The New Lizard Lounge

Steph, I’ve never been pregnant, but I’ve heard that they sell these ginger sucker thingies that supposedly really help with morning sickness. I’ve also heard that some ladies get success with those “Sea Bands” some people use for motion sickness. I don’t know what doctors have to say about those, but I thought I’d suggest it anyhow. Hope you feel better soon!

STEPH: My girlfriend had morning sickness around the clock during her first tri-mester and partially into her second. She got one of the bean bag pillows -- the kind used to wrap around -- and froze it then put it around her neck. It gave her enough relief that she was able to function even though people looked at her like she was strange. Hope you find something that gives you relief. My DD is adopted so I can't compare notes but I do know that in the end it will all be worth it.

Prayers and pixie dust to you, MinnieSummer. I've been where you are with both parents, and I empathize with the arduous road you are travelling. Knowing you help to make their lives easier is totally worth it though. Some of the best mother/daughter moments of my life were during my Mom's long illness.

Steph, the Preggie Pops and the Preggie Sour Drops are phenomenal according to my cousin, who had terrible morning sickness while carrying her twins. She had sucked on lemon wedges for relief during her two previous pregnancies, but her heartburn was so bad with the twins that she needed an alternative. My DH has used the Preggie Pops for relief from motion sickness after riding rides he shouldn't be riding, too. There are also some ginger gummi bears you can buy at Trader Joe's if you have one in your area. We use these when our nieces and nephews have funky tummies.

I get to see Mickey in just a little over a week and I am :jumping1: You'd think after 19 trips the excitement would wear off!

Steph-boy I can sympathise with you! I had morning sickness with my 3rd (and last :teeth: ) for 24 weeks. I went to Disney at 26 weeks but still couldn't eat too much due to the heat. I ended up gaining only 8 pounds and she was a very healthy 8 lbs 13 oz. I told myself that the morning sickness was a sign of a good strong baby.

Donna-have a great trip!

steveanddonna: The excitement NEVER goes away when it comes to Disney. We've been to the World close to 70 times and still get excited whenever we even think of going back. Right now, that's the only thing that puts a smile on my face, the September trip that we have planned.

steph: I read posts like yours and talk to my girlfriends and it makes me very happy that I never went through that -- I did it the easy way and adopted. I really think God knew I'd never make it through 9 months of pregnancy and the delivery (just the thought terrified me) so he made sure I couldn't get pregnant (even with 3 in-vitro attempts) and then, only two months after signing up with an adoption attorney we were given the opportunity to adopt a baby girl that was born that morning. I always tell people I went through in 2 days what most people go through in 9 months. Because we had no idea we would be getting a baby so soon and because I didn't want to jinx anything I had absolutely nothing ready so, in 2 days I transfromed the third bedroom into a nursery, bought everything I needed to bring her home, and, with a hurricane coming, drove to North Florida to pick her up and bring her home. My DH says the was the most terrifying drive of his life. We were listening to the radio saying the hurricane was going to hit Boca and we had a new baby in the car trying to get home so we could shutter the house and, yes, the day before it was to make landfall I was trying to find the right formula. It still sounds better than morning sickness.

Good Golly :jumping1:

You all are so great. You give me somthing to strive for. Our trip in September will be my 4th trip. It will be DH's 2nd. I only wish we lived closer and could maybe hit Mega Bucks! :rotfl:

If I did, I would have to share with all the lizards so we all could get together in our favorite place. It would be so much more fun enjoying together.

MinniSummer I am so sorry that you have to go through this with your family. I know how very hard it is. There were times when my parents were ill that I didn't know if I had what it took to make it. But, we are all much stronger than we know. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Lovesdumbo - I hope your mom is doing better and starting to accept her new home and therapy. You remain in my prayers.

Tammy McMann I saw the article on your son. That is fantastic! You must be so very proud. As you should be, without a great mom he would probaby have to work much harder to be where he is. Keep up posted as to where all he will be performing.

Donna- I hope you have a wonderful trip. I am sure you will. Staying at the Poly I am sure. One day I hope to. Came really close this year if it hadn't been for them closing due to rehab. Oh well, as one of my friends from Germany says about America. I am sure Walt Disney World isn't going any where. ;)

It is so great to see you back Sfbank I am so glad to hear your dad is doing well with his chemo and radiation. What are your dates for your November trip? We will be going to Thanksgiving too.

Has anyone heard from Minniesota?

Hockeymom- Debbie Have a wonderful trip. I hope you will share all about your time at AKL when you return.

EAD79 How is your job going? I have been lurking in and out on the BAC thread and really find your writings very inspiring. You are one very special person.

Sending best wishes, pd, and prayers to everyone.

I am going to close as it is getting late and I want to get up early tomorrow morning to prepare some Macnut sweetrolls and Kona coffee to leave in the lounge before I head to work. I also have fresh papaya, bananas and Animal Kingdom Oatmeal. Hope everyone enjoys. :wave2:

{hugs} You all are so sweet. I was just coming here to tell you that I'm still not online much because I'm feeling so yucky. And here I find all these kind words and suggestions!! I'm going to look for those preggie pops and also see if the lemon wedges work. Tums is also my new best friend, lol.

Please don't be mad if I hate you. :rotfl2: Seriously, it sounds like you were truly blessed.

Everyone at work keeps asking me if I'm getting excited about my trip. I haven't yet told them them I'm PG, so it's hard for me to explain to them why I'm not feeling too excited now. But hopefully this will pass soon and then I can get excited IN EARNEST!!!!!

Thanks all. You are wonderful, and just knowing how you all care has really made my morning! :love1:

Angel, you are too kind to me! Thank you for the sweet compliment. I’ll help myself to some of your delicious breakfast spread.

