I also have a hard time losing weight while training. Have you tried adding in strength training? Plus tracking food in and out to make sure you aren't eating too much OR too little. Both can be an issue

My friend loses more weight when she exercises less. You could also scale back to just the training for the half.

I am also in the "no way she's a runner" category by looks. My weight has clung since my last baby a year ago. Off weight off!!!

I am having this problem too, I have been doing a cross training program and all of my cloths are bigger, but the scale has not moved, I am eating good tracking, working out 6 days a week. I am not even running, yet. I have to start training now I have a half in Oct.

I just don't get why the scale wont move

I have actually heard this from a lot of other runners - the inches come off, but not necessarily the pounds. You are building muscle, which is good - it makes you look tighter. It might be better to focus on inches / clothes sizes than pounds. I'm blessed with a smaller frame but, after 2 years of running and several half marathons, I STILL have the "baby pooch" around my tummy and the "baby" just turned 4! I know that I cant' get rid of that until I do targeted exercises just for that area.

My baby just turned 5,,,,but yet my belly still looks pregnet :lmao:

I have to say that with just running I was not even loosing inches, not until I started this 90 day workout have I noticed the differance. It's Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. Worth evey penny IMHO. Its been nice to take a break from running this summer, I am hopeing that with the added crosstraining that now when I start training for my Oct half it will not hurt my legs as much.

I'm having the same problem. Ever since I lost 15 pounds from my jaw surgery, and started training for this race, my stupid scale has been stuck at 130. My mom says the same thing "you look like you've lost more weight, but remember! Muscle weighs more than fat! thats why you're stagnant" Its just frustrating when you cut back, but as long as I look like i'm losing weight then i guess i don't mind so much about the scale! I want to LOOK good, not just have the scale tell me so.

I track my food intake and calories burned by exercising. Nothing seems to work. Been to the doctor twice and she keeps saying I am doing everything right. I just tell DH I guess I am just going to keep plugging away and maybe it will work itself out. Stupid weight! I am in the baby weight gain, although my youngest is 3 hehe I get so frustrated because I have a friend who probably eats 2000-3000 calories in one sitting and never exercises but she is a good 45 lbs lighter. Of course she just turned 30 and I am 39, maybe that is it....old age :-)

Keep at it! I had my kiddo three years ago and after losing the initial weight I stopped losing at about 175... and stayed there for almost 3 years despite working out, playing soccer, taking dance classes, (kinda) eating right, etc. Then, all the sudden I dropped almost 15 lbs in 3 months. I wasn't really doing anything different, so I'm not sure what made the weight loss happen, but from what I've heard sometimes it just works out that way- you body is all the sudden ready to lose again!

Looks like there's a handful of us doing the Rockfest. Yay!! After slacking almost the whole month of July, I finally managed to get two runs in this week. Now if the rain will hold out a little this weekend, I plan on doing 7-9 miles. The distance will depend on how I feel and then next weekend, I'll just go from the mileage I did this weekend.

sounds like we are on the same schedule. I slacked the whole month of July as well! :confused3 Did 8 this morning on the dreadmill..so glad that's over!!! I thought about waiting till tomorrow but just new if I did it would POUR!! I am going to go for 8 again next week.
Happy running!

I'm doing the marathon too, and haven't heard anything about this. For both races I am using my DVC points. This year when I did Princess, you just got on the bus, no one asked for any proof that you were doing the race. Although I guess you could use your bib, but family members are allowed to use the buses also. So that really doesn't make any sense.

^ ITA - transportation to the races is for spectators, as well as runners, so I don't see how they could require special passes for the buses. Can you imagine the fallout if several thousand runners/spectators miss the race because they booked in non-host resorts?! It would be a PR disaster and WDW avoids those like the plague.

Weighing-in on the running/losing weight topic (pun intended ;) ) - remember that if you're training for a long run, you're also training your body to go longer on less fuel; it doesn't differentiate between a long run day when it needs to reserve all the fuel it can and the rest of the week when you want it to burn, baby, burn. I'd like to lose about 5 more pounds and it's HARD, if not impossible, while I'm doing long distance training.

I still look prego too. It is weird cuz I kind of have a 2 pack at the top and the bottom belly looks like I am 5 months. You can even see my ribs at the top. But my legs are solid muscle and even my arms are getting smaller. I have out on 1-2 every month since January but my waste/arms/leg size has not changed. So weird

I have been going up and down 1 - 2 pounds also. But I am very happy my clothes are getting big..

