The New Lizard Lounge

Angel-
Can I marry your husband???? WOW! I think I'd fall right on the floor if my DH ever said those words to me. How fun!! ANd what a trip - 2 great spots.
I'm so jealous - please keep us posted as you make all your plans. Once my May trip is complete, I have no WDW trips on the horizon. Boo hoo...

Minniesota- I was pretty amazed myself. Could it be all the work they have been doing on his head lately? :flower: He is a pretty great guy.

Tell me about your May trip. I have to make it past May with the help all of you sharing your trips. We were to be there for the meet. But it was much more important to get my guy through the surgery and on his feet. So where are you staying? How long? What all are you going to do.

I so enjoyed Donna talking about all the plans for the meet. I will be thinking of everyone and sending pd and wishes for magic.

Angel

Angel - By the way, I'm so glad your DH is doing well. Sounds like you guys need a very special trip!

My trip in May is a special mom and daughter trip. She's entering high school in the fall and I told her we could take a special trip this spring or summer and asked where she would like to go. Disneyworld! She's her mother's daughter I guess. We are staying at the GF, our favorite. It's the first Disney hotel she stayed at (when she was 4) and while we have tried several others (YC, BC, WLV, BCV, BWI and the Poly), she always wants to go back to the GF. Again, her mother's daughter!

I wasn't really aware of the meet until a couple of months ago and since this is really a special trip for us, I don't think I will be participating in any of the planned events. When I mentioned the possibility of meeting up with some DISers, she looked a bit horrified and said, "Mom these people are complete strangers!" LOL! Anyway, we have a pretty full agenda and so I may only get to slip out for a quick cocktail with a couple of Lizards.

Our dining plans include Citricos, GF Cafe, Plaza, Mama Melrose, Spoodles, Kona Cafe and GF tea. We've also planned a couple of spa treatments at the GF, room service for breakfast and just generally acting like a couple of princesses! We plan to concentrate our park touring at MK and MGM, DD's favorites. After all this activity and stress of caring for my aunt, a poolside lounger sounds perfect!

Sounds like a great trip is planned! Yes, put me in line to marry your DH! :) If you'll be there early October you'll be there for MNSSHP! We loved being there last year!

AP's Burning A Hole In My Wallet I booked a trip today for late September into early October for 6 nights at the Poly, lagoon/concierge, then 7 nights at AKL concierge. We are going to celebrate our anniversary and DH birthday! :Pinkbounc :rockband: :dancer:

Angel

Angel, that's fantastic! I think we'll be there at the same time. I'll be at GF from October 1-8. When is DH's birthday? We'll be there for my birthday, which is 10/4. I can't wait! I'm sure you'll both have a great time, too!

My SIL told me that MNSSHP will be going on while we're there. . .what do you think about it for a 3 1/2 year old? Will it be fun? Too crowded? Advice appreciated.

Chocolate-carmel pecan tarts, anyone? ;)

Hi everyone

I was directed over to this board by a few members. I am excited to say that in 5 days I will be checking into Poly concierge!! This will be my first concierge visit, actually even first Poly stay. DH has last minute business in Orlando and asked if 3 yr old DD and I would like to join him for a mini vacation. :cool1: I just booked yesterday and then DH called back and upgraded us to concierge. He says he feels better with us there when he will be away for a day or so in downtown. I asked him how many years I would have to make this up to him :rotfl: We are checking in Friday and stayig 5 nights. I even got Ohana's ressies at 7:40 our last night there!! This will be our shortest countdown EVER and we haven't even told dd yet. Probably will let her know tomorrow.

Well just wanted to say hello - I will be checking lots of posts on poly concierge, now where is that search forum icon??? :teeth:

Welcome Suzanne74 We are very happy to have your join us. We have a lot of fun here and enjoy sharing thoughts, ideas and just being friends.