Good Morning Lizards! It is a beautiful sunny, HOT :sunny: day here in he West. But DH and myself will be in WDW in less than two months.

Steph H I am sorry you are feeling so yucky. Let me know if the preggie pops work for you. Might be something for my dd to try (if and when there is a third little one) I noticed your countdown and it looks like we will both be at the world at the same time. What are your dates? Are you staying the whole time at GF? We start out at GF for 6 nights, then over to AKL for 7. :cheer2: Maybe we can meet for a cup of coffee or something?

My DD and SIL have moved from Indiana to South Carolina. SIL got a new job with a large CO. and they are moving them, and giving him a very good moving package. I just wish it wasn't further away from us. :rolleyes2 But, one never knows what God's plans are. Who know, maybe we will end up in North Carolina?

Our second DD and Sil are visiting at a base in LA. He was given a 48 hour pass and she drove from Rhinelander, WI all the way to LA. His state-side training is completed and he will be shipped oversea very soon. Probably in the next few days. Please keep them in your prayers and thoughts.

I am really working on our September vacation. I will post our plans to see if anyone has any additions or suggestions.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Angel

Good morning to all of you!

Sounds like trip planning, parent caretaking and growing babies are the hot topics these days. Good luck to all of you who are in the midst of any and all of those challenges!

I'm patiently waiting for my Oct. 1 trip to GF and the F&W Festival. In the meantime, I've also been planning a trip to Chicago for my DH and DS. My son has a new mission - to see every major league baseball stadium! He only has Minnesota and Milwaukee under his belt so far. Donna of donnaandsteve fame has been helping me out with some of the plans. Thanks, Donna!

The travel gods are smiling down on me this fall. In addition to my sisters trip to WDW, DH and I are going to NYC with some good friends late Sept. and my family is heading to Boston/Maine in mid-Oct. Thanks Tammi of TammiMcMan fame for your great suggestions! :flower:

Hey, maybe I should have a goal like my DS. I think I'll visit the home state of every Lizard! What do ya think??? :rotfl:

minniesota, I like the state visiting plan! I’m in GA myself, which is just one tiny state up from the House of Mouse. Plus, we have the World of Coca-Cola—what more could you want? Of course, Turner Field (home of the Braves) can also be visited so your son can add another ballpark to his list.

Hi all! Trying to get my mind off the yuckies by getting it ON my upcoming trip. :)

Minnie & Angel: I think we're all going to the GF at the same time! I think a coffee date is definitely in order. I'm staying at the Sugar Loaf from October 1-8.

Meanwhile. . .I was thinking it might be fun to have GF Concierge put a little gift in the room for my DS3.5 to find upon arrival. He's a HUGE Buzz Lightyear fan. I also noticed that after watching "Return of Jafar" on ToonDisney this week, he seems to be a big Jasmine fan. Not Aladdin, just Jasmine. :rotfl: But he also likes Mickey, of course. Anyone have any thoughts for what might be a nice little gift for him to find when we get into our room?

I'll be celebrating my birthday while we're on the trip. Wonder if I should start making hints to my DH as to what items I'D like to find in the room when we return from our day at the park that Tuesday? ;)

Oh, and Minnie: if you want to visit MY state, we have Comerica Park, the home of this year's All-Star game, to enjoy. :)

Only 65 days 0 hrs. 3 mins. 38 secs. to go!! (Actually less than that. . .they moved my flight time up and I haven't figured out how to reset the clock, lol.)

Steph-I remember seeing a remote control Monorail with Mickey last year that was for a younger child and not too expensive. My kids also really love those play sets with something like 6 or 8 with 3" characters-I'm sure there is a Buzz one and probably Aladin too but I'm sure Aladin would be one of the characters. I also really like the die cast ride vehicles. You might get some ideas here: Laughing Place Store

Donna-have a great trip! :wave2:

Elizabeth & Minnesota Hmmmm I think you have come up with a great idea. As I recently said our DD and SIL have just moved to North Carolina. We could start out there; visit any other DIS's between NC and WDW. :wizard: Sounds like a wonderful vacation. And you all would certainly be welcome to visit with us out here in the west. :flower:

I am leaving out fresh veggie and dips, finger sandwiches from GF tearoom, and of course fresh tuxedo strawberries and Cinderella slippers for dessert.

I got two of these for my DD and my DH for Christmas last year. They had a lot of fun racing them around the floor in the hotel room -- I had toput my foot down when they went out into the hall way to try and chase down unsuspecting guests. :rotfl:

If I could have anything in my room for my birthday I would want a gift certificate to the spa or hair salon at GF or Contemporary with the rest of the day to myself. princess: I'm also really big on Hints!! Actually, I just make a list, draw a map of where the items are in each store and send my DH on his way. I never know which of the items I will actually get so there's some element of surprise but at least I know I will like what I get. LOL

Today will be my last day on the boards for awhile. I'm going back to PA to be with my parents and get started on my dad's chemo. I want to be there the first time to see how he handles it. The Doctor is very hopeful as, even at his age, he is very strong. The doctor was amazed that only two weeks after major surgery he was walking around, mowing lawn (wasn't supposed to do that), driving and the incision was completely healed. The doctor really feels that my dad will do well with the chemo -- I hope so.

Anyway, I'm sending PD and Prayers to everyone while I'm gone and hope that everyone has great trips while I'm gone. If I can get my dad's computer to work I'll try to check in.

MinnieSummer, my prayers are with you and your dad as he undergoes his first chemo treatments. He definitely sounds like a strong person with a fighting spirit to me! I will pray that the treatment will be a complete success and that the side effects will be minimal.

Minniesummer I am go glad you are able to go and spend time with your father. He sounds like a very strong man with a good attitude. That is so very important! You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.

Remember we are all here if you need us. :grouphug:
