The New Lizard Lounge

So, at 2:00 a.m., as I'm laying in bed staring at the ceiling and thinking of all the things I need to get done in PA today (by phone no less) this name pops into my head -- GARY SINISE. That's who we saw as narrator of the CP. He was excellent. I guess I need to stare at the ceiling more often.

:rotfl: MinnieSummer, Yes, you do need to stare at your ceiling more. Just like, I need to spend more time in the shower. :) that is where all my inspiration comes from. I can solve the problems of the world while in the shower, gosh...I have even been know to solve high calculus (math) problems in my head while in the shower. MinnieSummer you are too kind to be thinking about us going to our first CP and needing suggestions for the best narrator. With all you have going on your life.

I love Gary Sinise. He must have been awesome! Now I just need Disney to come out with a list of performers so we can decide when we want to go. We will be in WDW for a little over two weeks. I hope that will give us many choices for a good narrator.

MinnieSummer, you and your family continue to be in my prayers. How is your quick Mothers Day trip to WDW coming along? I am so glad you are going to be able to get away, even if it is only for a couple of days. I hope you have a wonderful, fun and restful trip.

Hockeymom/Debbie - Yea it Friday! Your one-day closer to summer vacation and one day closer to your WDW trip.

Donna, Hope things are going great for you and Captain Concierge.

Nancy56, Hope you are doing well and not having any iron issues with your DH.

Minniesota- Know you are in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Ladies of the Lounge – Now, doesn’t that sound nice and formal. In Disney it is formal. In Vegas it would be :rolleyes1

What plans do you all have for mother’s day? It would be fun to share what all we planned or did for this very special day. I will go first. My mom is no longer with me so I will be placing some roses (her favorite) on her memorial in her honor. I have/had one of the very best mom’s.

As for my day, well I think I would like Tim to make his famous French toast with a nice glass of fresh mango juice and a cup of Kona coffee. The Sunday paper, my DH and our puppies. That will be just perfect. Have to see if I can smile and bat-my big green eyes into that for my morning!

Sending wishes for a great Friday afternoon.

:wave2: I don't know why I never saw this? Hello, Debbie, Bonnie, Donna, Elisabeth and everyone new I have yet to meet! I guess I'll have to get busy catching up around here! :moped: I thought the Lounge had been dismantled... nice to see it's been rebuilt! Anybody crank up the cappucino machine?

I must say we aren't doing anything special other than card exchanges and quite possibly dinner. We plan on getting our camper ready for our camping trip next weekend. :rotfl: ~Singing~ Happy Mom's day to me, Happy Mom's Day to me....I can't complain. I chose to finish up this weekend. It's work for me, but it's the good kind of work.

Happy Mom's Day to you all. I know it's a tough day for those whose mother has since passed. :grouphug:

Shoot Disbug - I posted at the same time as you! Howdy Ho!!!! Yes, the cap machine is totally cranking. ;) :teeth:

Its not only cranking... it has been cleaned! I cleaned it after work Friday so we'd have the whole weekend CLEAN FREE!

Have a wonderful Mother's Day, everyone!

OH, TANK YOU, TANK YOU, DEB! I'm living on caffeine this week! YOU TOO! Hope those kids really DAZZLE you for Mother's Special Day this year!

The same goes for everyone else who is celebrating! Hope your day is happy!

And now back to work (bleh, boo, hiss!) :moped:

Lady of the Lounge. I like that. You know I waited all of my life for a title, (Mom doesn't count, it is the best in the world besides Nana, but I wanted something a little more interesting) and I finally have one.

Anyway, first things first. Happy Mother's Day to all of the lovely Ladies in our lounge.

My Mother's Day will be a little strange. We are moving Mother's day to next weekend for my kids Meme. My DD is going to a concert tonite, and as we usually all have a dinner out together, we need to move it in order to include Marisa.
Now tomorrow I am going to my Mom's in the morning and my gift to her is to clean her house, and make meatballs. She is 85, and has lost her strength, so I clean her house for her, as well as cooking some of the things she likes but tht are time consuming, but I have been slipping a bit. She does not like to go out for meals anymore. I am not sure what the kids are doing for me, it usually is a surprise, and I am the last to know.