What a wonderful suprise you DH has for you in Poly CL. I understand that is one of the very best concierge at WDW. As for myself, I have stayed at the Poly twice but it was back in the mid 70's before all the wonderful additions. I was so young I didn't even know if they had concierge. :)

We are looking forward to staying there this September and will try out the concierge level. :cool1:

I hope you have wonderful trip. With the thoughtful husband you have I am sure your vacation will be a dream

I am sure some of the other lizards will drop in and share their experiences with Poly CL. Again, welcome, sit down and enjoy a cup of Kona coffee and a bit of warm pinapple coffee cake. I just finished puting it out for all the lounge to enjoy.

Anyone other that can help Suzanne get excited about her trip?

EAD79 How is your new job? I hope you are happy and enjoy working there. Your Disney trip is not far off at all. Where are you staying?

Angel, I made it into the teens today! Only 19 days until the World! We’ll be staying at Port Orleans Riverside (my first time at a moderate—I’ve only done value and deluxe before), and we’re excited. It’s not concierge, but I think we’ll have a blast. I plan to take a walk over to Port Orleans French Quarter for some of their famous beignets. :hungry:

My job is going very, very well thanks. My boss (he was such a mean spirited person) was asked to leave the company, and things have improved greatly ever since. I enjoy the people I work with and I like the work I do for the most part. I feel so blessed that my job situation has improved so much. I thought I was going to have to start looking really hard for a new job, but now I don’t. Thank goodness—I hate job searches with all the stress that goes along with them.

Suzanne74, welcome to the lizard lounge! 5 days is definitely one short countdown, LOL! You’re going to love Poly CL. We’ve stayed there 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves each and every time. The lounge is a great place to relax and “castle gaze” out the window. Plus, the food offerings are delicious! Be sure to check out the neat little “animals” Chef Dick makes out of fruits. They are too cool. Mmm, I can almost taste that delicious guava juice too. :)

Yes my countdown is short - I don't know how I am going to go back to the regular countdowns after this. Heck, I don't even know if I will be able to go back to standard room after concierge. :teeth:

I am already impressed with concierge. We received an email itinerary of all of our requests yesterday, literally less then 24hrs after we booked and sent an email to them. I put in a request for 1st floor with 3rd floor as our alternative. DH wants 1st floor, I want the 3rd floor view and balcony but since DH upgraded us to concierge, I guess I will give him, his choice :goodvibes

I was thinking of requesting a room close to the lounge - have others done this, is is noisy?

I will be reporting back soon - I am sure we will have a blast. I have heard nothing but wonderful things with poly concierge

Suzanne: I'm so jealous of your short countdown. It sounds like so much fun! Welcome! I can't wait to hear about your stay when you get back.

Back to my grueling countdown of: 158 days 21 hrs. 12 mins. 2 secs. It moves sooooo slooooooow. ;)

We had four inches of snow here in my part of the world yesterday. Eek! Deb, I'll bet you all got a ton up where you live! What I want to know is. . .what happened to spring?!?!

Pass me some of that Kona coffee, please. Can I get mine with a little added kick? ;)

Minniesota - Wow, your mom & daughter trip sounds wonderful. This such a special time for you and your daughter. The bonding that happens now and the next few years will last a lifetime  That was/is my experience with my girls. I am so happy for you. You deserve a restful relaxing, and fun get away :flower3:

StephH Your chocolate carmel tarts were Wonderful! Thank you
My DH's birthday is September 30th. We arrive on the 24th at Poly, change over to AKL on the 30th. Guess we can celebrate at both resorts. :) We depart on Oct 7th. Maybe we can meet for a drink?

I have never beem to MNSSHP so I can't help you with that. But #1Hockey Mom has and said she enjoyed it. Maybe we can get her to tell us about her visit and the crowds.

EAD- Woo Hoo - only 19 days to go :thewave: ! And your staying at a new resort. That is always fun. New and different things to see and do. I am so happy for you that you like your job. Life is too short to not enjoy what we do for eight hours a day. Besides we spend more waking hours with our co-workers than our family. I am looking forward to you telling all about your trip and POR. You certainly will have a wonderful time

Angel

Ok...whats going on? I just posted an nice long one. Talking to everyone and it is gone. :badpc:

I will try and get back later. But I especially wanted to thank StephH for the chocolate, carmel pecan tarts. They were a perfect Friday afternoon goodie.

