Thanks ladies for the post birthday wishes. :flower3: Hubby and I did go to the movies last night at 10pm to see HANCOCK. My 2nd babysitter threw the offer out to me on Friday when she heard how sad I was not being able to spend time with Charles on my actual birthday. She's Jewish so she knows about our way of life and said to me, why don't we go to the movies after sundown on Saturday. I told her I didn't want her babysitting that late and she explained to me that she rarely sleeps anyway. Sometimes she doesn't go down til 2 in the morning so watching Mo while we did a late movie would not be a problem. :goodvibes Hubby called his boss to make sure they didn't have to work that evening and check this out....remember the man I told you I was angry at...he asked my hubby did he want to do something with me for my birthday and Charles of course answered yes, so he said, see ya Sunday then! His boss put my feelings before his job. :rolleyes1 It was weird being without Mo, but so cool to be able to go out with my hubby. AND Hancock was a REALLY good movie! As usual, Will Smith did his job once again! :thumbsup2 So maybe next Sunday hubby and I will do a double feature of The Hulk and Dark Knight. We'll have a Marvel and DC day! :yay: That'll be about 4 hours without Mo, but it's like that anyway when we're working and he'll be in good hands with Esther. :woohoo:
Hubby did buy me some beautiful carnations for my birthday and told me my gift is "on the way". :cool1: Looking forward to seeing what it is.

As for the QOTD: Mo was never really a pacifier baby. For the first few weeks of his life he used one and then just wasn't interested. So we are blessed to not have to worry about breaking him of the habit when he gets older.

Hubby and I went to The Melting Pot last night. Oh my, I was on :cloud9:

It was soooo good. I believe it was here were people were posting about it. I noticed one on the way home from lunch w/my parents at the Rainforest Cafe. It was a nice night out w/out the kids. We have now booked our babysitter for next Saturday and a Saturday in August. Plus, I have to work a weekend in August, so the boys go to my parents house overnight...another night out!! We're going into the North End that night...not sure where yet, but it's been so long since we've gone into Boston!

We use to go all the time before we moved to the Boonies!!

It's so weird, I think we'll be going out more this month/next month then we have since we had kids. I love that we now have a babysitter. This is a fairly new thing for us. It use to only be my mom or my aunt and they don't live close to us, so either we went out to eat by their house or it was an overnight trip. Now I have Heather...YEAH. She was a teacher at my daycare and both the boys love her. She got another job closer to home, but still watches the boys for me.

Wow...that was a long post. Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Belated B-Day Denise, I'm glad you got to spend some time w/your hubby. We really need that once in a while!!:goodvibes :thumbsup2

Denise- glad you had a good birthday!! :)

Stacy- I  the Melting Pot! I actually bought an electric fondue pot at a yardsale (never used! $5!!) in hopes of recreating the cheddar fondue. Bliss.

I need to find a non-relative babysitter for nights out, but all of our relatives are so close and MORE than willing to watch V, so it has never really been an issue. But, still- it'd be good to find someone just in case.

Ash- the pics look great!!

Bethany- I am so jealous of you living in the city- we have to drive an hour to St. Louis to find something more culturaly diverse than a tractor pull. :lmao: But, we can see the stars, and don't have to put up with crappy neighbors, so- there's pros and cons to each, I guess. ;)

Kelly- the backpack thing looks cool.

QOTD: I have long posted of my child's love for her pacis. She sings about them, carries them around, and sometimes, one just won't do it: she just needs a bigger "fix."

41308-1.jpg

(she can even do 3 at a time!!! :lmao: )

Ladies- Ok. I'm totally lazy- can you post links to your blogs again? Ihave decided to start one, but I want to take a peek and see how other people are doing them, and see what host sites you guys are using. Pleeeease? :)

OMG Becki -- Vaylie with her multitude of pacifers is SO funny!

Kelly - the backpack looks great -- you will have so much fun at WDW -- are you getting super excited now --- its only about 2 months away right. When are you there? We are there Sept 13-20th. Where are you staying? We are at POFQ (w/o Izzy though).

Holly -- LOVE the blog - so cute and creative!!

Denise -- glad you got a date night with Hubby. We are having date night on Friday to go see Batman. I am hoping to wrangle a dinner out too!