Thanks for the Happy Mothers Day and right back at all you lovely ladies :flower3:. DS was so sweet, he got invited to see the play Wicked here in Boston and was backing out because it's Mother's Day. I told him that I'd like nothing more than to know he was enjoying himself. So, he's going out with a friend and her mom, while DH and the girls are taking me to a 15 course brunch. I've been saving my appetite and I've only had a bagel since this morning :teeth: . Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Nancy, I'm building an ark, let me know if you want me to reserve you a room on board :rotfl2: . Can you believe this weather???? A solid week of rain and now we might see the sun on Thursday. This is nuts.

Angel, we saw CP once and at that time it was Eric Estrada doing the narrating. I got the CD for my DH and it's absolutely beautiful. Concierge actually picked it up for me and had it waiting in the room under our tree. I love listening to it all year.

MinnieSummer, I hope you're having a relaxing break in Disney.

Any Lizards in the Cleveland Ohio area? It's possible that we'll be headed there at the end of November and I need some help with lodging and "not to miss" attractions.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.....

Good morning, all Ladies of the Lounge! HAPPY MARVELOUS MOTHERS' DAY! :grouphug: The kids woke me up with coffee, cala lilies, and CHOCOLATE! OOOooo what good kids! :thumbsup2 DD5 had a wreath done using her hands and a pottery mug made (with Dad's help) at the local museum during a field trip. Those are really my favorite kind of gifts! The construction paper and clay variety! :goodvibes Hope everyone is having the same kind of day... :wave2:

TammiMcMan~ Your name sounds so familiar and I can't place why? Maybe you just have a really cool UserID? :cool1:

I'm leaving some of this chocolate on the sideboard and firing up the cap machine for those who are up early!

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day to all of you!

I'm usually confined to my bed until the kids get up and prepare me breakfast (this has been going on for about 10 years!) but since they are teens now and they stay confined to their beds MUCH longer than me, I said I'll enjoy a quiet morning and they can prepare a later breakfast!

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers for my dad and our family. He and I went to a great Twins game Friday night (my folks are here for the weekend). I can't believe he has 4 brain tumors - he's just as I've always known him..kind, gentle with a twinkle in his eye. I'm holding on to every minute.

Later today, all my siblings (7) and their families are gathering at my sister's for a big family Mother's Day celebration. We are catering through a fab Italian deli in the neighborhood --mostaccolli and meatballs, Italian salad with basil vinagairette and their to-die-for bread. We'll also be serving cake and ice cream to celebrate one of the mom's completeion of her master's program. I'm glad we can all be together for my mom today.

It's so good to see some familiar faces (and new ones!) in the lounge. It's a great place to hang out!

minniesota! Confined to your bed! I LOVE THAT! :teeth: What great kids to do that for you... I understand the current teen sleep situation. I think they are like bear cubs at this stage! They must hibernate for 12 to 16 hours per day! :rolleyes1 Hope you enjoyed your quiet morning... I am here at work knoshing on my Peterbrooke chocolates, sipping a good cup of coffee, and watching all my instruments hum along. It's almost time to go home, so I'll say 'bye' for now...

I was sad to read about your DF's brain tumors... but so glad to hear how you cherish every moment you are with him. My DF will not talk about ANY health issues... so if he suddenly leaves us, I will surely be inconsolable. :grouphug:

Happy Mother's Day To all :grouphug:

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."

Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted.

This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.

For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.

This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see.

And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.

This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.

And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me, Mom?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.

This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.

This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand)mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.

This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.

For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year.

And then read it again. "Just one more time."

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted
for Velcro instead.

This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.

This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college.

This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches assuringg them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.

This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.

This is for all the step-mothers who raised another woman's child or children, and gave their time, attention, and love... sometimes totally unappreciated!

For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.

For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.

For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful and now pray they come home safely from a war.

What makes a good Mother anyway?

Is it patience?

Compassion?

Broad hips?

The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?

Or is it in her heart?

Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?

The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?

The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?

Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?

The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation...

And mature mothers learning to let go

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.

Single mothers and married mothers.

Mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all. For all of us. Hang in there.

In the end we can only do the best we can.

Tell them every day that we love them.

And pray.

This really covers all of us Moms. Happy Mothers Day!
Hugs & Pixie Dust,
Angel

I canOh Angel: You make my cry. With your permission I would like to share this with some of the wonderful women in my life. Thankyou for sharing this with us. :grouphug:

Tammi: I think that I will be needing a room on your Ark. THere does not seem to be an end in sight here. The weather man said this is normal for May, but I must blot out some unpleasantness because it is always a surprise to me when this happens I'm going :crazy2:

Minniesota: What wonderful children you have! I am happy that you are having such a nice family gathering today. Kudos to your Mom on her achievements! I know that your Dad is basking in the glow of his family today, so enjoy your special day!

My Mom cannot stand big gatherings any more. We all are dropping in on her at different times so that she does not get overwhelmed. She worried that I was cleaning at her house today, but I could honestly tell her that there was nothing that I would rather have done today. At 85, she may not have too many more special days, so I was happy to be with her today.

Now, did I hear that the cappuccino machino is ready to fire up? May I add some nice biscotti along with some Kahlua?

I hope everyone here had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I enjoyed spending Saturday afternoon with my mom and grandma—we went to a great little home cooking restaurant and enjoyed a nice meal together. :)

minniesota, I’m glad to hear that you were able to spend such fun time with your family. I know these memories mean the world to you.

Angel that was lovely -- It brought tears to my eyes and such pain to my heart when I think of what my DD's life could have been if the Mother hadn't given birth only to never see her again. Being an adoptive mom gives even more special meaning each Mother's Day.

Minniesota: Please hug your DD for me. I know what you are going through and I tell all my dads nurses to at least once a day hug him and tell him it's from me as I can't be with him that often. This Mother's Day was also my parents 57th wedding anniversary. They spent it together which, at this stage, means more than any present could.

Everyone else, happy Mother's Day. Mine was wonderfully relaxing. I sat by the pool most of saturday then went to see the Electric Parade at MK. Sunday we went to AK and rode some rides then stopped at the GAP outlet (my DD needed shorts for summer camp) then headed home.

By the way, wasn't overly impressed with Saratoga Springs. The rooms were to small and the place even more spread out than Caribean Beach. However, the pool was great and the food court had some great choices.

Talk to you all soon.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day. I was spoiled yesterday morning with Tim's famous french toast which he complimented with fresh papaya, a glass of Mimosa, and of course fresh Kona coffee. Sounds like we were doing a test run of our vacation at the Polynesian. :goodvibes I spent the day reading and catching up on a few chores I needed to do. I heard from both of our girls by phone and they each sent lovely cards. In the early evening, our best friends invited us for dinner. We sat out on their patio and enjoyed appetizers and cocktails. The main course was grilled steak, baked potatoe, salad and mud pie for dessert.

However, the highlight of my day was my SIL calling from Iraq, as we were getting ready for bed. When I picked up the phone, he was singing the country song “The hand that rocks the cradle”. :sad1: I barely held it together. He has a wonderful voice and he sung from the heart. What a wonderful day! Thank you all for your prayers for our SIL. He is doing well and counting the days until he comes home, we are now under 90 days. Woo Hoo

Nancy57- Yes, you certainly can use the mothers writing. My SIL e-mailed it to me, I thought all of you would enjoy. Nancy, what a sweet unselfish thing to do for your mom. Cleaning her house on Mothers Day. I hope you both had a good time even working.

Elizabeth - Your dinner with your mom and grandmother, how wonderful. I am sure they enjoyed the afternoon more than you can imagine. I have a picture in my mind of the three of you sitting in this little restaurant with fresh flowers on the table and a nice fresh tablecloth. You are enjoying fresh salad perhaps a cup of soup and some great comfort foods homemade. Ahhhh

Tammi – How are you doing and how was your mothers day? Really am looking forward to a complete report about your 15-course brunch. :thumbsup2 You have been on my mind. I really need to get that promised PM off to you. I’m so bad.

Minniesummer - What a wonderful woman you are. I did not know and/or remember that you and your husband adopted. It is such a gift to both the child and parents. Many, many children would never be where they are now in life if it had not been for a loving person adopting them. Many children would have lived in poverty, abuse, and neglect, had not God intervened and joined child and parent together. Thank you for being one who opened your heart, hands and home to a young child that needed you so.

I am so glad you were able to get away for a few days. Staying at WDW even for a night or two is better then no WDW at all. Thank you for the information on Saratoga Springs. A friend of ours was trying to talk us into staying there. I just could not give up AKL. Nope, Nope.

Disbug - Hope you had a good Mothers Day. I do want you to know I have added some fresh ground de-caf coffee for the cappuccino machine. For some of us who may have had a little too much chocolate and coffee over the weekend. No names being mention!

