Hi all! My new VP at work took away our telecommuting option, so now instead of going into Boston two days a week and working from home the other three, I have to go in full-time I should not complain, because I am very thankful for my job, and I was able to enjoy the flexible work arrangements for several years, but it is tough to get used to an hour commute every day again.

The reason I mention it is (1) it is healthy to vent and (2) I have not been keeping up with all the posts on our thread and I am still way behind! I'm on page 136 now, and I've been holding off posting until I get caught up, but I can't seem to catch up!

I finally booked our flights: SW either added some more Wanna Get Away seats or they just lowered their prices, but I was able to book all four of us for $1157 RT. The last time we flew to FL was in 2007, so I was dealing with EXTREME sticker shock for a while, but the fares finally got down to $124/$144, out of Providence (which is very convenient) and they are non-stop (which is HUGE for me).

Shelley - The way to sell everyone in your house on a Disney cruise is to order the free DVD. My kids were initially bummed about going on a cruise (because it meant NOT going to DisneyWorld that year, or the year after, due to the cost) but the DVD sold them. It really was one of our favorite family vacations! My husband and I want to take one by ourselves next time. Just not sure when that will be . . . . maybe for my 50th?? (Its only 5 years away, actually. YIKES, I can't believe I just typed that! )

Okay, I feel better now, I posted for the first time in weeks rather than just lurking.

You just made me remember one!!!!

When our youngest was 4 he was in LOVE with Cinderella. So we did dinner at 1900PF. She must have seen the look in his eyes because she walked right up to him first (past his 6yr old brother), took his hand, said "My Prince has arrived!", and kissed him on the cheek. I thought he was going to faint!

Then later in the trip we were at the late Spectromagic parade back in Frontier Land. There was noone around us, so we got a lot of attention from the characters in the parade. As she passed by in her carriage I said "There she is Cameron!". It was the same Cinderella! I don't know how, but she must have remembered him! She leaned out of the carriage and blew him a KISS! He pretended to faint and just lay there on the ground smiling. We have a wonderful video!!!

This trip he'll be 9 and much too old to kiss a princess!

Just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain!! I just changed jobs in March and went from a commute that was only 15 miles from my house to having to drive all the way into downtown. It's a great job but I now have to drive an hour each way!! And those days where there's an accident on my route are the WORST!! But I'm like you, I'm thankful for my job and even more thankful that I actually LOVE my job. So I guess it's worth it!

Does anyone else do a 100 day countdown calendar? I'm going to do some more work on mine today. I usually just make a big chart on poster board and put stickers on each day, but this year I'm going to make a really nice one with velcro on the numbers so I can use it again.
I know 100 days seems like a lot, but we are always amazed at how quickly it goes!!

The kids and I make a HUGE construction paper chain. We drape it all the way around our family room (over the windows and TV). Each day they take turns tearing off one link. It is so exciting when it gets smaller and smaller!!!

QOTD: We've never been to a water park at WDW. Kids have always been happy with the resort pools.

App.'t went well yesterday but was a bit unnerving. The tech took 2 films and radiologist looked at them and requested another film. I was told that the doctor would give me the results before I left. The doctor looked at it and told me everything looked great. I'm just thankful that she was very thorough.

Congrates on getting your plane tix, I know once I bought mine it was such a relief, also sorry to hear about the change in your work schedule, the fact you have to go into the office each day and that long drive will surely take some getting use to again

Congrats on getting your airfare. That always makes things seem more real!

Sorry about your new (or more often) commute. That really stinks. I hope all goes well for you. I am so very lucky to work within 5 miles of home, but DH does have to commute and it makes for long days for him.

I am still working on the family about the cruise. . . DS11 is just certain that it won't be near as much fun as Disney. We may have to do a land & sea package so we can have a few days at the parks to make everyone happy. But I'm afraid that will make things seem rushed, plus I don't like the cost of it!!

Oh well, I still have 3 years to obsess over it!

Add me to the list of people who have been trying to get the fam to buy into a Disney Cruise for YEARS! dh doesn't go to WDW with us anymore, & he doesn't like cruises...so it would be just me & the girls, which they're good with a cruise, but only if that's in addition to our week at the parks! YIKES I haven't yet had that big of a chunk o money to do both.


Although I like the idea of a cruise on my 50th....which is only 5 yrs away for me too!!!

We have done a 7 night (with 2 park days after) and a land & sea with 5 night park, 3 night cruise. It was so awesome! They really carry over the Disney feel to the ships. There are characters all the time for pics and on the private island, great activities for kids and adults, and everyone is so friendly. You should all try to do it!
I got a lot of work on my 100 day countdown done yesterday. Cut out all the circles and mickey heads and the letters. I also found a great piece of that poster board with foam in it- now just to put it together.

I guess I must be in the minority but a cruise has never appealed to me... guess it is because we play golf a lot while we are at Disney.... kind of hard to get championship courses on the cruise ships..

I'm sure Royal Caribbean is working on that right now!!

There are golf courses in many ports of call though. Cruises (floating buffets) aren't for everyone.

I just read the Yacht and Beach Club thread and there are soooo many who are there or on their way. Then I looked at the date and decided 4 months isn't really that long.
I also received a little packet yesterday from Disney to tide me over it said. I have now told my GS we will be going some time, no dates. I am sure they will start to bug their mom once they return home!
Now if I could just get FD pin for my week I would be so happy.

I use to dream about going on a cruise all the time, but it just never happened, now since we don't have younger kids I am not sure if a Disney Cruise would be right for us, I do think I would like to try something short 3 day or so to see if I liked it or not, I would hate to book a 7 day cruise then find out I was prone to sea sickness

I would definately want to stop at WDW too, the air fare is such a big expense when heading down to Florida it just makes sense to do both I think

I've only been on one cruise.. it was a 11 day Land-Sea vacation with Royal Caribbean to Alaska. The ship is so darned big that even when the ship was moving fast, we could barely discern the ships movements. Its way different than being on a small yacht! The only time things got hairy was when we attempted to cross the deck to get to the cafe that was accessible only from the deck. It was incredibly windy, cold and raining hard. It was hard to walk! I think we were out to sea on the way to some place like Icy Straight!! Some giant iceberg. And this was in August!! But sea sickness was never an issue. I'm sure the Caribbean would be even more calm. Unless there's a hurricane.. and then they'd go to safe harbor.