Tiggerstac -- hi - I need to look into this mom's panel.

Meredith -- how are the new feeding schedules going for the twins?

Pollito -- could you bring a book for Alex to look at in line -- or a disney video on a small portable dvd player? Maybe you and him could just sit to the side watching a video and then when DH gets to the front of the line you could jump in then. When are you going?

Bethany -- the festival sounds so fun!

Ash - yeah for a new camera. Ellery is simply adorable.

*******************
Previous QOTD: we live and die with the pacifier. Izzy loves her pacifer. Since about 6 months old she has been old enough to put it in her own mouth - which is great -- so if it falls out she can plop it back in - and she does this at night in her crib as well. She really only uses it at night and sometimes during the day if she is crabby or agitated we will give it to her to calm her down. She seems to be using it less and less as she gets older - but we still love it and are so thankful she uses it!!

*****************

We had a great weekend. My inlaws have pool so we spent most of the weekend there. I got Izzy a float and she loved it. She loved the water and we had a great time. We were either in the pool or Izzy was eating or sleeping except for Sunday afternoon when we hit Target for a bit and I got her a bunch of cute shorts on clearance for $2 a piece. Yeah!!

So -- one week from today I go to Vegas!! Yeah!!! I can not wait. I am literally counting the HOURS. I am going from Tues afternoon retruning home Sunday morning (red eye flight out on Saturday). I am going with my Dad. I plan to play alot of cards this trip - including a bunch of Poker and Pai Gow Poker. And I plan to DRINK!!! Last year when I went I was pregnant so no free booze for me. I am not a big drinker in real life -- hardly ever drink - but in Vegas - I do -- its kind of the only time I really drink with abandon! I am so excited to GAMBLE and go to my favorite restaurant -- In and Out Burger. It is SO good there. So the Countdown is on!!

*********************
Question of the Day: Is your baby left handed or right handed...and when were you sure which hand they would be?

We think Izzy is going to be a lefty like her dad. She still uses both hands but she uses the left hand more and she seems to prefer eating her Gerber puffs and other finger foods with her left hand. I think she is going to be a lefty. She will be 9 months old next week so I don't think its cemented yet -- but my money is on Left!!

Have a great day ladies.

-Nicole

Becky, that picture is priceless! :rotfl:

Ash, congrats on the camera.

Kelly, I have no experience with a backpack. Right now, we use a Snugli with Spencer facing in. I ordered a Combi Uban carrier that should be here any day now. I am hoping it works. I still really want an Ergo.

Holly, your blog was too funny.

Nicole, Vegas sounds so fun. My MIL is going in April and I would love to go.

Old QOTD: Spencer doesn't like pacifers at all. He has started sucking his thumb though.

New QOTD: He uses both hands, but mainly sucks his right thumb. I asume he will be right handed

Ash - Ellery is beautiful! Those pics are great!

Kelly - we have one of the backpacks for Christopher. DH loves it. I've never used it. I have an Ergo that I use, and I love it. I could walk for hours with him in it and not even notice it (outside of the occasional hair pulls if I stop moving :) )

Bethany - the drumming sounds cool! The only drums I get to hear around here are from our next door neighbors son, who wants to be a rock star...

Becky - Love the pacifiers! Christopher does the same thing with spoons. If one fits, he might as well have 2..

Nicole - have a great trip!

QOTD - I think he'll be a lefty. His Grandpa is, but neither DH or I are.

Jen

QOTD: Brady hasn't decided yet, which hand to write with. Tyler didn't until much later, he wrote with both til about 2.5 or 3.

I have lefties on both sides of my family, so it wouldnt surprise me if he was a lefty. I write w/my right, but everything else is lefty, bat, swing, eat w/left hand. I think I was forced by school to write w/my right hand. I use to be able to write with both, but I stopped practicing :goodvibes

Nicole- the schedule itself is going fine..it does seem that I have to manage my time better though if we go out, but that is temporary, after all they are 8 months old now!

I decided to just not worry about Zoe's eating for now..she gets the amount of formula she needs even of we battle about it a bit, so ANY solids she gets is like a bonus and a learning experience. Hopefully she keeps gaining weight and will grow to love her food!!!