#1Hockeymom and Tammi McMan- I thought of both of you when I was reading the above. Sitting on cold benches just to watch and support your children in Hockey and Ice Dance. They will never forget that you were always there for them. What super moms you both are. :grouphug:

Happy Monday to all! A new week fresh with possibilities. pixiedust:

Angel :wave2:

I loved reading about your Mother's Day. Such a special day for all of us.

Tammi: How was your brunch?

Angel: I think that you got the best gift you could have recieved. A call for your SIL must have been the best! Counting the days with you.

Elizabeth: I envy that you were able to spend the day with your Grandmother as well as your mother. 3 generations is indeed a special gift.

Well, we have some sadness in our community. We lost a young Marine earlier in the month, and he is coming home today. The veterans association has asked that we all come out to lend support to his family, so my DH is picking up the little one from school for me, and I am going down to stand on his route home. It is so sad. His home has had every tree dressed in yellow ribbons, this is not how they imagined they would be taking them down. My heart is breaking for his family. My sister has not spoken about it, and I have been afraid to bring it up. This is way to close to home for her. Your heart breaks because when you hear this you pray "please God don't let this be my Marine" but you know that another Mother is crying. There is no good way to give your child up. Please say a little prayer for all of the service men and women who serve to keep us safe, as well as their families. I know how powerful prayers are.

I'm going to try and catch up with the thread and hopefully won't leave anyone out.

Angel, I loved the Mothers Day poem. Thank you for sharing it. My day was wonderful. We opted for the afternoon brunch starting at 3pm. Let's see if I can remember everything (I should have brought the menu home with me). It was all served tableside, which was very nice. I started with a glass of champagne and they had some breakfast selections. We had poached eggs over lobster, cinnamon, grand marnier french toast, Maine blueberry pancakes, maple sausage, ham, bacon and hash browns. Following that was smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, oysters with a lemon saffron dressing, penne pasta, ceasar salad then free range chicken, cooked salmon, veal, asparagus and a huge dessert bar with my favorite, chocolate mousse. The food was amazing and so many different tastes.

Nancy, I'll reserve a nice stateroom on the ark for you. We're up to something like 12 or 13 inches of rain. Our little town was all over the news last night, as more than 60% of it is currently flooded, with maybe the worst still to come tonight. Neither me, nor DD had school today. Kind of a bummer though, because now our last day of school is June 23rd. We also lost one of our towns own young men to the war last month. The schools and town offices closed the day of his funeral so that anyone who wished, could attend. It seemed like thousands walked behind the funeral car taking his body from the funeral to the towns cemetary.

DisBug, I know I've seen you on the DIS, but do you think you might know me in real life? I live in Saugus if that helps.

Elisabeth, your girls day out sounds wonderful.

Minniesota, glad you had such a nice weekend with your family and especially the time you spent with your dad.

MinnieSummer, your Mothers Day sounds relaxing. I hope you were able to take a moment and catch your breath. Congrats to your mom & dad on their 57th anniversary :lovestruc .

VAGal, hope you were successful in getting your camper ready for the season. My 2 sisters have theirs set on a site up in Maine. They both love spending their weekends up there with family and friends.

Well, I'm headed back down to check out my basement. So far, so good. Even with more than a foot of rain, I don't have much more than a small puddle here and there on my concrete floor. Take care everyone.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day. :flower:

Angel - That was absolutely beautiful.

I spent mine just working on the camper. Well, ya'll can call me Ms. Fix It because I think I know how to do it all now. Two faucet replacements, repair broken pipe and air locked water pump. It's all done as of this evening. Now I just have to pack the rest of the goodies and we'll be set. Whew! This is becoming work. If I'd been able to read this weekend I'd taken you up on a room on your ark, Tammi. Lord knows there was enough water floating around me this weekend. I think I'm permanently pruney. It's better today though with some heavy duty moisturizer. :teeth:

Okay, I'm taking my pooped self to soak in a hot bath. Leaving out the chocolate chip cookies, milk or Bailey's if that "floats your boat" this evening. Sorry I just couldn't resist.

Tammi-I had to come and see if you had checked in after hearing today that Saugus got hit really bad. Glad to hear you're OK. We're pretty lucky here on the South Shore. The street behind us had a few feet of water but we just have a trickle in our basement.

 Hello to everyone. I had to take a break from the Dis after a disappointing trip last Oct but I've got the Disney bug again and just celebrated my bday at Disney with 2 adult friends (awesome trip!!!) and I'm heading back on Friday with just DD for her 7th. I can't wait to have some special one on one time with her and escape the weather here in MA.

I think of you all often.
