The New Lizard Lounge

GoofyJoofy... Your last post was so well stated!!!! Glad to see you (and everyone else here in the lounge!!!

WOW...... I feel so out of the loop!!! I was away from the boards for a bit and came back to all this! I have no idea what happened!!! Nobody should feel responsible. We're all a well intentioned great group of people. I'll try to catch up today on all I've missed. It's very sad that it seems as though some lizards are feeling so upset.

VAgal.... I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself. I'll be thinking of you.

desiab!!!!!! princess: THREE of us in the lounge are pregnant with our THIRD and they're all PRINCESSES!!! How do you like that??? I'm so delighted to hear your great news. CONGRATS!!! How are you feeling????? I've got just 9 weeks or less to go!

steveanddonna.... I "second" your comments about our climate!!! :teeth:

Well, I guess I can add a new counter soon!!! Looks like it's official (plane tickets bought)...we'll be at CR 12th floor concierge in May!!! For those who have stayed there, can you get beverages after the desk closes at 3pm? Or, do you just request that your fridge be stocked earlier in the day???

Have a great day, Lizards!!!! I'm glad I found you again!!!!

desiab,

Congratulations!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

How exciting! All these new little princesses running around.

My children can't stop talking about when their new little sister will get here.

Morning to everyone:wave:

WoodysRoundup So good to see you back in the Lounge ::yes:: Can't believe your princess will be arriving in just 9 weeks! How thrilling princess: And CONGRATS on CR 12th Floor...

minniesota 18 more days!:bounce: I think "winging it" will be tons of fun:teeth:...

steveanddonna I totally agree re. the weather! I love it warm but I want the holidays to be COLD (and gray!!) I can't tell you how many times we're in short sleeves for Thanksgiving and Christmas here in South Carolina

VAgal76 What sad news - I'm so sorry. You and your friends' family are in my thoughts...

Have a wonderful day everyone!
:wave2:

Hello LL's

It's official, we are going for MLK weekend. Plane tickets have purchased, we are staying at Pop.

Debbie, are you still planning for that same weekend? I can't wait to meet you and your family. I love that your daughter wants to stay AKL concierge, you've raised her right! LOL. Anyway, keep me posted with your plans.

Good to see y'all.

VAgal....I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I have recently seen a
Christmas Ornament and a framed piece which has a Christmas message from a recently lost loved one. It really is a precious gift with a heart warming message, if you would like me to pm you the information I will gladly do so. It would be an especially lovely "small" gift for her daughter.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Suse

Will they freeze in December? Should I put them in their PJs and snowsuits?? It will be WAY past their bedtimes. Hummmmmmmmm.

Steffy-I've been in December 3 times and January once. It was very warm (80/90's in the days) on 2 December trips and cold on the other December trip and VERY cold on the January trip. You'll have to check the forecast just before you go. I haven't done the fireworks cruise but we did take the boat back to the Poly 1 VERY cold (30's) and windy January night. We had sweatshirts and windbreakers on and we were cold. I think hats and mittens would have helped. How about sweatpants for the kids? Then they can sleep in them if they fall asleep? Here's hoping you get warm December weather and won't have to worry about the snowsuits! I have counter envy!

Donna, Kris, Joe-all others-thanks for keeping us together!

Well, I have been lurking on the saga for a few days and thought it might be OK to pop in for a quick latte. Glad to get updates from everyone - cngrats to another princess: on the way. :grouphug: to all who have experienced sadness over the past couple of days. :bounce: :bounce: to those who have booked an upcoming trip - or are working on assorted DHs etc to try and weasle one in!!

Good news for us - Sarah from Poly IPO was able to book us an Illuminations cruise for DSs b'day Feb 12th. We are wait-listed for the Breathless, but just have a ressie for any boat is great news. We are also all set for DSs breakfast b'day celebration at CP with the royal Tigger himself! I have confirmed plane flights out of Buffalo, booked our overnight for the night before we fly out, contacted FLTours for the towncar, and gotten DSs letter to Santa done (he dictates, I print).