We are headed to WDW in 33 days, and on th Dlx Dinning plan. I so hope I don't gain. I do plan to run while I am there.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who's been slacking. Great job on your 8 mies this morning!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed it isn't pouring tomorrow morning. I'll deal with rain (because I figure I can't control the weather on race day, so I shouldn't let it control my training), but I could do without heavy downpours. If I didn't have to worry about my glasses getting all wet, it would be much better. A hat only helps so much.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Rockfest! :)

If you will already have access to a car and don't need to rent one then offsite *can* be a cost savings. If you don't have a car then typically staying on site and using Disney transportation is less expensive.

If I were to go this route, can anyone tell me--is parking horrendous?

Parking itself isn't horrendous since they use the EPCOT parking lot. What could happen is traffic backs up, and then getting out of the parking lot was an adventure this year. People were trying to get out at the same time and Disney had not set up a maze through the parking lot to let traffic flow. We sat in the car for about 15-20 minutes before being able to pull out of the parking spot, then another 15-20 minutes before we got to the main line of cars. By that time the maze had been set up, but I know people had the same issues at Marathon weekend this year as well.

I called RunDisney today and they quoted me $1091.28 for 6 nights at AoA in a Little Mermaid room, which is higher than the stated rates on the main Disney site ($972) for the same dates. Ended up booking at Coronado Springs via RunDisney for just a little bit more than the AoA, with what appears to be good savings over the Disney rack rate.

If anyone has a spouse working for an airline, there is a number to call to see if the interline discount is availabe for the PHM week. Number is 407-828-3111. This number is only good for airline employee families and you must fax a copy of the airline ID within 72 hrs of reservation or it gets cancelled. Hubby and I used this for AK last year (concierge level) and scored a room at the Contemporary Club level for PHM. Great discount so jump on it if you are eligible.

For the military folks, don't forget Shades of Green is across the road from the Polynesian and although not an official hotel for PHM the rates are good and done by rank.

Just think...only 6 1/2 months until PHM!!:cool1:

Noticed you are in Plano, TX. How is your running going up there? Down in San Antonio I am doing treadmill (not so bad!) but sweating up a storm and getting about a 13:45 per mile.

I am so excited to find this thread! I had always wanted to do a Disney Marathon, but I was always such a weakling I never thought I could. But due to recent events in my life, I have to make a change! I have to make myself shape up and work hard! So I have signed up for the race in secret. I have not told my family yet, they would laugh at me and say that I'd never do it. But I am SO doing it!
I have some questions for you all, as this is all new to me. 1- I have been running on a jogging trail through the woods near my home. Is this okay, or should I really be running on pavement? What do you think? The whole half marathon is on pavement is in it? 2- How soon before the race do you guys start wearing a new pair of shoes? I had to ditch my old pair because they fell apart when I started really running, so I just started on a new pair, but the woman at the store call me if I was going to be running many miles a day, they would definitely wear out before February. 3- Does everyone wear a costume?
Thanks all!

About the same. I'm doing an 8-mile run tomorrow, on the treadmill :headache: If I keep my music fun, I don't mind so much, and my gym opens at 7 so I can get it done early.

I'm the same way. I had my 2nd 4 years ago, and I just can't get rid of the pregnant belly and I tried everything. Yesterday I was in yoga class, and one of my teachers (on mat leave but there was a student) was next to me. Her baby is 1 month old and you can't tell she had a baby.
I'm trying to focus less on the scale number and more on inches. Trying. Not successful.

Getting out- I'm not too worried about. Getting in and being on time that early in the morning is what I was mainly concerned with ;-)

Welcome aboard!! Just to give you fair warning, Disney races are VERY addictive! But are a great motivator! To answer your questions...
1.) Trail running is great, it's easier on the joints. I would say mix it up a bit and let your legs get used to running on pavement for the harder impact. Princess is all on pavement, but there are some spots that get crowded and people do move on to the grass to get by. I like doing this to give my legs a break from the pavement.

2.) This year I got new shoes about a month before Princess. I would defininately give new shoes a few weeks to make sure you don't have any hot spots. You definately want to have that worked out before race day.

3.) Lots of people dress up in varrying degrees. Either way you go you won't be alone. Half the fun of a Disney race is putting together the costume. Just make sure it is something you will be comfortable running and/or walking 13.1 miles in. Lots of people use running clothes that are moisture wicking and modify them into a costume. There are lots of cute running skirts available. There are lots here who make their own tutus. Me, I'm not so crafty so I go for the premade stuff.

Good luck with your training. The PHM is the most fun 13.1 miles you will ever run, or walk, or both!
