The New Lizard Lounge

Thanks everyone! I know we'll have a terrific time - we've never been short on magic when we're in WDW!

We are in the magic and loving it as always! The weather is a little cool for DH, but it sure beats the temps back home. Rain or showers have been predicted every day, but so far we've had none. Low/no crowds (even Saturday) and lots of fun. "See" you all soon!

The weather wasn't perfect when we went down, either, but it was so much better than home! I think the rain kept the crowds down, so we were happy for it! Enjoy all of your time down there!

We're back! In spite of the weather forecasts, we only had showers one day, our last. We actually got wetter on Splash Mt. than from the rain. DH was wishing for warmer weather, but the 60's and low 70's we had there sure beat the weather here in Chicago!

It was another great trip. I am more and more impressed with Poly CL every time. The resort was pretty slow, so there was plenty of time to catch up with our Poly 'ohana. I am planning a real trip report, but I probably won't get to it before the weekend.

Sure am glad I still have one counter left!

Donna, glad to hear that you had a nice trip. I also like travelling in the slow season, makes a big difference. Looking forward to your trip report as I envy your counter :flower:

Thanks, Tammi; it really was a wonderful trip. We, too, have always made the slow season our special time at WDW. It seems that lately, though, there is less and less of an off-season, so it was nice to have a very quiet and laid-back visit to enjoy. It's become very hard to predict the busy factor as well; we saw heavier crowds on our early December trip than we did in early August, and our usual October time-frame has gotten much busier due to the Food & Wine Festival, MNSSHP, Funai Golf Classic...

The most important thing we've learned from multiple trips is to go with the flow. When the crowds have been larger, we've made our visit less about the parks and more about enjoying everything else WDW has to offer, including the terrific CMs and guests from all over the world. Where else do you have the opportunity to chat with so many different kinds of people from so many places who are nearly all in friendly, happy moods?

Good morning fellow LLs!

Looks like it's been a little quiet around here. Our trip to Cabo was great - we had beautiful weather and fabulous accommodations. The biggest decision every morning was "what time should we go to the pool" and "what drink should we order"! We tried lots of new restaurants and hit a couple of our favorites. The only negatives of the trip were a transportation strike that screwed up our plans on our last day and a case of food poisoning for my sister and me. Yuck! Don't ever want to do that again.

As you can see by my counter, I need to start packing again. DS-11 is so excited to be going to WDW with just mom! We don't have a lot of concrete plans - he only wants to do MK and Epcot. And of course enjoy hanging out at the GF! I haven't checked the weather yet so I better get on that and pack accordingly. Though I know to bring clothes for any kind of weather in Feb. Have never been at this time so should be interesting.

Hope all is well with all of you - and that you're happy with yesterday's big game. I LOVED the half-time show! Now that's music! Happy Monday, everyone!

Sounds like my kind of vacation, Minniesota! It would bore DH to tears, though. For him, sitting by the pool/beach is torture after about 30 min. That's why I love my solo mornings at WDW while he's golfing - time to relax, stroll, chat, read - my idea of heaven! Glad you had a good time and I hope your upcoming WDW trip is even better. At least you're not likely to get food poisoning!

Still working on my trip report. I think I should have just waited until after the second trip and combined them.

Welcome back... and bon voyage! Your trip sounds great, and I know you're going to love your mom and son trip! I think we have more fun on those trips than when everyone goes with us! NO argueing with his sister... she isn't there. No using mom/dad against each other to get what he wants... only my wallet is there... so my rules! You're going to have a great time!

Donna and Minniesota just keep racking up those frequent flyer miles, I love it! And even though I've had 4 Disney trips in the past 12 months, I'm still envious.

My counter looks so pathetic compared to you guys. Oh well, I take comfort in the fact that I'm at least planning another Disney trip and with 9 Disney newbies no less. I've got them all convinced to ditch the camper idea and go with Disney villas instead. I'm lurking over on the DVC board, trying to get a feel for how this renting points thing works. I decided to give the Boardwalk Villas a try and we're planning on staying there Sunday-Friday. Then it's every family for themselves. I think one DSis is going to try a FW Cabin and get their camping fix, other DSis wants to try out either the Allstars or Pop Century. We are more than likely going back to the RPC at the GF for a couple of nights.

Have fun, safe trips everyone.