Christmas this year is so great - DS is really getting into it (he is turning 3 in Feb) and loved writing the Letter to Santa - the contents are pretty funny: 1) Big Boy Bed, 2) Monster Truck Race Car Remote Control Car, 3) Dinosaur PJs 4) Smarties

I think Santa should be able to handle that!

Anyway, nice to see everyone - and welcome to our newest Lizards.

Take care all - Happy Monday :teeth:

Thanks lovesdumbo, ValerieK and all the others who have answered my question. I'm still laughing about the kids not being able to move their arms! In little lifevests too! :teeth: :teeth:

My goodness I needed a laugh.

DutchsMommy Great news on the cruise!

Vagal So very sorry about your loved one. :grouphug: to you and the family.

Well, I just printed my latest itinerary. I have one heck of a trip planned. :hyper: :hyper: Best I get back to work so I can pay for it!!!!

And now, since we are on the CB, I can even say.... Go Eagles!!!!

Usually hanging out in the back towards the Arusha fence? Hmmmmm might have to make a few changes to our resort choice then a few changes to our room location with concierge!
****************************************************

Thank you all for the compliments on my picture. A very nice computer wiz helped me get that picture on my sig line. Thank you Kathy. I hope to add a picture of my gd one day soon.

:wave2: Debbie - I am not sure where mom and baby are right now. While we were on the sunset safari Vicki (our guide) said that AKL was going to be doing a lot of breeding this coming year. They plan on putting this whole program along with the new babys on the Sunset Savannah. I am waiting for a return phone call regarding the calfs name. I will ask where you can see mom and baby when they call.

:sunny: Morning to all, guess it's afternoon for some of you. :teeth:

I am awaiting an e-mail from the Poly. I sent them a note on 11-9 letting them know we are coming in May. Also requesting information to book a wishes cruise during our stay. It will be to celebrate my DH birthday  He is turning 50.
My point of all of this is, I really hope I hear back from them soon. DH and myself talked last night, I was giving a brief on what all has been going on at WL and Poly. We decided if the Poly can not send an e-mail by the Monday after Thanksgiving (which gives them 3 weeks from my note) we are booking at AKL. There is just too much money spent staying concierge to be booking your own ps's and such.

Ok lizards, let me know, am I being unreasonable?

Angel

PS- where is the general information thread for concierge? I don't see it under resorts. Maybe I am not looking for the right title?:D

GoofySuse- Would you please pm me with the Christmas Ornament information. I lost my dad recently and a dear friend lost her dad a month ago. This sounds like it would be perfect for a few of us.

Desiab - CONGRATULATIONS - Another beautiful little princess to join our growing group :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Angel,

I PM'd you the link.

Debbie-couldn't help but think of you when I saw this:Hockey PJ's

I'm still thinking about a mother/DD trip this spring. Do you think I'd survive at Pop? I'd probably bring my umbrella stroller. I know the Poly or Epcot resort would be easier than buses but Pop or ASMo is so much cheaper. Should I consider the Swan or Dolphin or YC/BC/Poly/WL non concierge? We've got the AP's and I've got enough miles for 2 round trip tickets. Of course I'm still not sure how to do this without hurting DS(3). I thought maybe I'd take him on an overnight Mom/DS trip closer to home and take him on a solo WDW trip when he's older.

WoodysRoundup, now that the morning sickness has passed I am feeling pretty good. Today I actually made my first purchase for the baby! It was only diapers, wipes, and other essentials, but it makes the coming little one more real.

Minnesota, we will be arriving at the BWI concierge Dec 5-12. IPO was able to book us an illumination cruise for the 6th that I am so excited about. So if you see a tired looking pregnant women with braids then you will know that it is us.

Thanks everyone for your congrats and well-wishes on our new little princess!

