The New Lizard Lounge

mmausse... Here's to a speedy recovery! Think positive... I'll be visualizing you on your way to the World with your state-of-the-art legs! :moped:

:wave2: to Angel16... enjoy your new arrivals!

I know I've not been around much and then the site wouldn't let me post for a while...weird stuff and very frustrating.

Just giving a big warm "hello" hug to all. :grouphug:

I see Donna is having a blast on her girls only trip.

Angel16 - what great news! Congrats on the new grandbaby to come & those schnauzer puppies :cool1: ! Did I ever mention that mini-schnauzers are my absolute favorite breed? I was looking around contemplating getting a puppy, but I don't feel I have enough time right now for one. It makes me a little sad that I can't get one "right now," but I figure if I'm patient enough things have a way of working themselves out.

MMause - praying for a speedy recovery for you. I've missed you. I've missed everyone!! :guilty:

I'm going to be doing quite a bit of travelling in the next few months. Two personal trips and at least 4 business trips in the next 60 days. So I feel like I'm scatter brained most of the time. I'll try to touch base with you guys whenever I can. DH and I are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary next weekend in Charlottesville and then next month we are celebrating DH's birthday at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. We're pretty excited to have an opportunity to get away just each other then as a family. Plus, it helps get over our disney hump.

I've just now been able to e-mail all IPO's to put in my requests since I've been busy with work the last couple of weeks. I've been impressed with all the IPO's with their quick responses. Isn't this peak season for those folks down there? I wish I had more time to do my planning right now, but it's just not panning out. I was trying to keep up on the posts, but just haven't been able to do that either. I do miss each of you as well as reading about your moments whether funny, magical or otherwise. We have basketball practice tonight so I'll try to check back with you guys before leaving work today. I might be able to see your posts rather than post myself, but wanted to let you know I'm among the living.....

So VAGAL - are you going to Boar's Head Inn or perhaps Inn at Meander. I just took my parents and brother to the Meander last Friday for dinner - the food was good but it wook a little too long between courses. In any event HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and have a GREAT TIME.

Out now for the next month. Toodles!

LOL, MMause! You have it on the nose...Boar's Head Inn. DH wouldn't do a B & B with me since it's just not anoymous enough for his liking. However, he will be getting his first massage when we go to Boar's Head. If I didn't get my B & B, he's going to have to try something new so I have us signed up for a couples massage and dinner at Old Mill restaurant. We're heading to Monticello and Michie Tavern. I love antiquing and that's just a antique haven up there. I took an extra day off from work so we'll have time to slow down and enjoy it. We should've been going this weekend, but DS has one more basketball game that we didn't want to miss so I rescheduled. Yeah, and he thought he didn't have to the massage thing since I changed weekends - WRONG!

I really do wish you the very best for your recovery!

Hi fellow lizzies - I'm back... Had a fabulous time and am thinking Feb. is a great time to travel to WDW. The weather was great for the parks (low 70s) and the crowds were very manageable. I'm still unpacking and laundering (you know how it goes) but I posted on the resorts board (See link below) and I will add to the a couple of other boards as I find the time. Since I didn't stay concierge this time,I don't have much to offer on that topic. It was just me and DS11 so garden view (actually monorail view, much to his delight) was perfect this time. We missed the RPC, of course, but we managed to "suffer" through. LOL. We had a great time and now it's time to plan for my special mom and daughter trip in May. The princess is lobbying for RPC of course! We'll see what happens with AP discounts! Here's the link to the REsorts board thread:

I responded on your other thread too. I'm so glad you had a nice time and thanks for posting a positive report. I think people are quicker to post the negatives.

So, how many times did you enter the main buildings elevator and try to stick your key in :guilty: ? When we did our quick one-night stay in May, we opted for a garden room also and were in Conch Key. It was very nice and I like the fact that even with garden view, there is no chance you'll be looking out over a parking lot.

I think a lot of people don't realize that they can go to guest services at the resort and have dining arrangements done for them. I always thought it was a great benefit.