Tammi

Thanks to all who are posting about their magical trips and plans! We have been severely under the weather here, both literally and figuratively... no time for DIS or anything else. If you haven't caught this flu yet... DON'T! Here's hoping for sunnier times ahead! :sunny:

Just ran in to say Happy Paczki Day!

I hope you feel better, Goofy family!

Please send some PD our way! DS has been home the past two days with this fever/cough virus and now I'm starting to ache and feel cruddy. We leave in a little over 48 hours. Yikes. Disney with the crud - that would be a new topic. I'll let you all know how it goes. Get better Goofy family and hockeymom, I'll bite - what the heck is Paczki Day?

Paczki, pronounced more like poonchkey is a Polish tradition for Fat Tuesday. Think of it as a giant heavy filled donut with more fat and calories than you can ever imagine. It tastes a lot better than a donut, also. Totally different recipe if done correctly. There is such a big Polish community in and around the Detroit metro area that in the past decade or so the event has totally taken off to every religion/nationality in the area. The best still come from Hamtramck, but you can get a decent paczki if you look hard enough!

Proud to be Polish,
Debbie

Sending lots of PD out for everyone with the crud! We had it last week, but it is no good for vacations! I hope you get better soon!

We devoured several paczkis each at our house yesterday! Thankfully, they aren't the GIANT variety we were used to in our former, very Polish, community! My husband's late grandfather was a Polish gentleman, Ratajczak! Brownie points to anyone who can properly pronounce that name! :) (Rat-a-zak, BTW)

Knock, Knock...

I was directed from "down the hall" and thought I might collapse over here somewhere with my orange fruit drink from check-in and listen a bit, if thats alright...

I guess you might say while downstairs, I could hear some of the exciting stories, trip reports and planning ideas (for about a year - the concierge desk was sort of busy), and sounded like a fun place to hang out a while.

Glad you stopped by, TheIncredibles!

LOL about the paczkis - VERY big deal here in Chicago, even if you're not Polish. My aunts' neighborhood has changed from predominantly Czech & Polish to predominantly Hispanic, but all the little Mexican bakeries sell paczkis!

I just got hit with the crud yesterday (after a flu & cold-free season) so I'm doing the vaporizer thing, drinking elderberry tea and sucking on my zinc lozenges. I'm counting on kicking this befoer we leave Tuesday, but I guess if I am still sick then, at least Poly concierge is not a bad place to have to rest and relax!

 BIG ROOM WAVE TO EVERYONE and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I have not fallen off the face of the earth, I just have been running all over with my one daughter and son-in-law, who have been visiting from Northern Wisconsin. I also have been putting in some insanely long hours at work, so I have not been on the boards in some time. I sure have missed all the trip planning, fun and friendship. Hope I will be able to check in more often.

Steve and Donna - have a wonderful trip. I noticed your counter and you are down to hours. Woo hoo Hope you are feeling great and ready to enjoy :cool1:

My exciting news:

Is we are expecting Schnauzer puppies any day. There should be four to eight puppies  I am leaning more toward the eight, momma is pretty big and there is a lot of movement.

Our other daughter is expecting a baby boy within the next three weeks. :cloud9: She had her ultra-sound done last week and the doctor said it is definitely a boy, and big. They think he is 7 pounds 10 ounces now and she had 4 weeks to go. I imagine they will want to induce before her due date.

And my final bit of exciting news is we leave for WDW and the Poly CL in less than 90 days. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day!

Angel

Howdy everyone and Happy Valentine's Day to You ALL!

I just wanted to check in and say hi - especially to those I don't see "elsewhere." I leave tomorrow afternoon for my surgery on Wednesday and I wanted to thank you all for the PD and prayers and friendships - they ALL mean a lot to me. I don't have access to a PC for about 6 weeks, so I'll be going thru major Disney withdrawal - so everybody write vivid trip reports - so I'll be able to catch up.

In case everything doesn't go as planned, I will see you all again - as to where, just visit the MK or Epcot and give a "shout out" to those of us who've chosen Disneyworld as our, ahem, final resting place! Hey, I walways wanted to live at Cinderella's Castle! Now I know what they mean when they say "be careful what you wish for....."

Bye for now.

Everything WILL go as planned! Much P and PD to you as you go through your surgery and recovery.

Love,
Debbie
