The New Lizard Lounge

Gee, minniesota... what a nice job you did of mingling about the room!... and you even catered! :teeth: Some of you are just so creative with your spreads... I bow to your formidable hostessing skills! :worship: BTW... Best wishes on your anniversary and enjoy your lovely gift from your honey! We share a special date, though I must say I'm getting dangerously close to that half century mark... Nobody reminded me of THAT of course! :teeth: But heck, it'll give me all the more reason to plan a really awesome celebration when the time does come! ;) :cool1:

Hugs to all with ailing and/or recovering family and friends... :grouphug:

steveanddonna - I would imagine you'll be getting our blustery weather tomorrow. Geez, I'm sure we had a wind chill factor today but our weather forecasters refuse to post it after April 1! May is not that far off - I hope your projects are wrapped up so you can really kick back at the Poly. But let's face it - anytime you're in WDW, it's hard not to be totally immersed in the magic. I hope our paths cross - it would be fun to meet you.

Thanks a lot, but we already had our blusters on Saturday, complete with snow flurries. It's been perfect November weather since - gray, damp, 40's-50's. Yes, Florida is sounding better by the minute!

GoofyJoofy nice to see you around the Lounge. Hope you can stay a while.

lovesdumbo continued prayers & PD. This all must be so difficult for your Mom and your family. My own mom battled antibiotic-induced colitis twice, once due to a less-than-ideal standard of care in the hospital. I'm glad your mom is in a facility you you feel good about. Pamper yourself in whatever way you can, even if it can't be with a Disney trip right now. You can still have those Disney dreams to help you unwind.

The last of my plans are in place for May (except for the details of bumping into minniesota and floridafam!) and I have to say that Poly IPO has been wonderful this time. I was able to work with one planner consistently, and this made things a lot less confusing and streamlined. Now I just have to get through the 2+ weeks of waiting!

Leaving out a nice veggie strata with coffee and orange-guava juice; those of us in northern climes still need some hearty food to get through our chilly days.

Donna, you can say that again. Seems like the nice spring was just a teaser, and late fall weather has moved in. We'll probably go right into Hot Humid summer weather next. :confused3

I haven't visited in quite some time. hello to everyone! I will be going to WDW on May 19th with 2 friends from home to meet all of my LL buddies. This trip I am at AKL. I feel very disloyal to my friends at the BW, but Jackie assured me I will love the AKL!! Looking forward to going and relaxing.
Lovesdumbo, I sent you a PM. I am praying for your mother. I have been a patient at BI many times. The care was wonderful.

Hey, KerryCM... Good to "see" you! ;) Enjoy your trip to AKL! So many of you have such wonderful trips planned for May. I keep stashing away all the wonderful ideas on places to stay and things to do for when that right moment comes along... :cool1:

DD13 had her first of 10 cheerleading tryout practice sessions last night at her "new school". Came home VERY excited... everyone is SO nice, it was SO much fun, etc, etc. We were needing that concrete bridge to the future. It's not easy being the one to strike out on a different path than all of her current friends, but I think she's seeing that things might just turn out all right afterall! ;)

Happy Tuesday to all... grabbing a tall capp on my way out... :drinking1

Just stopping in to say hi. As we Boston folks like to say, I've been wicked busy. My family was in a club skating show this weekend to benefit Childrens Hospital and the Make a Wish foundation and we have just been running ragged for almost the entire month of April. It was an amazing show and anyone in the Massachusetts area who has Comcast can actually see it on TV. They're airing the program this Sunday at 9pm, 5/14 at 4pm and 5/28 at 8pm on CN8. DH, DS and DD were all in some of the numbers, while I was working backstage.

GoofysMuse, just some words of encouragement for your DD. Both my oldest DD and DS struck out on their own, away from close friends. Neither has any regrets and while they remain close to their "town" friends, I watched them build lasting relationships with their new friends. Best of luck with her cheering tryouts. My youngest DD is so excited that a local cheer club is starting a junior cheer dance troupe in the fall. I have no idea how I'm going to fit everything in.