You'll have to let me know how the AP rates work out for you. Right now I have 4 nights set aside for the GF during our July 2006 vacation and 4 nights at the Boardwalk. If I can get a good rate, I'd love to go with only 3 nights at the Boardwalk and have 5 at the GF. I had mentioned that we were going to look into renting points and getting 3 villas for Sunday-Friday and then switching resorts for the last few nights. Well my sister decided that she can't possibly switch halfway through, so they are looking into all 9 nights in a FW cabin or renting a camper in Orlando and getting a campsite in FW. My DH is quietly doing the happy dance because he didn't want to stay in a villa anyway, he loves his concierge service. She's making me crazy and we still have a year and a half to go. The last time her and her husband were in WDW was back in the early 1990's. I think there were about 14 of us camping at Fort Wilderness with my parents. Well, she called me the other day to report that she found her husbands old safari hat from Epcot and that it was covered with pins. What do you think those things are worth right now?

MMausse, I was thinking of you the other day. Thanks for checking in and I wish you a very speedy recovery. Looking forward to seeing you walk back into the lounge.

Angel, congrats on the new additions. Hopefully ultrasound technology has improved so that they can better predict the baby's size. I thought they gained a pound a week in the last month before birth??? Yikes, that will be one big bouncing baby boy. Please keep us updated on all your impending births. Nothing better than puppies and babies.

Hi All! :wave2:

mmause-thinking of you today and over the next 6 weeks!

Angel-I've got to say that I had an ultrasound the day before my oldest was born (5 1/2 years ago) and they said she was 7 lbs 11 oz. She was really 6 lbs, 13 oz. Then I had an ultrasound the day before my youngest was born (2 years ago) and they said she was 7 lbs 13 oz. She was really 8 lbs 13 oz. My OB said he thought 2nd (or 3rd...) time mothers were better at estimating the baby's weight than the ultrasounds were. Here's hoping your DD has a very healthy baby and quick delivery.

*big wave to all*
I have been dealing with a death in the family so I have been very quiet, but I have been thinking of all of you!

Puppies and babies oh my! I have been smiling reading everyones' news! Thank you for the "good stories"!

I'm so sorry for your loss. :sad1:  It looks like we've all had our fair share of ups and downs here lately. Big ol' :grouphug: to us all. Debbie, we're here if you need someone to lend an ear or a shoulder to lean on

Debbie, my sympathies on your loss. Know we're all thinking of you and sending lots of :grouphug:

Well, the girls' trip was great, but the first thing DH said when I was giving him my "trip report" was "now I wanna go again!." My cousin had a wonderful time and a much needed rest and is definitely a Lounge Lizard in the making. She's as much in love with the orange-guava juice as her kids are with the monorail.

Debbie I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Take care of yourself
I am sick, sick, sick - as is DH. Just cold/sinus stuff but makes me realize how lucky we are when we're feeling good! :wizard:
Looking VERY forward to my trip in less than 5 weeks. DH said the other night that he'd like to join us for part of our 8-night stay. DD and I were shocked and elated. He "doesn't get it". Actually, he does but just in small doses...Of course, he claims he won't stay anywhere but GF. Right now it is booked. And we'll be at WL CL and BWI CL with DSIL and 2 DNieces...Maybe we'll find a suite somewhere for him :teeth:
Take care everyone and have a happy weekend!

Welcome back, Donna!!!! I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip.

Liz...just a little bit longer, hang in there! Find "HIM" a suite or find "YOU" a suite...c'mon, you're not fooling anyone on that one - LOL! :rotfl2:

I am completely GREEN with counter envy, but I keep saying July will be here before I know it. I really do have plenty to keep me busy until then, but sometimes I choose not to do those things so I can be disney focused.

I love "hearing" your fun details so I'm looking forward to trip reports. :listen: It gets me over my hump as well. :teeth:

Liz, l'd be really interested in your WL experience. DH and I want to return if only for just their sugar cookies in the lounge. I'm hoping to see some pics of their new lounge when it's completed, too. I know it's not suppose to be finished until May or so, but I've been imagining what it's going to look like. :3dglasses

Hi folks! I've been lurking around this thread for the last few days, trying to read it all before I posted but. . .duh! It's huge! ;)