I can see the post Angel. . . :confused3 :confused3

A big :wave2: to all of you--haven't been around much, but I'm at least able to keep up on the reading!

I'm so jealous of Suzanne74! What a short counter! Gotta' keep that man around--they are few and far between. Thankfully, I've got one of that type myself!

We're creeping closer to our return to Polynesian heaven! :cheer2:  Anticipation is half the fun--dreaming of spending those warm evenings lounging around the beach with a frozen lava flow! Heck, lounging around the pool midday with a frozen lava flow. . .I'll be on vacation! The kids are nearly finished with school--only 23.5 days until the end! We're very busy doing the college elimination thing. We hope to have it down to a handful by the end of May and can then focus over the summer on the big choice and pray for acceptance. I can't believe my baby is going to be a senior next year! :faint:

Oh well, one thing at a time--I still have a bit of planning for Polynesian to do! :cool1: Denial is a wonderful thing and Disney provides a great distraction! ;)

Hope everyone is well, on the mend, enjoying their new babes, having a great spring, and planning for a spectacular vacation. . .that about covers it I guess! :wave2: :grouphug:

Just stopping in for a quick :wave2: ... Barely enough time to read lately let alone post, but I'm glad so many of you have trips lined up and are not too shy about sharing the details! :teeth:

minniesota... :rotfl: This was me reading your post... our DDs must be cut from the same cloth! I think you used the word "horrified"... yes, my DD is horrified that I even post regularly to an Internet forum... the thought of actually meeting other real-live Disney lovers met through the Internet would make her :scared1: :faint: . Enjoy your time with your daughter!

Suzanne74... Welcome AND Bon Voyage!

And to all the "May meet lizards" (you know who you are... ;) )... Have an awesome trip! If you run out of things to celebrate (not likely! LOL), feel free to toast the Goofys who will be celebrating their 22nd during the same week in lovely Mass. We're so glad we took the time to do it up last year... maybe again sometime... Had another reminder today of how short life really is at the funeral of a friend in town who's left 2 young daughters. Made me realize how lucky we are even without a trip on the horizon...

Suzanne, first of all, WELCOME to the lounge. Hope you'll enjoy both the info and the cameraderie here. The Poly CL lounge is on the 2nd floor of the Hawaii building, so noise would not be a problem on the 1st or 3rd floors. However, there would probably be a lot of foot traffic on the 1st floor on the end nearest the main entrance and concierge office. We have stayed in the 1st floor room just 2 away from the office and were not bothered by any noise or traffic, though. Enjoy your stay!

GoofysMuse - condolences on the loss of your friend. You are so right about appreciating what we have. As JOni Mitchell sang, "don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone..."

Leaving out coffee and beignets (especially for EAD79) and a big platter of fresh pineapple to start the morning.

Thanks to all for the kind words and prayers. We were able to transfer my Mom on Friday to Beth Israel Hospital. The disparity in care is unbelievable! The other hospital nearly killed her. She was operated on on Sunday and they removed her large intestine, colon and gall bladder. She's got a long road of recovery ahead of her but now she's getting good care.

I nearly bought the tickets for Disney but then my travel partner realized that she already had a business trip planned for those dates. So now we are planning on something closer to home-maybe even just a day trip to the outlets. Any break will be welcome. And I will be at the Poly in just 170 days.

Suzanne-you will love the Poly with your DD! I first went to Poly when my DD was 3 1/2. She really loved the Poly-especially walking around at night. She loved the music. I was 6 months pregnant at the time and requested a 2nd floor room close the lounge. We were in the very first room next to the lounge on the lagoon side and NEVER heard any lounge noise. I'm not sure if the Garden View side would have elevator noise or not. The lounge has milk in large containers in the morning but at other times of the day you need to request it from the staff. They keep the milk, chocolate milk and juice boxes in the fridge in the back so they don't get soggy sitting on ice. We LOVE the convenience of the lounge with small children and my kids loved the lounge-they never wanted to eat anywhere else. I think they liked the kid size furniture and the TV. The Poly is so relaxing. I'm sure you'll have a very magical trip.

Angel-what a great trip you have planned!

Just thought I would drop by and say a quick Hi to all my old friends and welcome all the new friends.