KerryCM, is this one of the infamous LL meets? Have a great time and let us know what you think of the AKL. Say hello to everyone.

For everyone else on their way to WDW, have a great time and P and PD for those in need.

Anticipation is half the fun--dreaming of spending those warm evenings lounging around the beach with a frozen lava flow! Heck, lounging around the pool midday with a frozen lava flow. . .I'll be on vacation!

I totally agree with you, Tess! Anticipation and planning really is half the fun. I told my husband that if he ever wants to surprise me with a trip to WDW, he had better reveal the surprise in time for me to still make PS’s, make plans, etc. He just laughed at me—he knows what a compulsive planner I am, LOL! :teeth:

lovesdumbo, I am glad to hear that your mother is getting really top quality medical care now. I am so sorry she is having to go through all this.

Donna, thanks for the beignets!

Only 11 days to go—woo hoo!!!

Room wave to all the lizards—the Goofys, Tammi, Kerry, minniesota, Angel, Steph, Debbie, Suzanne, and everyone else!

LOL, EAD--you sound just like me!

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been working on other things (What? There's something important in my life OTHER than Disney?! Egads!). ;) I write fiction for fun and my story has grabbed ahold of me and won't let go, so I spent the weekend inside (it was cold and rainy anyway), writing away.

More cold yuckiness out there today, so Disney is looking good right now. I agree with those who said that it looks like spring gave us a teaser and then flew out the back door. :cold:

Hugs to all--I'm living vicariously through those of you going this month!

Cappuccinos and biscotti, anyone? I have both chocolate and almond biscotti if you're interested. :)

Mmmm... and they're still fresh, too. Thanks, Steph H! Just got finished making "Besitos de Merengue" with DS10. His Spanish class is celebrating Cinco de Mayo tomorrow and he gets "extra effort credits" for bringing in a goodie to share. We made extra for the lounge for the brave of heart! :teeth: Actually they smell like chocolate and cinnamon so how bad could that be! ;)

Second cheerleading run of the week... Thanks for the encouragement, TammiMcMan... and also for the chuckle... it was WICKED funny to read that word on the DIS! :rotfl: I'm lucky that the practice sessions are at a place only half the full distance to the school -- 15 minutes is within my do-able range. Turns out that there are a few other girls from our town, so it looks like carpooling will be an option afterall. :cheer2:

I'm remembering back to a time when one or more Lizards warned me that my kids might come to view Disney in December as a family tradition. :rolleyes1 Well... it seems my kids are VERY anxious to go back... in the winter though!!! Summer was HOT and as I've floated the potential of a summer trip they've been more interested in talking about northerly places as a vacation alternative. So... I've been researching Niagara Falls of late. I know we've got a lot of worldy travelers who pop into the lounge from time to time, so if anyone has any thoughts to share on Niagara I'd appreciate it (e.g., recommendations on where to stay, good places to eat, not-to-miss attractions along with skip-these, etc).

:moped: Gotta run... waving back to ead79 and everyone else too... :wave2:

*wanted to run in, wave hello, and leave out some warm cookies and milk* Have a great week lizards!

Good morning, lizards!

Gosh, I think the temp reached 67 here yesterday! It's amazing what a little warm weather will do - I saw so many people out walking, running, biking and smiling. Let's hope it continues and we have a nice weekend for all the moms. DH is going on a golf outing but says he's coming home late Sat. night to help the kids with a celebration of sorts. I'm actually hosting a big birthday party for my aunt (the one I moved to assisted living) at my house later Sunday afternoon. She is so excited!

Goofy'sMuse- Yet another parallel universe - my DD just went through dance team tryouts at her new high school - though only 3 nights - and she made it. I did have to drive the entire distance but we also found three local girls to carpool with. DD is also breaking out on her own and is making some really mature decisions. Makes a mom proud.