Can I be a "lounge lizard" too? I'm headed to GF Concierge in the fall, and can't WAIT! I've already contacted the conceirge via email and fax four times and have had great response (not always what I wanted to hear, but always very fast and courteous). My first experience with conceirge anywhere was at the Waldorf Astoria in New York in March 2003, and I fell in LOVE with the whole concierge concept. If I have my way, I will never stay any other way again! :)

You all seem like great folks and I've enjoyed reading your stories and hearing about your lives (for as much of the thread as I've gotten through, anyway. . .). I hope to be a valued member of this thread. LOL, or at least, a member. :teeth:

Hockeymom, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my dad three weeks ago, and it is tough, but keeping the happy memories in the forefront of my mind helps most of the time. By the way, I think you and I live at the opposite ends of the Motor City. . .I'm three miles south of the "tri-county" area.

To the rest of you--hello! And hey, I don't come without gifts. . .may I offer you some of these delicious chocolate truffles and a cordial or two (sparkling grape juice for the expecting moms)? Might make a Monday afternoon a little more bearable. :)

Hi Steph and welcome to the lounge. We're happy to have you and no concierge experience is necessary. It's just a great place to hang out and chat. You mentioned "not hearing what you wanted to" from the GF concierge. Can you be more specific? One of us here might have had a similar experience and be able to guide you.

Angel16, any baby updates yet?

Tammi

Welcome Steph... and.. very sorry for your loss, also (hugs). Yes, you and I are on opposite sides of the city that goes on and on and on... I am actually up in the Holly/Grand Blanc area. Raised in the Detroit/Oakland county area I still know it better than I know Flint, and that is where I currently work!

PS to everyone else... .she's in the flat lands south of Detroit.. I am in the hilly lands north of Detroit... they both have cows!

Big wave to everyone, and I hope we all stay healthy through this flu season that just won't quit! I wish I were planning a concierge vacation, but until I finish the taxes I am not planning a thing!

Debbie

WELCOME, STEPH!!
...and thanks for the goodies! Sounds like you've got the hang of being a Lounge Lizard already. :wave2:

and fellow Michigander! :flower:  Hope you enjoy your visit to our lounge and, more to the point, your stay at GF! While I've had the pleasure of staying there, the Polynesian is the object of our affections. If you have questions I'm sure one of us will be able to help and are more than happy to do so. . .

To Debbie and our newest visitor--sympathies on your losses. . .not much else to be said. . . :sad1:

We are fast approaching the 100 day mark and double digits thereafter--the time has just flown by this year. I've got to get crackin' on the planning--it's just been so busy, busy, busy with winter sports x2 kids, the junior year college reviewing, senior year planning, etc. . .oy vey, my boy is nearly grown. . . :faint:

Pass those chocolates and pour a large cordial for me--it's been a loooonnnnggg winter! :cold:

Oh goody! A new lizard! Welcome, Steph! And you will love the GF!! It is the object of my affection. There are many of us who would be glad to answer any questions and offer lots of advice!

Hugs to Steph and Debbie - may your memories sustain you...

At the 90 day-ish mark so should be making my PS's for the mom and daughter trip to the GF. Any suggestions for my mature 13 year old? So far all I've gotten from her is Spoodles and spa treatments! It's a start...

I'm in a fiesta mood - I'm putting out spicy chips (Red Hot Blues), fresh guacamole and peach salsa. I know it's Lent but I'm also making up a batch of maragritas! Care to join me?

Well - I've changed our ressies from WL CL to Poly LV CL. Not sure why  But I am looking forward to trying the Poly for the first time ever :earsgirl: My DD(8) was not so sure until I showed her the Disney's Poly site and some pics from various other sites. (She's been to Poly many times for meals but LOVES the GF and WL.) But she loves the music on the Disney site and I reminded her about the tiki torch-lit paths plus all the ducks and the white sand beach... Something tells me this may become her all-time favorite princess:
Any tips on room requests? We will be traveling with DSIL (I'm surprising her w/ this resort change; she fell in love w/ the Poly last year over Spring Break when we had dinner at 'Ohana and watched Wishes from the beach...She won't know we're staying there until we pull up  !!) Will we automatically be in the Hawaii Longhouse? DNiece #2 is 2 years old. I was thinking a ground floor room might be really nice. But are the Lagoon views better from the 2d and 3d floors?
Thanks for any tips~