Bethany, Japantown sounds and the drumming sounds like fun! I have been to a few middle eastern type drum circles, and I love to play my doumbek (only a couple of rhythms, but it is fun!)

Both twins use both hand almost equally, but Zoe does slap at stuff more with her left hand. DH and I are both lefties!

I really haven't seen any clear indication yet! I"ll have to pay more attention!

Hey Ladies! I took Amanda Joy in today for her 6 month pictures. Overall, I'm very pleased with them, but disappointed that her blue eyes didn't really show up in them. I think the background took away from them. Still, they're pretty cute ;) Here are two of my favorites!

LOL @ Vaylie's paci's. Too funny.

QOTD: Ellery is using both hands about the same now, I haven't noticed her prefering one over the other.

Becky - That pic of Vaylie with all the paci's is FANTASTIC!! Love it!!! The link to my blog is ..... http://nhbradyboy.blogspot.com/

Nicole - Ya, hopefully the backpack will work out! My luck we will get it and he won't like being in it! ;) We are SO EXCITED about Disney - hard to believe it's coming up so quickly! We are going Sept. 5th - 14th and staying at the Boardwalk Villas. My parents are coming as well, so we got a 2-bedroom. We overlap the day you check-in! What time do you arrive? Maybe we can meet-up that night for a drink or something! Where do you guys fly out of? We are leaving out of Manchester - it's so easy getting in/out of that airport!!

Jen - Glad to hear that Christopher likes the backpack! Hopefully it will work out for us! I imagine I won't be wearing it that much - only DH. He loves it though. He practically slept in the Baby Bjorn last time at Disney. :lmao: He loved wearing it - and Brady loved being in it!

Holly - The pics of Amanda Joy are gorgeous! She always looks so happy and cheerful...such a happy baby!! Did you go to the Picture People? That chair looks familiar!

QOTD: I think Brady is a righty - he does most everything with his right hand. We are a big baseball family - so we are trying to get him to at least throw lefty....big call for lefty pitchers out there...lol.....

Hi

We are flying out of Providence on Southwest (looked into Manchester but got a better deal in Providence). Anyway - we land about 2:30pm -- figure we should be at POFQ after getting the rental car and stuff at 4pm or so.

We have an ADR at Ohana that night at 6pm and then we are heading to MK for spectro and wishes. That is our traditional first night event. When Wishes ends we always walk around Main St and basically loiter for as long as humanly possible!! Anyway -- we expect to be back at POFQ by 10:30-11pm or so!

What are your park plans that night - are you going to MK/Wishes?

I cannot wait for this trip!!! I am having total disney withdrawals lately. We usually go every year in Sept for our anniversary (we honeymooned there 8 years ago this Sept) and I did not get to go last Sept because I was pregnant and my husband ended up going for a long weekend with friends - I was SOOO jealous!!

Anyway -- I cannot wait to go - 2 years in between is 2 long! Plus, we are realizing that this is most likely our last trip alone nad our last trip for awhile. I am hoping to be pregnant again by next Sept and by Sept 2010 - if we have 2 kids -- a trip to Disney just for us (or with 2 kids that little) is out of the question. So we are really trying to make the most of this trip.

We have a bunch of great ADR's planned and we are even going to Universal for a day!

2 more months! Yeah!!

-Nicole

Oh, I am soooo jealous of you ladies going to WDW! (In a nice, non-begrudging way, of course). My SIL and BIL are taking Dnephew in Sept. too. Free dining and whatnot.

:( I want to go too.

But alas, apparently it like, costs money and stuff. Boo.

Next year.

BTW- I thanks for the links. bookmarking them. AND- I decided to go with Snapfish for the prints- at 9 cents, it was super cheap, plus if you use coupon code : JULY4PENNY08 you can get 50 prints for $.50!!! Plus, I had ordered V's 1st Birthday invites from there, and I was SOOO pleased- they were amazing. So, I'm pumped. Yea!! :yay: I'll finally have pictures of my kid! :lmao:

QOTD: I'm not sure. She seems to switch back and forth with her hands so much, that I can't tell a real preference.

I have tomorrow off, so maybe I'll try to get my blog thing started. :) Or, maybe I'll sleep in and lay around in my pjs. who knows.

