I found a training program that can make me ready for the princess if I start training 11 weeks before, but the program starts from a 5 k, I need to get ready for that as well. So I really hope that I can start running again in about two weeks.
It is so frustrating!!!

Where did you find that training plan?

How did you do for the Hot Chocolate? Did you have any packet pick up drama or drama at the start?

We did not, we did the 5K. We got to pick up Saturday morning with a little line. When we left about 45 mins later the line was very long.
We started in D corral so no issues there, but I feel for the people who were in the back.

My original plan was galloways Tink plan and then doing the last 5 weeks of princess plan he provides (I was doing the non beginner programs)

But now I have ITB issues so I may end up just following the princess plan, with Tink as one of the long training runs. I was planning on raving Tink and playing at princess, but depending on where I go with the itb issues I may have to reverse those runs. Tink will be treated as a faster training run for princess.
Oh no! I really hope you're able to recover quickly, that's no good :(. I think that's a good way to treat Tink, a training run. Since California is so close to me, I'll have more chances to play there another time. Princess is so far, so I want to "putt around" to enjoy every bit of it and take lots of photos!

I think you are confusing me with someone else ;)I didn't do the Hot Chocolate.
I found the training program on the Danish training site, where I have my blog.

For those of you who are doing Tink and the Princess half, how do you guys plan on continuing training from one race to the next? I'm just curious because I follow Hal Higdon's 12-week plan, and I kind of don't know what to fill in the 5 weeks between races. I debated just doing the last 5 weeks of the training plan I'm following now? I'm not sure. What do you guys plan to do?

The November issue of Runners' World has an article on running back to back fulls. It includes this blurb on Halfs:

Repeat Halfs
Tips for racing consecutive 13.1 milers
> Double up only if at the peak of training for your first race you ran at least 4 days a week, logged 25 miles a week, and completed at least one 10- to 12 mile run.
>Schedule your second event 3-4 weeks after the first event.
> Recover and taper for one week each.
> During your training week(s) do one long run, one to two recovery runs, and one day of short intervals (400-1600 meters).
> If you have three to four weeks between halfs, run one 10-12 miler

Hey ya'll! I am running the disney princess this February and was wondering if ANYONE had the slightest clue of what denotes certain corral starts. I am curious to know the qualifying times for Corral A, and also what Qualifying time is needed to make the elite corral. There is just no info on this anywhere! help!!!!

Hmmm... a lot of this depends on the entrants themselves and how their times all sort out. JUST based on last year, it seems that a 10K time of under an hour +might+ get you in Corral A, but again that depends on how many fast runners reg for this year. As far as elite goes, I wonder if that could be invitational?

I think your idea might be a good one. Go back down in mileage and work your way back up again, giving your body a little break between the 2 races. It's not a good idea to just keep running super long runs every weekend between the two, I don't think.

I am so excited for February. I love reading the posts on this board and on Facebook. I feel as though I have a huge support group and it is wonderful.

It IS wonderful. It helped answer SO MANY of my questions the first year I ran the Princess and that made for a much more enjoyable experience.

Since we're talking shoes (of course, again - we are mostly women on this board!), I was due for a new pair so I recently went back to the running store for a follow-up opinion. I run in Brooks Ravennas, and that's all I've ever had for the last 2 1/2 years - the sum total of my running experience! I have mentioned here before that I thought it odd that I am sized 1.5 sizes up from my regular shoe size. The salesperson seemed to think that was odd, too, but when she felt around my foot in the shoe she said that this was definitely the size I needed, so I was glad to lay that to rest. Perhaps I should look at my regular shoes!!! Anyway, I tried on the Ravenna 3's (I've only had 1 & 2), a pair of Saucony and a pair of Nike. It's funny how different the shoes can be - the Nike's felt odd, but the Sauconys downright hurt. Way too tight from the minute I laced up. My good old Ravenna's came through comfy. I don't know how much of that is just what I'm used to, but I went with them. Here's the stupid, girly part - I haven't run in them yet because it's been rainy and my new shoes are so pretty I don't want mud and dirt sloshed all over them!:lmao: But glad I can stick with what I know and that they don't seem to have monkeyed around with them too much. I wanted to try on a pair of Asics b/c they just seem to have a cult following, but I had my 4 yo with me and just did not want to tax his limit of good behavior!

