My husband just said on the phone "we have to talk about your trip" and he just came back from farm/hunting/I think I am a farmer land in the UP. He spent too much on the tractor implements and expects it to come out of MY vacation! What is it with tractors and vacations? LOL

I'm off to hockey, but it is so nice to see everyone!!

Yeah, what's up with that? :smokin: :stir:

Angel, my planning is going pretty well. I’m still waiting on a bit more of the “best parks for each day” info from Tour Guide Mike’s page, then we’ll get it finalized. Are y’all going to MVMCP?

I have done an Illuminations cruise, and it was a lot of fun. We actually did it on our honeymoon, which was in December 2003. It was a chilly night, but they provided blankets to keep us warm. They did not provide any beverages, so we brought our own hot chocolate. I’m not sure if you can bring alcohol on board, so I would double check that when you book it.

Yes, we are going to MVMCP. We are so excited. TammiMcMan helped up make up our minds. We have our reservations and ADR for LTT. Those are two firsts for us.

Elizabeth, When is your anniversary? If you were on your honeymoon in December I imagine you were married at the end of November or sometime in December. :sunny:

Are you still a go for the Candlelight Processional? Both Tim and I are so looking forward to that.

Question Lizards: Who all has gone before and who did they see reading the Christmas story. Is there someone who is truley gifted? When will they come out with the names of the proformers?

Hockeymom - Your in my prayers for a positive conversation with your DH. Maybe he feels he needs to stay home from Alaska, after all that is a very expensive trip. :rolleyes1

And speaking of rehabbing. I have heard they are redoing the rooms at AKL. Putting in NEW BEDS or should I say mattresses and new drapes and bedspreads. :bounce:

Got to head home and throw some steaks on the grill. We are having steaks and home-grown-veggies. :) Have a good evening everyone.

Angel... CP is still an all-time favorite memory in my book... truly wish I could go every year. We had only one date that would fit in our quick December trip in 2004, so we took "pot luck" as to performers. Turns out that Marlee Matlin was on that night. I had no idea what to expect as she was working with her interpreter. I was moved to tears... the two just did a lovely, inspirational performance. Even my children remember this night fondly as we did the dinner package with Alfredo's. There are always a lot of mixed reviews about that restaurant (as there are with most anything DISers share their views on, LOL!), but my crew gave it a "thumbs up, we must return"! I cherish my CP CD which is voiced by Phylicia Rashad, also a beautiful reader. That's one CD I actually do play all year long just to bring back memories of that trip! :)

I feel your pain. My Dh keeps finding iron that he cannot live without. I was trying to get in a short trip for the free dining, because you know I love to save money, but I am not sure that after the purchases we made this year he will agree that it is a necessity.

I am going to present it as a bonus for him. I would be traveling with my Sis in law from my previous marriage, and my DGD who is niece. Now my DH doesn't want her to join us in January, so do you think this is a compromise? You know....for his sake?

Bonnie, from my lips to the WL manager’s ears. :teeth: How funny that they are redoing them! I’m glad to hear it, as I think it will really make it an even better place to stay. Are there any pics of the model rooms showing what they will look like?

Debbie, your husband must be living in some sort of alternate reality. His farm implements trumping your Disney trip? I don’t think so! :teeth:

Angel, my anniversary is 12-13-03, so we did honeymoon in December. You’re really going to enjoy the Christmas Party and LTT is the perfect place to eat before it—the holiday-type food is perfect to set the mood for the party. Right now we don’t have the CP in the schedule, but we’ll see if we end up sticking it in. It really is a beautiful event.

I haven't seen any pics yet. I should really spend more time on the boards so I can get the complete scoop and not just half of it. :rotfl2:  The poster said they gave it new bedspreads, flooring and replaced the wallpaper so it matches more with the woodsy feel and not native american. I remember cowboys and indians wallpaper. I thought that fit in, but I guess it's all in perspective. They have shelfs at the sinks now, too. I'm much better at remembering details I see in pictures rather than reading them in a post.

I told them I'd come back once they got a real lounge in there and did a better job on service. I need to keep my end of the bargain. ;)

~Someone please pass the mashed taters and sugar cookies.~

Oh I just knew everyone here would understand! I also agree that middle of nowhere Alaska via Michigan is MUCH more expensive than Disney! Afterall, I have ONE nonstop flight on a real plane. He has four, and the last two are float planes! For all I know he's parachuting for the last part! LOL

Goofy's Muse, Thank you for sharing your memory. I am really excited about attending this. Just wish they would come out with the list of performers so we could decide which night. Does anyone else have a CP memory, story or suggested restaurant? Is is better to eat first then attend the performance? Or the other way around?

ead79 - Oh how wonderful a December bride. :bride: If I remember correctly you are a Disney Bride. Do you have wedding pictures that you can share. If you do and don't mind I would love to see them. :)

I had not even thought about the holiday type food at LTT. :yay: That will be perfect. I just knew we wanted a sit-down meal, have done CRT last year and wanted to be in the park. I am sure it will be a perfect night.