This is a very friendly group with lots of advice.

Hope everyone is doing well.

P and PD for all those going through tough times.

I see it too, Angel! So glad you enjoyed the tarts. . .mmmm. And yes, we'll definitely have to find time to have a drink together. I'm so excited that I might get to meet a DIS friend while I'm there! Woo hoo!!

Hugs to everyone else, especially LovesDumbo--hope your mom gets better soon!

It's a wet rainy afternoon here in Michigan. Yuck! Bring on the Florida sun. Only 157 days 20 hrs. 9 mins. 34 secs. Waaaaaaah.

:scratchin Yes. I see it too! But honestly it was not there yesterday after I finished posting. From what I have read the boards were very slow yesterday. Which I am sure we all expericenced. So I assume my note went into cyber space somewhere for a few minutes then popped back to where it should have been. :confused3

]Lovesdumbo This has to be very hard for you. I want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am very familiar with Beth Israel; it has wonderful staff and a super repetition. Stay strong, get as much rest as possible and take good care of yourself.

Goofy Muse I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. Life is short and we have to share all the love and good times we have while we are here.

Steveanddonna - Thank you for the breakfast goodies. I was reading in one of our medical journals and they recently did a study on pineapple. They have found out if you eat fresh pineapple everyday for two weeks prior to surgery the healing time is shorten. Just another good reason to have that fresh pinneapple and visit the Poly. ::yes::

Tess - Great to see you. I have missed seeing you around. It is not too much longer before you will be leaving for the Poly. I can’t wait till we check-in and can enjoy all the wonders you have been telling me about.

Steph - Ok it’s a date. Just have to chose a day and place.

Hope everyone has a good evening! :grouphug:

Angel

Good evening lizards!

It's cold and blustery in Minnesota today - even snowflakes in the air though no accumulation like some of you have had. I think I'll put out some Jalapeno Shrimp Appetizers and Ridge Zinfandel...enjoy!

Angel16 - Please tell me all about Napa Valley Camus wine! California wine country is on my vacation to-do list!

lovesdumbo - Continued prayers to you and your family. Good medical care can mean all the difference - I hope things are going better.

Goofy'sMuse - Yes, I think we've decided our daughters are from the same planet in many respects. She finds out tonight if she makes the high school dance team - just a little stress in our household the past three nights. She has a competition tomorrow for her studio and she is so sore, she looks like she's been on a horse for a week! Happy upcoming 22nd! DH and I are celebrating 15 years today and I got some serious bling - a three stone diamond ring. Woo-hoo!

GoofyJoofy - Good to see you in the lounge - I've missed your insight. Happy 22nd to you as well - time sure flies, doesn't it?

Suzanne74 - Welcome and wow! I envy your counter - you should be packing about now. Enjoy concierge and have fun - we really enjoyed Ohana last October!

Tess - Nice to see you too. Keep those Disney dreams alive - the planning is half the joy.

ead79 - More counter envy. Have an awesome time - it seems like you deserve a nice break from reality...

hockeymom - Good luck with the whole contract stuff. I have several friends in education and this time of year is always up in the air for them. I hope things land in a good place for you.

StephH - Keep on dreaming about that Oct. vacation at the awesome GF. I've been there 3 times during October and have loved it. We've done MNSSHP twice and it is a lot of fun. My kids were a bit older the first time we went (10 and 7) so they handled the late night just fine. Though we were out of the park by 10:30. There were lots of little ones, however, and the good news is they can sleep in the stroller if they tire out. I'd be glad to answer any specific questions you have.

steveanddonna - I would imagine you'll be getting our blustery weather tomorrow. Geez, I'm sure we had a wind chill factor today but our weather forecasters refuse to post it after April 1! May is not that far off - I hope your projects are wrapped up so you can really kick back at the Poly. But let's face it - anytime you're in WDW, it's hard not to be totally immersed in the magic. I hope our paths cross - it would be fun to meet you.

Well, hope I touched base with most of you. Life with my aunt has settled down considerably but as soon as I get comfortable, around the corner comes the month of May(hem)! Those of you with school-age kids know what I'm talkin' about. Pass the wine, please...