Tammi - I read your encouraging words with interest - thanks for the perspective.

KerryCM - Nice to see you. Your May trip sounds like a lot of fun. Let us know what you think of AKL - I still think we might try it sometime. Who knows - maybe our paths will cross in May!

#1hockeymom - You teachers really have your hands full in May(hem) - try to keep your head above water!

DD and I leave in 2 weeks - yikes! We are really getting excited though we can't talk about it much around DS11 (even though he and I had a special trip in Feb.!) Whenever we bring up our trip in May, he pouts and says it's not fair...until he remembers he and his dad are heading to Milwaukee for a Twins game the same weekend. AH, the youngest child...

Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to all of you and yours and let's hope that jet stream keeps moving in the right direction. I've got gardening to do!

Sounds like a great LL meet is coming up this month.

To all that are going, have a wonderful time. Say a big "Hi" to everyone.

Yes DD is getting more excited about the new school, now that she has met the cheerleaders and coaches. Mid-May we all get to go and hear about other extracurricular activites. She is considering the performance arts group.

With cheering getting ready for the September football season, and the performance group getting ready for a musical at the end of September, we all should have an interesting summer. :rotfl: :confused3

Hello everyone! I’m single digit dancin’ now! :dancer:

I hope all the lizard mothers have a Happy Mothers’ Day!!!

Thank you for all of the kind "teacher" comments! Yes, it has been crazy around here, but worth it!

Oh, the dance team/cheerleader stuff is bringing back memories! DD was a cheerleader from 6th grade on. I miss it now! One day, I'll be missing hockey practice, too!

Happy Mothers day all lizard moms! IT IS FRIDAY! WOOO HOOO!

Debbie

Well, I know I have not been in the Lizard Lunge forever but I just want to say a big "hi" to everyone!! Hope all is well with everyone. I will try to get on here more often so I can stay in the loop. We ended up choosing Boardwalk Deluxe Concierge for our trip this year and I am so excited. You were all right about the wonderful planners. We don't arrive until Nov 27th and they are already planning for me!! Take care everyone!

Just popped in to leave some treats for all the moms in the lounge. A Cinderella Slipper for everyone--decadent I know, but c'mon, we deserve it. We might as well break out the champagne too! Let's all grab a hammock on the beach and watch the castle this a.m.--whaddaya think? Sunshine and 80s all day. . .sounds like heaven on Mother's Day to me!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! :goodvibes :flower: :sunny:

Hammock, 80 degrees, sunshine, castle... I'm there! Happy Mother's Day!

Hi everyone :wave2:

I am hoping that some of you can give me ideas for surprises, for my teen DSs. Older DS is 17 and plays the drums, younger DS is 14 and plays bass guitar and trumpet.

So far, for DH, I have a small "wedding" cake being delivered as a surprise after our dinner at 'Ohana on the evening of our anniversary. I also have ordered the gold Mickey ears for each of us, with our names embroidered on them. DSs won't really be thrilled with the hats, but I want them as a commemoration of our trip during the 50th anniversary celebration.

Any other ideas?? :) Thanks!

P.S. We;ll be at the Wilderness Lodge concierge and then the Polynesian concierge.

Hello to all my fellow Lizards! Sorry I missed the Cinderella slippers yesterday. . .I think I'll hunt around in the back to see if there were any leftovers. ;)

It's a beautiful day here in Michigan--upper 70s and sunny! The warmer weather is making me think of Florida. . . only 144 days 23 hrs. 21 mins. 33 secs to go. Waaaaaaah.

Hope everyone had a nice Mother's day. My son was being very naughty, but I did have a nice day with my mommy. And when I gave her a gift, she gave ME a sweet card--with money in it! That's a great mommy! :teeth:

Enjoy your day everyone. For those of you in single digits---here's a green bouncy :bounce: to show that while I'm happy for you, I'm also envious!