I think everyone could use a quick sugar fix so I am putting out some warm pecan pralines.

Hugs and pd for all!

Vagal, I'm very sorry to read of the death of your dear friend. I will pray, right now, for comfort and peace for you and her other loved ones.

It's wonderful to see everyone finding us. The lounge is feeling like "home" again. Good stuff.

And now....Totally off-topic, (and that's okay here)....

Polar Express is WONDERFUL. We just got back. My girls, 6 and 3, sat on the edge of their seats, and my little one chattered in excitement all the way through it. It's terrific, terrific, terrific. They have also released it in IMAX. If you have ANY possibility of seeing it in IMAX, GO FOR IT!!! It would be fabulous. Half the movie you feel as though you're on a roller coaster, and it would be a lot of fun with the IMAX experience.

I'm going to go see it again with them in Michigan to see it in IMAX, I think. I'm just not sure I'll be able to do it this weekend before we go, it might have to wait till we get back. What a blast, though!

Love,

Kris

I feel better that my reference to Ralphie's little brother was known by all. I would have looked pretty silly sitting here laughing all by myself.

Desiab Congratulations. This lounge can definitely fit in more princesses. We'll be at the YC 12/9-12/13, so I will keep my eye out for you. I'm sure that you'll be the one glowing.

VAgal Sorry to hear about your loss. There's never a good time, but the holiday's make it especially rough.

Minniesota There's nothing wrong with "fluid" plans, I just don't want to hear reports about the couple being spotted in the concierge lounge who were overheard saying "what do you want to do today?", "I don't know, what do you want to do?". Seriously, I'm sure you and DH are going to have a great time.

Me and my sweetie are getting away on the Disney cruise in January, just the 2 of us. And ladies, they have concierge service on the cruise. It is wonderful, talk about feeling like royalty princess:

Goofy's I saw your weekend schedule and it looks pretty familiar. DS14 is into drama, soccer, competitive skating, art club and the creative writing club. He just started 9th grade in a private school which has done wonders for him. He made honor roll for the first time ever this semester. This is the first report card that he's ever brought home that didn't contain a grade lower than a B. DD8 is a cheerleader and skater. Even DH get's into the act by playing on a men's soccer league. I just drive the taxi, I mean minivan, around town all day. I miss DD19 not only because she's away at college, but because she was another driver in our family.

Off to make dinner, I'll stop by later for dessert and cordials.

Tammi

You'll survive pop! We had so much fun we didn't care where we were. With only two of you space won't be an issue. Since only one of you can go out on their own LOL, I'd suggest getting a fridge in the room and stocking up on the drinks you both like. Also make sure to have the favorite snacks on hand. Pop is really.. well.. cute!

LovesDumbo>> Thanks for the link! I'm going to see if they make them in larger sizes. He's 5'5 going on giant at the moment. He's only 11!

Tammy>> Still on! Plane tickets bought, though DH doesn't know that piece of information yet *he didn't ask, but I know he knows* We'll be arriving very late the 12th and staying at POP, though we're considering moving the 13-17th to another resort.... oh the pondering we do. Can't wait to meet you and your DS!

VaGal>> Prayers and PD to you and your friend's family. Big hugs to you!

Three pregnant with their third... DON'T LOOK AT ME! No, no way.. won't do it.. can't make me! :) But I'd love to enjoy all of your trials, tribulations, and baby pictures!

Angel>> Thank you for asking! If you talk to the concierge, they'll probably even know who is asking. (that crazy lady who has to be at the very very end of Zebra Trail so she can watch her ankole family from the best spot) I know I am obsessed with the ankole and I can't explain it except to say we watched her through her second pregnancy so I feel like I know the family! I live by cows! I should not be obsessed with cattle!