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all on this board for being a bastion of good behavior during the election hoo-ha! Not one peep from anyone regarding political beliefs. Thanks for staying on topic and avoiding drama!:worship:

I am doing the Wine and Dine half on Saturday followed by Tink and Princess next year. That gives me 11 weeks-and several holidays! to get/stay in shape for the Tink.

My plan is to train 3-4 weekdays with one day for speed work. For my long runs each weekend I will do either a 10k or 10 miler. If I am feeling like it, I may do a 15-17 miler, but I didn't do anything near that for the Wine and Dine. My longest distance for this half was 13.1.

Any other suggestions on that plan? Thanks :goodvibes

Hmmm well, my 10km SPLIT in my last half marathon was 45 minutes, so I am REALLY hoping for a good placing...I think I am hovering on the line.

Both my parents and I are dying to find out lol. Thanks for the help tho!:cheer2:

:worship::worship::worship: That's going to be an absolute BLAST and I'm totally jealous! GO !

Knowing that I'll probably be in the back of the pack, I"m practicing my Beauty Queen wave (elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist) and plan to just ignore any self-consciousness that comes up and enjoy the crowds! :thumbsup2

Good luck at the race! I was going to sign up for some local 5ks but just thinking about them made me have anxiety dreams about being so slow. I did sign up for the Turkey Trot 10k on Thanksgiving at Tachachale just so I can maybe possibly improve my corral placement for the Princess.

Have fun, I'm sure you'll do great. We usually don't go to the parade, but if we decide to go I'll look out for you! GO GATORS!

I am sorry I quoted the wrong post.
Thats what I get for reading Dis while helping my kid with her homework

Does anyone know the prices for any of Disney resorts offering race discounts? We have stayed off site the last 2 trips and we enjoyed it but of the discount is worth it we would stay on site.

TIA

I called and I wrote down a few quotes for different resorts and then compared them to what I could get with the special offers that are going on right now (they have room only discounts as well as free dining going on for the PHM time frame). I found that I could get a better deal booking on my own with the discounts that Disney is offering right now so that's what I did. I don't remember the exact numbers though, sorry!

Thanks. I will do that this weekend. I want to at least having something booked and continue to watch for better deals. We LOVE the Hilton Bonnet Creek but I couldn't get the MVP rate.

I also got a better rate using the current discounts. We are spending 4 nights at Coronado Springs, and saved $200 by switching to the room only discount.

What are the current discounts available? I have been trying to get quotes online but having some difficulty. The site keeps telling me I have 13 days until my September 28th visit. I've tried refreshing the site but it's still there. I got a quote of $745 for French Quarter room only 22nd-25th.

I know there is a room only discount but am not sure what it is exactly, my TA emailed me and told me the difference so we went with it.

I found the discounts posted on Mousesavers (I'm searching everything on the phone and I should probably wait to my E#1 brings our iPad home from school) and its the usual 15-25% value, 30% moderate and 40% deluxe. I thought $747 seemed high for a discounted rate. I got a really good rate when I registered through the race in September for a moderate.

I need to find the number and call both Disney and the events line to get pricing an then search our preferred off site locations and make a decision.

I can now officially run over half of a half marathon. And I can do it without getting swept! :cheer2: 7 mile run this morning. It was a hard run; my last 1.5 miles were slooooow and miserable. I'm definitely going to have to start fueling on my long runs.

I called RunDisney and got a hotel quote through them for French Quarter. While on the phone she told me the race registration was $140 per person (online says $155). Is it cheaper to do it on the phone and do I still get hit with a processing fee if done on the phone? I am waiting for my husband to land and let me know if he was able to take vacation before I register (will be today are tomorrow as they are only in until 6pm).

I was also told by regular Disney that if I booked my hotel through them and not through the event that I can't get transportation to the race Is that true?