Oh yeah, that's great! If anyone has a blog they would like me to link to, just let me know!

My exciting news for the day is I GOT A NEW CAMERA!!!! I'm so excited. We had been saving up for one but then I had to pay off some unexpected doctor bills from that hematoma thing I had from the c-section, which just happened to happen on new years day, which means new deductible to meet. Anyways, I finally got one. I got a Nikon p80. I like it so far. I think I"m going to take Ellery to the lake tomorrow and take some outdoors shots.
I'm still figuring out how it works, but here are a couple of pics

dadasosilly.jpg

Oooo...I love getting new tech toys! My digital SLR camera is my favorite of all my "toys". I love this photo - very fun!

Hubby and I went to The Melting Pot last night. Oh my, I was on :cloud9:

I'm still trying to persuade DH that it's worth the $$$ to take me there again! Soooo yummy! Maybe I need to just save up and take him out to dinner. ;)

Bethany- I am so jealous of you living in the city- we have to drive an hour to St. Louis to find something more culturaly diverse than a tractor pull. :lmao: But, we can see the stars, and don't have to put up with crappy neighbors, so- there's pros and cons to each, I guess. ;)

I've lived in small towns in the past, and I definitely agree that there's pros and cons to each! One town I lived in had a lot of monster truck rallys - that was the big cultural event...:lmao: So I am enjoying the cultural diversity and opportunities in San Jose, but I really do miss being able to see the stars, and hear the crickets and the birds instead of the traffic, sirens, and helicopters. I'm more of relax in nature kind of girl myself. I think my ideal place to live would be in a wooded area, but within 45 - 60 min of a larger city with all kinds of cultural opportunities. Sigh. But DH is a big city boy, and he does worse living in small towns than I do living in big cities, so I think we'll always be in a community of at least 250,000.

Ladies- Ok. I'm totally lazy- can you post links to your blogs again? Ihave decided to start one, but I want to take a peek and see how other people are doing them, and see what host sites you guys are using. Pleeeease? :)

my blog is at http://www.bethanys-reflections.blogspot.com/ Anyone that wants to link it is welcome to... :goodvibes Oh, and Vaylie with thos pacifiers? HYSTERICAL!! :rotfl2:

Question of the Day: Is your baby left handed or right handed...and when were you sure which hand they would be?

No signs of Owen showing any preferences yet, although DMIL gets a little wound up everytime she thinks he's showing signs of being a lefty. She says it doesn't matter which one it is, but she is from the era when they taught kids to be right handed, and she was a kindergarten/1st grade teacher during that time. Honestly, it's way to early to tell with Owen, but DMIL always tries to encourage him to use his right hand over his left. DH and I try to balance that out at home - I think it would be cool if he were ambidextrous! Plus I'd like him to play at least one instrument, and it's best if he can use both hands well for that.

Bethany - the drumming sounds cool! The only drums I get to hear around here are from our next door neighbors son, who wants to be a rock star...

Jen, I had a neighbor like that when I was in grad school! :rotfl2: Oh, it would get so annoying! I swear he only knew one or two riffs, and he'd just play the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over... And he always seemed to practice when I was trying to sleep.

Hey Ladies! I took Amanda Joy in today for her 6 month pictures.

AJpicturepeople4-1.jpg

I love the toe grabbing! That's so cute!!

I'm feeling "homesick" for WDW. :sad1: It's been 3 years since my last visit, and there's no future trip on the horizon. DH doesn't like Disney vacations (horrifying, I know :scared1: ), so it takes a lot of persuasion to get him to go. I know that I need to be the one to pay for the trip if I want to go again, so I'm saving and saving and saving...but it's taking a long time to have all the money for it. DH used to say that he wasn't going back to WDW for the next trip, but now that Owen is here, I think he actually does want to go to see Owen's reaction! ;) So we'll see if I can persuade him to spend part of the family travel budget on a Disney trip in the next few years. But I'm guessing it will be 2-3 years before he'd be willing to go. But maybe Owen and I can tag along with some friends on a Disneyland trip in a year or so. Sigh. Still, it feels like a loooong wait to get my Disney vacation fix!