Thank you for all of the signature compliments. I know they are VERY small, but this way I can put more up! The puppy is Max, or Mad Max, or Maximillian, or Maxx of NY, cineMAX, or Maximus depending on his and our mood. The other are Natalie cake/graduation, Danny's (face) with Max, and the Danny's hockey team that I am the manager of. GO JACKALS!

We miss you BT! Big wave to everyone... I hope I didn't miss anything. If I did I didn't mean to leave you out!

Debbie

Kris I totally agree. The Lounge is feeling like home again to me too :D I can't believe you'll be in WDW in 12 days!!:earseek: How exciting...

Thanks also for the hint about Polar Express. Charleston has an IMAX theater so I think we'll see that version ::yes:: This book has been a favorite of mine for about 5 years or so and I really hope I love the movie as well.

Angel I really agree with your Poly IPO decision. I have been so spoiled by the Itinerary Planners at AKL CL and also BWI CL that I would be extremely put off w/ the treatment described by some staying GF and Poly and WL CL. It just isn't the way it's supposed to be! I would stick to your guns. 3 weeks is way too much time, IMO! I'd say 1 week max before getting back with them... It's already been 6 days. :smooth:

Setting out some cabernet sauvignon and sea salt potato chips:crazy:

Ok lizards, let me know, am I being unreasonable?
Angel I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. As you know this has been a frequent problem for us, as well. The thing is, once they do start working with you, they're FABULOUS! And, knowing some of what they have to deal with (the busiest IPO on property and not nearly enough planners) I always end up feeling bad for them. Do e-mail again with a gentle reminder that you haven't heard from them yet. I plan to talk to the concierge mgr. about this when we are there in Dec., but I'll probably write a letter as well. I hope you'll do the same. Disney does seem pretty responsive to their guests concerns. I even get phone calls or e-mails from them when we send an appreciation or thank you letter. We love everything else about the Poly, so it's kind of disheartening that this is still an issue for them.

Heard from BT today, as, I know, did some others on the thread. I am hoping this is a step in the right direction; keep throwing PD all around everyone.

It was a loooooong day at work, so I'm going to peer into my freezer and find the quickest, easiest meal in there, then sit down a big mug of hot tea.

Angel - I was concerned about the Poly IPO as well. I hadn't heard from them in about 2 weeks from my initial e-mail and then when they finally did e-mail they had the wrong info about my trip. I thought - great here we go - this is supposed to make it easier for me and now I am feeling like I have to follow up on everything. Well, I e-mailed back and I guess sounded a little concerned. Since then, I have been dealing with "Sarah" and she has been great - even called me on Sunday to confirm my Illuminations cruise. I think if you e-mail again with a gentle reminder they will set things straight. Good luck.

Now I have a question for all the LLs: On our first day we arrive at around 11am at AKL. We currently have 5 day PHs which I wasn't planning on starting until the day after we arrive. I am trying to figure out what to do our first day. We arrive on a Monday and I planned on doing:

Tues: Sunrise Safari and AK day
Wed: MGM
Thrs: Epcot
Fri: MK (PS at CP for Pooh and friends)
Sat: MK (DSs b''day and the Illuminations cruise)

I am thinking maybe I should upgrade to a 6 day PH and do MGM on the day we arrive - there doesn't seem to be too much at MGM that we are interested in. (Keep in mind we have never been before so I am basing this on guide books etc). We would then have 2 days to do Epcot - maybe Wed and Thrs. From Mon-Thurs we are at AKL and then Thurs to Sun we are at the Poly.

I also thought maybe we could use a "+" and go to the mini-golf out by AKL - but I am not sure about using a + for that, I think I would rather save them for a water park at a later date (more value for $$ - maybe I am being too cheap?!LOL)

I was also considering relaxing at the AKL or going to the Boardwalk or Dwntn Disney and then maybe doing Whispering Canyon at WL - although getting to WL from AKL might be a bit of a pain I think.

Anyway, I am totally at a loss and looking for suggestions. Thanks!!!! :teeth:
