like an airline arrival. Don't forget that you need time to make your way downstairs to Disney Welcome, board the bus (that usually takes at least 20 minutes), then its 30 minutes to Disney, check in, then board the bus from AKV to EPCOT. I'm not sure you're leaving yourself enough time! It always takes longer than you expect.

That is SO cool! :cool1: Wish I was there too...oh well, only 4 more days and I will be. :yay:

Thanks Mindy!

We're renting a car and only have to worry about our carry-ons. We aren't checking in any bags. SW has a 100% on time rating for the flight we're taking and it's the first of the day, so we may be a little early (we were last year, by about 15 minutes). And, I've heard Dollar Car Rental is located in the airport, so no shuttle to the rental center. If we're running behind, we can just drive right to Epcot. We already have our tickets but I want to stop by GS and get a TIW card.

Sounds like you've got it all thought out! I'm thinking about TIW card too. About how much do you need to spend on food before you break even? Any idea? We have 4 ADR's. Via Napoli, Kona Cafe, Trails End and Chef Mickey. The rest will be at chance. Does Rainforest or T Rex take TIW? We usually eat at one of those at least once. But we just walk up. We rarely wait more than 45 min. which is what you'd wait in my area for a table without ressies.

I think I figured after 5 meals the TIW card has paid for itself. I actually looked at the menus for our TS ADRs, on allears.net and picked our typical meals, then added an adult beverage (b/c they're discounted too!!) and we saved an average of $15-20/meal. Considering the card costs $75, it would take 5-6 meals to break even. We have 10 meals planned for our upcoming trip and are going to WDW again in June 2011.

I can't wait!!

If I remember correctly it is one of the innovention buildings..the one where the little play house area is for the kids. We do it every time we go...mostly for the character interaction..the photo is ok.

How many in your party... because that has an effect on how fast you break even. Our party will have 4 adults, 1 teen and 1 child for the first 3 days, then my son arrives and we'll have one more adult for 4 days. I'll have to do some math!:teacher::eek:

Where exactly do we go for this?

Please help me, haven't been to the world in ten years

In EPCOT, there are twin buildings called Innoventions West and East. They're just past Space Ship Earth. Go inside Innoventions West. Walk towards the Segway demonstration on the left.. as you walk a little passed that, you will see it on the right... if you look hard. Its sort of across from the Segways, but the line soon extends toward the "Video Playground". It is an unmarked room on the RIGHT side. There is a black curtain and an opening in the wall. That is where everyone lines up. Once it opens, you'll see the CM with the podium. I believe it begins at 1:30 and goes until 4. Have your VISA card with you, but only one person in your party needs to have the card. The characters inside vary by the day, but we've usually had Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy.

These are the places we picked this time around.... We only have one table service meal per day.

  • 11/26 Teppan Edo
  • 11/27 Planet Hollywood
  • 11/28 Le Cellier Steakhouse
  • 11/29 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian

Yes, that is Innoventions West. The little playhouse is part of "Where's The Fire" sponsored by Liberty Mutual. When you walk in the door, the first thing in front of you is the firetruck. You walk past the firetruck on its left side, then pass the playhouse, then you are just about there as it is just across from the Segway Central. The photo is printed out for you at the Kodak Photo Center under Spaceship Earth.

Bring some earplugs.... Planet Hollywood is LOUD!! With a capital L! The last time we ate there, not only was the DJ playing loud, but the whole top level was taken over by the South American student groups and they were stomping their feet and shouting chants at each other! We ended up leaving right after our meal, no drinks and no dessert because it was just painful and we couldn't have a conversation. you won't have the South American tour groups to contend with in November, but its still LOUD in there! The food and drinks are good though.

AHHH!! We leave tomorrow and I am not even 10% finished with packing. I am so sleepy right now that I just want to go to bed!!! I need motivation.