Donna & Nancy56 - I really hope this illness that your DH's have been trying to come down with is not catching. My DH sure had not better come down with a case of "I really need to go fishing in Alaska". or "We need a new car". Both diseases he has had in the past. :rolleyes1 Our WDW Christmas celebration will NOT be cancelled for any stupid big fish or car. and thats that! :santa:

Angel it's Debbie's DH with a case of fishy flu. My DH has the opposite syndrome: "when are we going back to the Poly" fever! I hope they never find a cure for that one!

We hope that a cure is never found too, Donna!

Debbie - Parachuting? :teeth: :rotfl:

Angel - I've not been able to hit WDW during the holidays. It's a pipe dream of mine. Maybe in the next few years we can celebrate with Mickey. My 90 year old husband trapped in a 29 year old body just doesn't like to travel during the holidays. Plus, it cuts into his hunting excursions. I think I could get him to swing a long weekend in early December though. I think I'll be learning from you guys in the future on this so keep good notes. Wish I could be more help. It sounds like a truly magical time. ::yes:: Did I tell you that I'm so completely jealous?

Big wave to all of you ~

Elizabeth, you were such a beautiful bride! Thank you so much for sharing your wedding album.

Thanks so much! It really was such a wonderful day that I will always treasure.

hunting.... spit cough ack.... no, I am not an anti hunter... I just married one and OF COURSE his vacation days are FIRST taken by hunting, then fishing... THEN FAMILY! Hey, I knew what I was getting into 20 years ago and I wouldn't change a thing; afterall... I have you guys to tour the world with!

Elizabeth, Your wedding pictures are wonderful. I so enjoyed viewing them. Thank you for sharing. You and Colin make a very nice couple, I can see in your eyes how very much in you both are. And you my Elizabeth....well you were breathtaking. :bride: pixiedust: The GF looks like a perfect place to have your wedding reception, very beautiful pictures.
What a loverly way for me to spend my lunch hour today. Thank you for sharing.

VAGAL - You...jealous of me? :lmao: You are always going on super fantastic trip that I can only dream of. I will be on your cruise in spirit. :)

Donna, :rotfl2: You are too funny. Now that's one illness that we all would like our DH's to have, some may prefer africian version, or GF type.

Ok ladies I need your vote: Prime Time or Si Fi? Which one for a lunch or dinner. We haven't been to either.

I am putting out pot stickers with assortment of dips, also some stickey wings. I also have a large fruit tray. On the side bar are sodas, an assortment of wine I picked up on my last trip to Maui and are large pitcher of Lapa Lupus. After all it is Hump Day !! Let's party party:

Prime time for food... sci fi for an away from the sun and heat drink!

ANGEL16: We have done the CP for the last five years. We have seen Rita Moreno, Felicia Rishad (2x), John Stamos and ??? (the man who does the intro at Mission Space and I think is on CSI -- I'm so bad with names). Anyway, each narator puts a different spin on it and I've never been dissappointed. Felicia's was very moving, Rita's was passionate, the CSI guy was dramatic and John Stamos was very Uncle Jessie. He was just so excited to be there that he was directing the chorus and grinning and generally being a kid in adults clothing but it was still really good. Basically, the story and the music are so moving that the narrator just contributes, I don't think a narrator could ruin the show. You'll enjoy the show regardless of who tells the story. Have fun and maybe I'll see you there.

Is anyone going to be there this weekend? I convinced my DH that I needed a break from the crumbling world around me and the only place to get it was at WDW. Try finding a room on property three days before Mother's Day -- we ended up at Saratoga Springs. I hope it is worth it as we used our reward points that were supposed to go for our Christmas Trip but I had used up our play money on my last, last minute, trip to PA and have to go again in two weeks. It was points or don't go.

Thankfully my DH doesn't have a hobby that would interfere with a trip to WDW. He just has to squeeze in mowing the lawn every weekend. It's my trips to PA that are taking away from our WDW trips -- but I wouldn't change anything. I'm just glad I can afford to get there when they need me.

Angel, thanks so much! You’re too sweet! It really was a perfect day. We had our ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, then we watched Illuminations on the little island in front of the Italy Pavilion for the pre-reception, then our reception was at the American Adventure Rotunda. That was a real plus since it didn’t require much decorating. We loved having pictures made at the Grand Floridian (we actually had some made individually before the wedding, then as a couple the day after the wedding).

I have been to both Sci-Fi and 50’s Prime Time, but it’s been a while for both. From what I’ve read, Sci-Fi is much better for lunch than for dinner and 50’s Prime Time works for either meal. If you’re up for some good natured ribbing, then 50’s Prime Time tends to get the better reviews.

MinnieSummer, enjoy your trip to the World this weekend! It’s a much-needed break, and I know you’ll have a wonderful time. I’ve never stayed at Saratoga Springs, but it looks beautiful. I believe that they have a boat launch to the Downtown Disney area (just like OKW, POR, and POFQ do)—if so take it because the boat ride is relaxing and enjoyable. Have a good time!

Angel - What? Of course I'm jealous. :rotfl: Your trip sounds AWESOME! :thumbsup2
