We already have a couple movies under our belt..Right now he is playing Star Wars Clone Wars Video Game..then up next The Lion King

:rotfl:

I haven't introduced video games, not sure I will since I won't play them. But I have a good stock of movies.

Speaking of Star Wars, did you get the latest Lego Club magazine, it has a little article about the Star Wars mini land in Legoland California?

I'm kind of surprise that you don't have video games Matt. It does make sense for some families don't want kids to spend a lot of time on the games.

That must be neat to see a Star Wars Lego Land.

*Sorry for the early comments on affording video games.

When I was little I was the only one in my neighborhood with a computer even though we lived in a nice neighborhood. No kidding on this. My dad was into them. He helped design the factory in Cupertino that the first Mac was made in. So I could barely do anything on that computer except draw and play some math games and a couple very simple games.

Then the Nitendo came out several years later and every kid had one except me. I had the computer as I was told should be fine for me. So I really only played games at friends houses.

While I didn't understand at the time, the computer we had cost a lot of money. Cars could be had for under $1000, flights from the bay area to LA for $25.

In college though was were I mostly played games. People had Nitendo Game Cube, Gensis and then Play Station. But then Windows 95 came out and tons of people suddenly had PCs too. So I played some early computer games.

But it never really stuck for me. Most of my free time in college was spent playing on sports teams and building/driving race cars. And then when it got dark, drinking. When I had time to myself I usually did two things. Watched the simpsons, or studied business. Had an awesome used book store nearby where all the books were 35 or 50 cents if it wasn't a current text book. But they allowed trades so it has a broad collection of books.

So post college every now and then I would get a computer games. The $5 old has been kind. Play it for a month and that would be it.

I'm not sure DS will need video games or computer games. He's got a bike and a couple sleds, and skis, and a wagon........and when he comes inside lots of books, legos and about 30 movies.

My DH is a gamer but I never wanted them for my kids. Kari & Nathan became gamers anyway. I was always one who said video games are what got this country fat :rotfl: Too much sitting doing nothing when as kids they should be outside playing and doing. Well Colton has never given up outdoor time or creative time like Legos or Music etc for video games. So we got a Wii which kills the one thing I hated about video games because I tell you what some of those games are a workout...we mostly use them on rainy days or sick days in the summer but it did get a little more play this last winter as much of the time it was too cold to do any more outside than you had to really. He has asked for a handheld but I won't do it not yet anyway when he is out of the house he should be doing something not sitting with his "little version"

I once saw an interesting comment that has to do with video games in a sort of way.

If you had seen the investor conference earlier this year, Iger refers to smart phone use for reservations. Not just that but getting alerts in the park about happenings. Possibly stuff like reminders on parade times....If was a very general comment that led to lots of speculation.

Away the comment was about WDW and it's extravagent queues. Why spend so much money on the theming of a line when everyone is staring at thier phone. Texting people, tweeting and playing farmville. People are spending most of their vacation, playing on thier phones.

to me...a vacation means...unplugged...of course we will have our phones but it is in case we get lost in the park and are trying to find each other - lol.

I start my new job tomorrow and found out tonite that my new computer shipped today. I was told that it would be delayed once again and wouldn't be arriving until May 26th then tonite I get an email saying that it has been shipped. :cool1:

So my Tuesday has ended on a good note.

Hope everyone has a great Hump Day!!!

oh yea...only 31 days and counting to DL!!!!!!

June is getting so close!

Good to here on the new computer. Do things seem to get shipped to AK slow?

in a way it does. If Fedex ships it next day/overnite, it takes two days to get here. So my computer shipped today and is supposed to delivered on Thursday, 5/12. It is being shipped via next day. lol

I argued with one person who was in Texas and they said that I would get the package the next day (overnite). I said, great but I really will get it in 2 days time. They said "no, you paid for over-nite, so you will get it tomorrow" and I said no, I will actually get it in two days. They continued to argue so I just agreed with them but I knew better. :rotfl2:

I won't be able to play with it much though until Friday, because Thursday is my daughter's B-Day and she turns 18 so we are going out to dinner to celebrate. :)

I spend a lot of time on my smart phone when I am just waiting in line or for a nighttime event. It does kill some of my time while I am waiting and more and more people just keep going on the phones. We do see a lot of people spend a lot of their time on the phones and doing activities on it. The wait time app does help a lot to see what the lines are.

Hows everyone doing today? Man I got a headache today with a lot of young kids going wild today.

Why so many kids? And why are you feeding them Mountain Dew?

You know that I play Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG game which I like to do while I am away from my CPU and Disney. I was running a yu-gi-oh tournament today and a lot of young kids and teenagers were just talking so loud and were running around. I think these young kids and teenagers just drink too much just like you said Matt. :rotfl2: It was nothing, but I have to deal with them tomorrow and maybe this time they will behave better. I doubt it, but we'll see.

No, at a Hobby Store. It sells sport cards, trading cards, comics, etc. I work at this store with a friend and was running the tournament. It was just annoying all day when they just keep shouting out loud and even cursing.

So is this like a promotion? The store hosts the tournament to bring people in who buy their cards there.

Something like that, kids, teenagers and even adults come to the store and play in these tournaments to win prizes, buy stuff and trade with other people. Sometimes they just come in the store and just play and play. I don't like to babysit people while they don't even spend money in the store and expect great treatment. We are trying to bring people in the store and play in these tournaments.

My husband works part time in the evening at a Hobby Shop here in Anchorage. He does it because he is a RC Plane Flyer and he loves being able to get paid for something he loves talking about. Alot of the guys who work there are into Warhammer, and they will have tournaments. They really do get serious about it.

Do they drink beer at those tournaments?
