Is it possible to get a view of MK from Sugar loaf Key and is this the only lodge concierge building ?
Are lodge concierge rooms lagoon view ?
I really dont want a view of the monorail. I am thinking of splashing out on the lodge concierge for better room/view/ service:cool:

Sugar Loaf has marina and courtyard pool views only. :) I personally really like marnia views, but pool views are nice as well (GREAT for people watching).

sugarloaf is the only lodge concierge (the other concierge is in the main building)...
we were on the first floor of sugarloaf with a marina view...
our room was a few steps from the food and drinks, which i found to be very convenient...
we really loved the decor in sugarloaf and thought the concierge staff was outstanding....
i didn't go to see the concierge room in the main building so i can't compare it for you...
next time we go, we'll either stay in sugarloaf or the main building concierge...(the main building was already fully booked this past time so we had to 'settle' for sugarloaf......in the end we were very happy with the building and the service)...

Our lodge tower room was on the 4th floor of Sago Cay overlooking the marina and sugarloaf. We could also see Space Mountain from our balcony, but not the castle. The room had 2 queen beds in the bedroom and a small couch in the sitting room with a 2nd TV and a small dining area. :) It was very close to Gasparilla, which was really convienent for breakfast. The new pool is a long walk, but we didn't really mind. :)

Is staying at the Gf really worth the extra $$?? I love the resort but is the room better. Just stayed at the WL and was very dissapointed. Thanks.

I love the GF. You are paying for a larger room that can accomodate 5 instead of 4 like at the WL. They have a great new pool, great dining options, you are right on the monorail or a boat ride away from the MK. Why didn't you like the WL? If we know what disappointed you we can compare those items to what the GF has to offer & better answer your question.

Wenlitz, we just came back from 3 nights in WL and 5 nights in GF. We love both resorts. We had a courtyard view room in WL with bunkbeds and a standard garden view room in GF. While we love both resorts, the room in GF is definitely a lot better than the room in WL. Our room in WL was rather dark and the bathroom was small and older. We did not have enough room to lay down our 2 big suitcases. In GF, the bathroom area is larger and looked recently renovated. The GF room is bright and airy and we had a wonderful "standard" view of the main swimming pool and the main building.

Wenlitz.... next time try the Yacht Club! :) Even though I love the GF, the Yacht Club is the nicest hotel on property (in my opinion) :)

Our room wasnt very clean. The floor looked like it was never vac, the walls had black marks all over them, the comforter was ver dirty, our balcony sliding door was brook and wouldnt close. We tried to change rooms but they couldnt put us in the same type of room, so we stayed and cleaned it up ourselves.

Wenlitz-

I am so sorry you had such a horrible experience at the WL. Did you take any pictures of this? I would contact the corporate offices at WDW-they do respond if you email them.

Thanks for all of the replys. I am stumped as to where to stay for our next trip. I just want a nice clean room with good maid service and friendly staff.
I did not e-mail anyone regarding my complaints as I didnt know where to send the e-mail and I didnt figure I would get a response. Thanks

Thank you for the address, I did send my letter. I wonder if I will even get a reply.. Thanks again.

Trying to plan a trip to GF 1st week of Dec. Will be myself, DM, DD-11 and DD-5. Mom would like to try concierge and I wold like to know which building is the best. We had a MK view at the Polynesian last time we went but I don't know if the view is as important as having a great room in a good building. We don't mind a little walk to things (we stayed in Tahiti at the Poly). What would anyone suggest and do you think concierge would be worth it. Thanks for any help we can get on trying to make our plans. Also, anyone that might have gone this past Dec, did you get any good codes?what prices were out there for this time of year?

WDWNUTZE-

Wasn't the MK view from the Tahiti building at the Poly great! That's exactly what we had when we stayed there. I love that resort.

We just stayed at the GF lagoon view in the Conch Key w/ a great MK view the last week in November. We got some sort of room only promotion( the discount code was on Mousesavers.com). For 4 nights we paid $1061 w/ tax which was a great rate. Our building was at the end of the property next to the boat launch & Narcossee's restaurant. It wasn't a bad walk to the main building & we loved the Alice in Wonderland theme & the view. The building right next to ours (towards the main building)-Sugar Loaf Key was concierge & looked lovely. Sometimes the price of garden concierge is the same as a non-concierge lagoon view. You'll have to check the prices when they come out. I would start watching in July. Good luck w/ your decision.

Hi! If you have the budget for it, the Royal Palm Concierge is AMAZING! We stayed there for our Disney wedding & honeymoon, and our room was beautiful. We had a view of Spaceship Earth and the wedding pavilion from our turret room, and it was so great, being able to hear the orchestra from inside our room. Very, very different from our stay in Conch Key there. We will definitely spend the extra $$ from now on and stay concierge. The food there was great, and there's nothing in the world like relaxing in the concierge lounge, sipping wine and listening to the orchestra play downstairs while you look out at the castle. Truly incredible...
Cheers!

Well it looks like we are going to try GF for the first time this December. We've been staying at the Polynesian and really enjoy it. Our DD will be 3 yr. 9 months at the time of this trip so it's MK most of the time and she is still watching the Christmas videos and DVD's so I know that she'd love to see the decorations. I've read all of the items here (or tried to over the past few days ;) ) and have a few questions:

We need a medically necessary non-smoking room. I'm thinking a lagoon view with MK view preference but since I know that preferences are not guarenteed, I'm concerned about Lagoon view and no MK view. I know that I'd be very disappointed to pay that extra and not have one. What has MK view request experience been. We've been very fortunate at the Poly and the BC to get our preferences met.

From what I was following on Sago Cay - are some of the floors smoking? I really like the location of Conch Key. We love taking the boat from MK to the Poly when we stay there and when we took the boat to GF for our 1900 reservations we really liked the area and the walk. I wondered does Conch Key get noisy due to dock location? Where is the quiet pool located in relation to Conch Key?

That's it for now. I feel so totally out of my element not knowing anything about this hotel. It feels like our first trip to WDW which considering how many times we've gone is a very odd feeling.

Thank you everyone for your insight!

I'm hoping to stay at the Grand in August in a garden view room (7 nights FT package-really want the concierge, but can't justify the extra $$) and want a good pool/courtyard view. I'm thinking Big Pine Key or Boca Chica on a higher floor. I would also want a non- smoking room. Any ideas on what a good room request would be? I was studying a few of last years photos (we stayed at Sugar Loaf on the ground floor marina view which was great for the concierge lounge, but otherwise non-remarkable view-wise) and saw that quite a few of the 'garden views'will more than likely be 'big tree views' KWIM? Any suggestions welcomed.

Also, do all the upper floor GV rooms have balconies?

Any bad locations for GV rooms?

Anybody get good AP rates? Going for a 3 day trip and got a great WL rate but being completely spoiled from our stay at GF last year am wondering if I should switch. Thanks!
