Went to try on the Asics Cumulus 14 today with the insoles I've been wearing and I still don't like them...I'm really disappointed because I've been in love with those shoes for over two years :( oh well, I left with a shiny new pair of Nimbus 14's instead...hoping it'll be an easy transition. They felt pretty good for the couple of minutes I ran on the store's treadmill in them. Not happy they were $30 more than the Cumulus...which were already expensive enough!!!

I love my Nimbus 14's! I bought the first pair in the running store, but got my second pair online for about $65 cheaper.

I have been looking over my adrs for this trip and don't really love them.

Originally I had us eating at Kona for dinner Sat, the night before the half but I'm not thrilled with new menu.

Where is everyone else eating the night before? I need some ideas:)

We're doing 'Ohana on Friday night to splurge and then on Saturday night either eating in the room (Ft Wilderness cabins) or at the Trail's End restaurant. I figure that's pretty basic, simple food (fried chicken) that's unlikely to upset my stomach during the race.

We are eating liberty tree. I figured thanksgiving dinner would be good before a race. :)

I'm having motivational problems lately too. Between my new shoes that I don't love, all the rain we're getting and my gimp knee, it's been hard to get myself out there. Tough Mudder is Saturday and I feel like I peaked on my training 3-4 months ago and now it's just "meh." Could use some pixiedust: right about now!!

I finished my 3rd half in 2:49 not the time I wanted but still a PR.
How did you do on the Tough Mudder? How it the knee?

I'm officially training. I started last week. I was already running prior (did the 5k haunted trail run while I was down for the Wine and Food Fest). Hubby is going to come and do it with me. He has done quite a few halfs (hes my motivation) but this will be my first. I figure if I'm going to do it I might as well be in Disney and get a tiara medal (hopefully).

Hey - could be a first - we almost have my sedentary DS9 in for running our church's 3K / 5K in a few weeks. If he agrees, it will be our first "family" event - me, DH, DS10, DS9 and DS4 in the stroller. Awesome - can't wait! Although DH and I are going to draw straws over who "runs" with the 9y.o.; I have a feeling he will sound very much like one of those whiney zhu-zhu pets most of the way through. ;)

Have you had it before??? We LOVE it!!!!! Soooo good!!!

I haven't but my princess buddy has! She loves it too- didn't have to twist her arm much! :)

So, my BF came home from church this morning with a bottle of champagne, orange juice, and the new diamond edition Cinderella DVD. Not a bad way for a Princess to spend a rest day, huh?!? Hope everyone had good runs this weekend! We had a little cool front and it was 50 when I ran Saturday morning...felt great. Warming back up this week, but it was nice for one day at least.

He sounds like a Prince !!!!

Cinderella is my favorite. I guess that is why I have always had a issue with too many shoes. :)

My sister and my three nieces are doing the PM in Feb and are trying to encourage me to register also. My sister has knee issues and will be mostly walking so she swears I still have plenty of time to train and can do it too.

What do you think? I am not a runner by any stretch, I hate to do this only to be disappointed with myself if I just don't stand a chance of finishing. If I start this week can I train enough to actually be able to finish??

Oooh! I LOVE Liberty Tree! Good choice!

I think we will be in Hollywood Studios on Saturday, and I was thinking pasta, so I got an ADR at Mama Melrose. Anyone eaten there? :confused3 What do you think?

I'm going to be taking a break from the thread for a while because I have a brand new place to run...I'm getting ready to go to Uganda in a few days with Shot@Life (the charity I'll be running the Princess 1/2 for) to go see UNICEF child survival programs in action! I'm nervous and excited. And wondering if I'll have a chance to run in Africa?

If you're interested, here is a link to my trip blog starting with some pre-trip thoughts about clean water during my long run.

I'll be posting pictures and stories as I can. I'm going with 9 other volunteers with Shot@Life who support global vaccines to save kids from measles, polio, rotavirus, and pneumonia. if you're inspired to help, feel free to visit my fundraising page here

See you all in a few weeks. Keep up the great training everyone!:cheer2:

WOW! Safe travels on you're amazing trip! I'm sure it will be a life altering experience. Amazing, amazing...keep up the great work!

What an awesome guy!! We had that same cold front here, it was wonderful.

Most likely! It depends on how you stand from a physical perspective and what your goals are. There are TONS of first time half marathon walkers and walk runners. If you are already active (ride bikes, play soccer, tennis, something like that) then you are in a good place to even be a full on runner by Feb!

WISHers have a saying: Did not finish is > did not start. (or something like that!) The gist being- you will never know if you don't give it a try!

But at this point, you do need to get started on a training plan. The biggest thing to be careful about is doing too much too fast- you can get injured if you do!

GL! Hope you join the PHM - it is LOADS of fun!

Just registered!

As far as meals go, I will eat at Sanaa to celebrate on Sunday night. Otherwise, I will likely add the QSDP and be all counter service.

Thanks Longhorn 2!

While I certainly don't consider myself an athlete - I am not a total slug:rotfl: I try to stay active on a day to day basis despite not hitting the gym as often as I might wish I did.

My goal is to simply finish... I don't care if I am the very last person to cross the finish line:p! I'm thinking that I will run/walk the coarse and have not expectations of being able to bang on a full on run for 13.1 miles.

Registration is beginning to fill quickly and as you point out, I really need to make a decision and get to training. I just don't want to jump into something that I have no prayer of completeing:rolleyes2

I say go for it! It sounds like a fun weekend with your family. Girl power! And I think as long as you get started this week, you'll be just fine! Most here didn't start training until oct 1, so you aren't too far behind at all!

We went to LTT on our last trip (a few weeks ago) and LOVED it! Unfortunately, my daughter (who had a stomach bug taht we didn't know about) ralphed all over the place and so our dinner was cut short (I felt SO bad for her!!!! But LTT was awesome, helping us out). We look forward to going back - maybe we'll do it for PHM! I'll run faster for more of that OGTC :thumbsup2

Thanks Longhorn 2!

Cindy, you can be behind me! :rotfl2:
My goal in every race is to not be last. I don't even care if I'm next to last, I just don't want to be last (bad memories from high school, lots of bullying and ridicule - FROM THE TEACHER...)
I'm run/walking it too and I know that I'll be near the back. I'm having a hard time beating that 16mm pace time right now, and it's driving me nuts!

I think I finished with 23 people behind me in 2011. Not last but close! :)
